ATTENTION SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS: Earn while you LEARN! – AND receive 3 graduation credits, leave
as early as 12:00 to go to work, and use your business and technology skills on the job. Applications for the OEC
work-study program are being accepted for the 2015-16 school year. There are only a few seats left – see your
counselor or Ms. Jones for an application today! Completed applications must be returned to Ms. Jones in room 203.
Attention all A-1 classes! Are you collecting aluminum pop tabs? French club challenged all A-1 classes to collect
as many tabs as possible until Spring Break. The winning class will receive a great buffet breakfast for the whole
class from French club, after spring Break. This is to benefit Ronald McDonald House and the tabs will turned in to
room 208. Get busy, let’s recycle with a cause!!
Club Eco, after school summer program, is seeking reading and math tutors for grades 2nd-5th. Tutoring will start
on March 2, 2015 Monday-Friday from 3:30 to 5:00 P.M. If you are interested in tutoring call Candace Johnson at

Attention all students – the Tiger Blood Drive will be held March 5th and 6th in the gymnasium. Please come by the
tables on first floor during both lunches to sign up to donate. Your donation can save three lives! You must be 16 to
donate, and students under the age of 18 must have a signed permission slip. For more information come by the tables
at lunch or see Mrs. Vaught in room 143.
The Central Arkansas Regional Science Fair scheduled for tomorrow has been rescheduled for March 10th. Please
contact your science teacher or Ms. Donham in room 118 for your revised permission slip.
Attention Seniors: The Roosevelt L. Thompson Scholarship is for graduating seniors at Little Rock Central High School who
plan to attend an accredited four year college or university in the United States. In awarding the scholarship, the
committee seeks someone who best exemplifies the ideals and qualities of Roosevelt Thompson. Scholarship recipients shall
be selected on the basis of their demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, financial need and commitment to public
service. Apply online at www.arcf.org February 1-April 1, 2015. The scholarship is $2000 plus matching grant of $2000 for
a total of $4000, renewable for three years if the student maintains a record of excellence.
Attention Seniors planning on attending UALR: The Chancellor’s Leadership Corps is a comprehensive scholars program
which focuses on learning, leadership, and serving the community. Each year around 175 renewable four-year scholarships
are offered, with award amounts ranging from $8,000 a year up to $32,000 for four years. Interested students must apply
and be accepted to UALR, fill out the general scholarship application, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Potential candidates for
these scholarships will be screened for interviews as part of the selection process and a letter of recommendation is
strongly encouraged. The preferred deadline for consideration is February 1st with a final deadline of April 1st. Apply at

Seniors wishing to attend University of Arkansas at Monticello should know that the deadline for scholarships is March 1,
2015.
Seniors the 2015 National Youth Science Camp is now open. Two seniors from each state will be selected to attend. The
camp is June 17-July 11 in Charleston, West Virginia. Apply by March 1, 2015 at http://apply.nysc.org. The cost is free to
the student.
Top High School juniors are invited to Henderson 100 program. This two-day event is scheduled for April 24-25th. Please
pick-up brochure and application in the guidance office. Forms must be returned by March 6, 2015.
Attention Seniors: The Elegant Ladies Club, Incorporated has announced two scholarships (one for $1,000 and one for
$500) to be awarded to a deserving African-American student. You must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA, demonstrate strong
leadership ability, have good character, active in community service projects, and demonstrate financial need. Please stop by
the guidance office for an application. Applications are due no later than March 10th, 2015.















Do you need tutoring?-TRIO Talent Search on UALR campus will offer tutoring thru March 17. Call 907-2471 or
http://ualr.edu/trioeocets/ets/ for more information. Parents must accompany students on first night of enrollment,
student must provide copy of report card and application must be completed. Please come by guidance office to pick up
application.
Museum of Discovery needs summer discovery camp counselors Monday- Friday morning or afternoons. This is a volunteer
program for students 14 and older. Volunteers will be selected through an application process. You can come by guidance
office to pick up an application. They are due on March 20th. Applicants will be notified on May 8th.
2015 College Prep Scholarship is now open to academically motivated low-income high school juniors. Quest Bridge will work
with you to earn full scholarships to college summer programs at prestigious schools. Students need to apply by March 25,
2015 at www.questbridge.org/refer-a-student.
Attention Seniors: The Little Rock Chapter of the Links, Incorporated awards scholarships to one or more graduating
female minority students who plan on attending a four-year accredited college or university. Scholarships are awarded in
amounts ranging from $2,000 to $2,500 for selected finalists. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA, a minimum ACT of
20 or SAT of 460, have good moral character and citizenship, and demonstrate financial need. Applications must be turned
in to Mrs. Moore in the guidance office no later than March 31st, 2015.
6th Annual Endangered Species Day Art Contest- Requirements can be found at www.fws.gov/arkansas-es/esda.html. Entries
must be post-marked by April 4, 2015.
Attention Seniors: The American Indian Center of Arkansas is proud to announce the 2015 Ernest Whitelaw-Don Kinney
Scholarship. Applicants must have Indian documentation in the form of a CDIB card from a federally recognized tribe, their
most recent transcript, and two letters of recommendation to be eligible for this award. Applications must be in the AICA
office by April 17th, 2015. Applications are available @ www.arindianctr.org or contact Wanda McGuire at 501-666-9032
for more information.
Network Summer Bridge Program is offered by Pulaski Tech to raise the graduation rates of African-American males. The
program will run from June 29-July 24 10:00a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Apply online at www.pulaskitech.edu/networkbridge. Students
will earn 3 hours of college credit.
Attention Seniors: The Dr. Phillis L. Nichols-Anderson Faith-Based Book Scholarship is now available for graduating
African-American seniors. Students must submit a completed application, two letters of recommendation, and a typed 400
to 500 word essay. Mandatory interviews are also part of the selection process. There will be three book scholarships
awarded each valued at $2,000, $1,000, and $500. Please stop by the guidance office for an application.
Attention Seniors: The Arkansas School Boards Association Educational Foundation Freshmen Scholarship Program is
designed to benefit the sons/daughters of Arkansas School Board Members. Four Scholarships are awarded annually (one
from the state’s four congressional districts). A one-time scholarship of at least $600 will be awarded to a son/daughter of
publicly elected Arkansas School Board members, of which the member-parent must be serving on his/her local board on
September 1st of the school year in which the scholarship is awarded. Additional requirements are listed on the application.

African-American students interested in Math and Science and wanting to attend a school In the U of A system should think
about being an Arkansas Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority participant. Students can get an application at
apply.ualr.edu/apply.php. You must apply online.
Looking for a summer job? Apply with the city of Little Rock at www.lrjobs.net. Come by guidance office to pick up the
directions to apply.
The West Little Rock Rotary Club has a limited number of college scholarships available for the 2015-2016 school year. The
award is typically $1000 for the year (awarded $500 each semester with satisfactory academic progress) and is renewable,
at a reduced rate, for a maximum of four years. Recipients must apply each year in order to be considered for renewal.
Applications are available in the guidance office.
