Adlai Stevenson nnn Mrs. Maxwell can often be seen with a cup of coffee in her hand, so we started our day just like hers, except we enjoyed hot cocoa instead. We were given some tasty doughnuts, too, to honor our special day as administrators. After our quick breakfast, we needed to get started with our day, because students were depending on us! We progressed to the BNN media room to read announcements and our Gospel readings for the day. It was fun to see ourselves on the green screen and how we were projected to the entire school! We then returned to the office to help Mrs. Hall open the front school door to all of the pre-K students when they arrived, and later sat in on a few important meetings with Mrs. Maxwell. We found it was important to be effective note-takers and good listeners because she talks fast! We had to be sure not to miss anything because she was depending on us. Our help was then needed by way of walkie-talkie, assisting Mr. Farnquist and making sure our sidewalks were safe for students and that our playground supervisors had everything under control. After all of that work, it was time for a break! To treat the faculty and staff today, we brought in doughnuts to share, and everyone was delighted. We took them to the faculty lounge, and on the way stopped to answer a few questions and help a couple of teachers. We also received many “thank you’s” from students for allowing them to have an out of uniform day. We were glad to be able to help them have an even better school day at St. Mike’s! Soon, it was time for lunch, so each of us invited friends to join us in the office. I invited Brody, Finn, and Matt. Adam invited William, and Heidi invited Maeve. In the afternoon, I headed up the Rubik’s cube challenge for grades 3-5 and announced our winners: Michael Heimel (4) took first place, Brady Ruehling (5) took second place, Molly Lenz (4) took third place. Congratulations to all of our competitors! We would like to thank Mrs. Maxwell for her willingness to show us what a day in the life of a principal is like and for everyone’s patience while we “learned the ropes.” For now, we’ll stick to being students, but we are grateful for all of the hard work of Mrs. Maxwell and her staff to provide the best education possible to all of us at St. Michael Catholic School! Friday, February 27 - Saturday, March 7, 2015 Looking for a great way to spend time with your kids while growing closer with them spiritually? Why not consider being a Sacristan for the children masses? It’s Fun, it’s Easy, & it’s a Great way to start the day knowing you are helping the entire school get closer with God! St. Michael School is looking for a few individuals to help set up & lock up the church before and after the children’s masses on Wednesday mornings. The commitment is low, (approximately 1 Wednesday morning per month)*, and the reward is HUGE!! Please contact Laurie Maxwell at [email protected] for more information. *based on average, commitment is 1 Wednesday per month, rotating weekly with the number of Sacristans Dear St Mike’s Staff and Families On behalf of Keaton and our entire family, we want to take a moment to thank you so much for supporting the JDRF Walk for a Cure with your generous donations. Keaton’s Cure Club raised almost $3000 for this amazing foundation. With the money raised we are able to benefit from amazing technology advancements that help those with Type 1 Diabetes continue to live with limited setbacks. Keaton is excited to begin using his new Wireless Bluetooth Receiver. This will send his blood sugar numbers constantly to an app that our family and the school nurse will monitor. With this technology we will be able to help Keaton stabilize his blood sugars and keep him as healthy as possible. Thank you again for supporting us on our way to finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes!! Sincerely, Jason, Andrea, Keaton & Alaina Daniel POLAR PLUNGE! Thank you to all who supported our team of teachers, parents and students. Here’s to next year! Need a summer nanny? Hi! I have been a full-‐Eme nanny for the past three summers, as well as a part-‐Eme nanny during the school year for all ages (infants to pre-‐teens). I hope that this summer will be no different, in that I will find a friendly family that would be willing to have me as their nanny. I love to have fun doing craJs, spending Eme outdoors, baking, and cooking healthy, home-‐cooked meals with the kids.
