Guest preacher
coming to
Trinity
Next weekend of April
18/19 we will welcome
Rev. Bradley Burke, the
new Executive Director
of Lutheran Charities, to
our pulpit. Rev. Burke is
a lively and engaging speaker who will bring us
stories of the extraordinary work performed by
our local Lutheran service ministries. You
might already be familiar with some of these
agencies and the good work they do.
Agencies such as KenCrest, Lutheran Children
and Family Service, Liberty Lutheran, and
Martin Luther School – Silver Springs, along
with others, touch the lives of 1 in every 50
people in our region. Collectively their ministries impact over 100,000 people in our synod.
As Lutherans we can be proud of the work
done by these well respected agencies. So
please be sure to attend worship that day to
hear Rev. Burke’s message and learn more
about our Lutheran ministries.
A unique opportunity alternative sources of
revenue task force
We are bringing together disciples with
experience around the emerging alternative
source of funding options - gofundme,
googlesmile, giveforward, etc. - to explore
how to connect some of Trinity's ministry
with new sources of revenue. If you have
experience or interest (or know someone
who does) with grant writing, online fundraising, or other alternative fundraising options,
please speak with Pr. Lutz. We will aim
towards a first meeting of the alternative
sources of revenue task force in April.

Thank you to all Trinity disciples who
participated in the Lenten World Hunger
Appeal. Your monetary and in-kind
donations, along with your prayers and
advocacy on behalf of the hungry in our
world will make a difference and are
truly appreciated. Lutherans have a long
tradition of caring for those less fortunate
in our midst as we seek to do God’s will
here on earth.
Donations to the ELCA World Hunger
Appeal are appreciated year round.
Envelopes for donations can be found at
the exits of the sanctuary and in the pew
racks. Thank you for thinking of others
this Lenten season and throughout the
coming year.

Care of Creation:
Climate Change Forum
On Sunday, April 26 at 1 pm, Trinity will bring
renowned climate scientist Dr Benjamin Felzer
to a forum as part of our annual GreenFaith Day
activity. Dr Felzer, Assistant Professor from
Lehigh University, will describe the impacts of
climate change, and talk about what each
person can do to make a difference.
Dr Felzer is a climate and biogeochemical
modeler who studies terrestrial ecosystems. His
work has focused on the role of environmental
stresses such as climate change, elevated CO2,
land use change, and atmospheric pollutants on
ecosystem function and services. He has developed the TEM-Hydro model, a biogeochemical
model of carbon, nitrogen, and water cycling to
address these issues. He has also used the
NCAR Community Earth System Model
(CESM), a fully coupled atmosphere, ocean,
sea ice, land model to explore carbon and
water feedbacks between the land and atmosphere. His current NSF-funded research is to
study ecosystem response to the effects of
climate extremes, such as floods and droughts.
2015 is a make or break year on this important
issue. With a major international meeting in
December, and the effects of climate change
already happening worldwide, Trinity Lutheran
Church has a moral duty to act. On April 26
we’ll learn more about climate change and ways
to take action. Please plan to join us!
The event has been organized in partnership
with GreenFaith, an interfaith environmental
organization, and Climate Voices, a non-profit
dedicated to bringing scientists and citizens
together to discuss climate science and the
local impacts of climate change. For further
information on GreenFaith Day, visit: http://
