the health and health care research and
innovation needs in Canada at macro, meso
and micro level
 Alignment of funding of researchers and
infrastructure
 Collaborative networks to develop synergies
 Attention given to support and guidance for
trainees

Funding Conditions
 Funding for scientists in early and mid-career
 Stability of funding for effective use of
resources (people, space, infrastructure)
 Support for matching fund/indirect costs
 Enhancement of Private Public Partnerships
 Framework for new innovative partnerships
 System set up to minimize bias (those who set
up should not be the benefactors)

Faculty research leadership be engaged at the
onset of any strategic discussions regarding
health research funding including

Governance of funding agencies

 Government of Canada in consultation with the
health research community should be
determining strategy, policy and governance of
health research and innovation funding and
