Workshop on Career Planning
Workshop on
Career Planning
3 for international clients 2015
The Campusmondi education counselling service is specialized in assisting students with the development of clear professional goals as well as the thorough planning and implementation of career & study
choices. Using our many years of experience with such workshops, we enable participants to reflect
on their own talents, strengths and career opportunities in an exciting and interactive learning environment. The two consultants also have extensive expertise in working with clients from international
schools; therefore the seminars can be run either in German or English.
The workshop coaches
Matthias Trüper is the founder of the Campusmondi education counselling
service. He has studied Education, History and Geography in Munich and
Berlin. After teaching at the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin, Mr. Trüper
founded the Berlin-Potsdam International School in 1991. He led the school
as a principal until 1998 before he took an engagement for a company in the
US. In 2000, Mr. Trüper founded Campusmondi as one of the first independent
education counselling agencies in Germany. Since then, he has carried out
approximately 1,500 successful consultations and has had a major impact on
the private education counselling sector. In his more than 35 years of working
history, he has built a large network of higher education professionals world
wide, from which Campusmondi students can benefit today.
Philipp Liedgens has studied History and Communications in Germany
and the USA. After receiving his Master of Arts Degree in 2002, he became the
CEO of Sport-Scholarships.com. Since then, he has established this company
as the first agency in Germany to professionally assist aspiring student-athletes
to receive athletic scholarships at high-level US universities. The company is
still the market leader in this area of expertise and Mr. Liedgens has personally
helped more than 1,000 students to gain admission and scholarships at a
broad variety of US universities, including elite institutions such as Harvard,
Princeton or UCLA. He has now been advising high school graduates and
students, particularly regarding study opportunities in the US and Canada, for
more than 12 years. In January 2015, Philipp Liedgens became the co-owner
of the Campusmondi education counselling service and continues to build the
company together with Matthias Trüper.
Workshop on
Career Planning
3 for international clients 2015
The starting point
The method
Every day, students are inundated with information about
how they should choose among a variety of training options
and career opportunities. These students and their parents
often feel overwhelmed by the flood of information available and have the desire for some tangible indicators to
help them to make good career choices. Study interests and
career aspirations are influenced by the media, businesses,
government agencies, schools, universities, classmates, and
not least the family on a daily basis. However, this is usually
not enough to make a qualified decision on a life-long career.
This workshop will help the students to organize the available information, to address all uncertainties and to develop
firm anchors that they can use to evaluate any new opportunities. It will help the participants to reflect on their own
strengths & weaknesses, find out more about their interests
& career expectations as well as offering guidance on possible internships, study & professional options.
It is a challenge to spend a weekend with 10 or 11th grade
students and keep their attention level high. Therefore, we
use a multi-varied approach consisting of role plays, questionnaires, work on flipcharts, relaxation games and many
other activities helping us to understand the complexity of
the young personalities.
In the past years, we have observed that this approach
helps high school students to discover themselves in a different perspective and to unveil unknown talents. Keeping
the students focused and encouraging to reflect on and
realize the most significant aspects of their personalities,
interests and talents, is of utmost importance to come up
with career advice that really fits the students’ need at the
end of the workshop.
The framework
In a group of not more than twelve participants, students
are supported by our two coaches, Matthias Trüper and
Philipp Liedgens. During our two-day seminar, participants
will find out more information on relevant job skills as well
as their own special aptitudes and preferences. This aim will
be achieved through psychological testing, in-depth exercises and individual feedback sessions. An intense and
guided reflection about their own interests, using a detailed
analysis of strengths and weaknesses, will result in a final
recommendation that will give the students helpful points of
orientation and a better idea of suitable career opportunities.

to suitable career choices and how to achieve the goals that
were developed during the workshop. Naturally, these recommendations will also take the performance level of the
students and the expectations of the family into account.
