Tournament Cover Letter - The Donny Higgins Memorial Fund

Hello Everyone,
My name is Joe Burke, and I am a coach for the South Boston Youth Hockey Program. The
Friends of Donny Higgins Memorial Inc. is hosting a Street Hockey Tournament on Saturday,
June 13, 2015. We’re excited to sponsor this event at the newly named Donald J. Higgins Arena
(located on Farragut Road between Broadway and East Third Street).
The tournament will be divided into two separate age groups and skill levels. The first tournament
(mites and squirts) will play from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The second tournament
(peewees/bantams will play from 12:30 – 5:30 PM. Each team will have two lines and a goalie.
This opportunity is offered to all children of the South Boston community and other surrounding
communities based on a first come first serve basis.
Parents must complete the attached registration and waiver forms. Games will be played on
shoes, no roller blades will be allowed. To ensure good competition and a manageable schedule,
the committee may place a cap on the number of teams in each age group. All participants in the
tournament will receive a free tee shirt.
The deadline for ALL applications will be no later than Friday, May 22, 2015.
We also invite you to bring the family because we’ll have food, games, music from 12:00 noon to
4:00 PM in the tennis courts located directly behind the street hockey rink.
