E4C’s Summer Snack Program provides daily snacks to children participating in a number of City
of Edmonton Summer Playground Programs. The purpose of the Snack Program is to address the
gap left by the absence of school snack and meal programs in the summer.
Program Assistant I/ Program Assistant II
Duration: June 18 to August 26, 2015
Job Description: Provide an organized delivery of nutritious snacks to children at high needs
playground sites. Assist with the promotion of the program to schools and donors. Provide an
orientation for and maintain contact with playground staff. Pick-up and deliver food and supplies.
Implement an evaluation and compile the results into a report. Assist with food allergy checks and
snack preparation if required. Facilitate nutrition education activities for children if time allows.
Candidates must have a valid license/vehicle. Other duties as required.

Kitchen Assistant
Duration: June 22 to August 26, 2015
Job Description: Plan daily snack menus. Inventory control of food and supplies. Purchase food and

Job Purpose

motivated individual with a primary focus on delivering snacks to children at the playgrounds.
Duties and Responsibilities










Provide an organized delivery of nutritious snacks to playground sites.
Assist with promotion of the program to schools and donors.
Provide an orientation for and maintain contact with playground staff.
Pick-up and deliver donations of food and supplies.
Implement an evaluation and compile the results.
Assist with donor acknowledgement.
Keep daily records.
Assist with food allergy checks and snack preparation, if required.
Facilitate nutrition education activities for children at the playgrounds, if time allows.
Kitchen duties and other duties as required.
Qualifications









Post-secondary student with experience in nutrition and food-related services.
Awareness of food security issues in Edmonton.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Highly organized with strong administrative skills.
Works well independently and as a team member.
Flexible and reliable.
Committed to working every day for the duration of the program.
Must enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds.
As conditions of employment, must provide current copies of:
(1) Police Information Check, (2) Child Intervention Check,
(3) valid Class 5 Driver’s License, (4) Clean Driver’s Abstract.
