CONSTRUCTION




Ongoing construction includes: Nighttime installation of steel walkways, track, and exterior glass for the
station structure.
The bus loop at Lougheed Station has been shifted back to its original location. Work to restore the
passenger pick-up and drop-off area on Gatineau Place is underway. Work should be complete by early
June. The majority of the work on the passenger pick-up and drop-off area will be done during the day.
Nighttime roadwork on Austin Avenue between Lougheed Highway and North Road. Crews will be milling
and paving starting on May 24.
Intermittent nighttime roadwork on Gatineau Place.
TRAFFIC DETOURS

Intermittent nighttime lane closures of North Road (between Gatineau Place and Lougheed Highway). One
lane in each direction on North Road will be maintained while work is underway.

When Austin Avenue paving is underway, a full closure of the road between Lougheed Highway and North
Road will be necessary. The detour routes are as follows:
o
o
Drivers travelling westbound on Austin Avenue will be detoured at North Road to Lougheed
Highway while this closure is in place.
Drivers wishing to access Austin Avenue from Lougheed Highway or Government Street will be
detoured further east to North Road.

Intermittent nighttime lane closures on Gatineau Place for roadwork – sidewalk and curb restoration and
line painting.

Drivers should watch for changeable message signs that will indicate the exact closure dates. Please follow

PEDESTRIAN DETOURS


While bus loop construction is underway, temporary sidewalk closures and detour routes may be in effect
as part of ongoing construction. Pedestrian detour routes will be clearly marked. Please follow signs.
Transit users should watch for changeable message signs that will include the detour dates and directions.
HOURS OF WORK







The majority of the work at the Lougheed Town Centre Station will continue to take place Mondays to
Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and if required, on Sundays and holidays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, in
May, some nighttime work is required.
Lougheed Town Centre Station is an expansion of an existing station that serves transit users on a daily
basis. Due to the hours of SkyTrain operations, nighttime track installation is required so that crews can tie
into the existing track system.
Regular SkyTrain service at Lougheed Town Centre Station will not be disrupted during this construction.
Nighttime paving is required due to high volumes of daytime traffic on Austin Avenue. Paving will occur
intermittently for approximately three nights over a two week period.
While work is underway, nearby residents can expect noise related to nighttime construction activities,
including drilling, bolting and the use of heavy machinery.
Every effort will be made to minimize noise and disruptions when possible. Crews will minimize the use of
back-up beepers, however they are required for safety.
When crews are working at night, construction lighting will be used and efforts will be made to angle the
lighting away from nearby residents.
If residents have any questions or comments about construction activity and/or require more detailed information,
please contact EGRT Construction at 604-927-2080, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
