Budapest
Join us for a majestic cruise on the famous
Blue Danube. With a tremendous variety of
scenery, historic cities, romantic towns,
superb architecture and cultural jewels,
Europe’s second longest river offers an
incomparable river cruising experience.
Ports of call include magnificent Vienna and
Budapest, with overnight stops at each.
itinerary:
Day 1: Flight to munich
Join your chosen flight to Munich then a
short transfer to our overnight hotel in
Munich or near the airport.
note: Munich airport is around 24 miles
from the city centre.
Day 2: Embarkation in Passau
After breakfast we transfer by coach to
Passau, one of Bavaria’s most important
tourist destinations, with free time to
explore and obtain lunch. Known as the
Dreiflüssestadt (City of Three Rivers), the
Danube is joined there by the Inn and the Ilz
rivers. The town has a medieval centre
complete with the Cathedral of St Stephan,
home to Europe’s largest pipe organ.
Serenity embarkation will commence midafternoon.
Day 3: melk - Vienna
This morning we arrive in the small town of
Melk which lies in the beautiful Wachau
Valley. Here you can join our optional
excursion visiting the Benedictine Abbey.
This is one of the most famous monastic
houses in Austria which has been occupied
by monks for over 900 years. You can relax
on board for the remainder of the day as we
cruise to Vienna for an overnight stop.
Day 4: Vienna
We spend a full day experiencing the
delights of Vienna. Grand palaces, baroque
castles, magnificent squares and grand

monuments are just some of the key
features of this beautiful city, which is a
UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the
morning you can join our optional City Tour
and in the afternoon we have an optional
excursion to Schönbrunn Palace, which
takes you on a journey through time as we
explore some of the 1441 rooms. In the early
evening we cast off and cruise towards
Budapest.
Day 5: Budapest
Today we have a full day in Budapest, one of
the most beautiful cities in the world. Here
you can explore both sides of Hungary’s
capital – traditional ‘Buda’ and the more
cosmopolitan ‘Pest’. Start the day by joining
our optional city tour to introduce you to
the highlights and help get your bearings in
the city known as the Pearl of the Danube.
In the evening you can join our optional
excursion to experience Budapest by Night
with a traditional folklore show.
Day 6: Budapest
This morning you can enjoy your time in
Budapest or join our optional excursion
which takes you through the sweeping
plains of Hungary to Lajosmizse. Here we
visit a traditional stud farm and enjoy a tour
of the grounds in a horse drawn carriage,
before watching a spectacular live Puszta
Horse Show. In the afternoon we set sail and
cruise towards Bratislava.
Day 7: Bratislava
We reach Bratislava in the early morning.
This historic city is dominated by its castle
and unique suspension bridge. Join our
optional walking tour to take in the sights of
this Slovakian capital City Tour and
experience its rich culture. In the midafternoon we set sail and cruise towards
Dürnstein.
Day 8: Dürnstein
The town of Dürnstein is crowned by the
ruins of the castle that once imprisoned
Richard the Lionheart. Join our optional
walking tour which takes you around the
cobbled streets to admire the pretty
courtyards and buildings, before stopping
at one of the Wachau Valley’s renowned
wine cellars to enjoy some wine tasting.
From here you have a lovely view of the
castle ruins. Then a train takes you to a wine
tasting, where you will taste three typical,
delicious wines of the Wachau region. In the
afternoon the ship will continue for an
overnight cruise to Passau.
Day 9: Disembarkation Passau
After breakfast it is time to disembark in
Passau and transfer to Munich Airport
