CARE & SHARE 2015: Many thanks to so many of you who gave so generously to the 2014
Care and Share Diocesan Collection. We were able to meet our goal! Now it is time for us to begin
the 2015 appeal this weekend. The theme for this year is Proclaim Christ! By now you have received Bishop Warfel’s letter outlining the goals and needs of this appeal. If you have questions, just ask me.
Our parish goal for this year is $110,000. This amount reflects not only how blessed our parish has been by your generosity, but as important, how much good we are able to do to provide for ministry to so many of our parishes in
Eastern Montana that struggle to provide the services we have at Holy Spirit for their small communities. With a diocese of 38,000 Catholics spread over 94,500 square miles, our rural churches are spread thin and must rely on diocesan services provided through Care and Share to Proclaim Christ with hope.
I know I can count on your commitment again this year. I always say that this appeal is both a responsibility
and a privilege that we all share as members of this diocese. As always, thanks!! Fr. Dick

Hungering for Seeds of Home. We follow
Jesus this week as he enters into Jerusalem, a
community he knows well. CRS Rice Bowl
asks us, too, to prayerfully enter into our own communities,
to find those who are hungry and thirsty, who need our help.
Twenty Five Percent of your donation stays in our community, 75% is distributed to the world’s needs. See
www.crsricebowl.org
Bring your offering to Thursday’s Mass Be sure to mark CRS
Rice Bowl.

Stewardship
Mission is at once a passion for Jesus and a passion
for his people.” (The Joy of the Gospel. Pope Francis. P. 196). 6 people spent January 11-18 with us at the Monsignor House. Since that week we changed the locks, fixed plumbing, installed fire safety equipment, & cleaned. The hospitality
of Holy Spirit Parish extends again to the preparations we make
to receive 14 people April 5 (Easter Sunday night)-April 12. We
need volunteers to move cots into the trailer @ 2:00 on April
5 from the 7th Day Adventist Church to the Monsignor House
and make up the cots in the House. On April 12 we move the
cots back into the trailer. With a couple of families it will take
about 1 hour to move into the House and make up the cots and
about 20 minutes to move out. If you can help out please call
Kathie @ 781-5033. Dean & Linda Erickson are the leads for
the cots team.
We need 2 people to stay overnight on Friday, April 10. This is
the longest night with lights out @ midnight. If you feel called
to volunteer for that night please call Kathie @ 781-5033.
The Monsignor House will be open to receive donations, take a
tour or have coffee with Kathie on Tuesday, March 31 from 9:00
-11:30; Thursday, April 2 from Noon-3:00; and Friday, April 3
from 9:00-11:00. Thank you for your passion for Jesus & his
people. You are inspirational!

Choir Practice: Music practice most Wednesdays, in
the church. Come in by way of the shrine door ~ follow
the sidewalk to the right around the side of the church.
All are welcome to join in the leading of music ~ all voices &
most instruments are welcome! We specialize in developing
young cantors to lead the music at the psalm ~ come join us!
Liturgical Tidbits: HOLY WEEK: Holy Week is the
most sacred time in the life of a parish community. It is what
we have been preparing for all during Lent. It is the highlight
of what our faith life is all about. So don't miss the best part!
As we enter the holiest of weeks, know that your presence at
these liturgies is important. Each service is unique. The solemn liturgies for Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday are among the very best things we do in the church.
Don't miss these celebrations! Yes, they are longer than
usual. Yes, they are different, but isn't that to be expected?
Special events always cause us to change our ordinary routine
way of doing things. That should not surprise us.
Join your parish community for these special celebrations. You won't be disappointed. The celebrations of this
holy week are a climactic conclusion to our lenten experience. As we move from the "hosannas" of Palm Sunday to
the remembrance table of Holy Thursday, may our faith
strengthen us to go from the Good Friday Cross of Calvary to
the living waters of Holy Saturday and to the joy of Easter
"Alleluias!"
VIGIL: When the word “vigil” is used, it usually refers to
the day before a feast. Saturday evening Mass, for example,
is a vigil that anticipates the Sunday celebration. It is mostly a
matter of convenience, intended for those who would be unable
to attend Mass on Sunday due to work obligations. In former
times there were only a few vigil Masses. These were extended
periods of intense prayer, reading and reflection. Major feast
days still have vigil Masses with their own special readings.
Pentecost is an example of this.
The church celebrates three distinct Christmas Masses,
each with its own special readings: at midnight, at dawn, and
during the day. When the church celebrates a vigil liturgy, it is
almost as it is is saying, “We can’t wait!” Holy Saturday, or
the Vigil of Easter, is the most important of all vigils and we
still celebrate it much the way it was intended. The Holy Saturday Vigil is definitely not an anticipated Mass but a real vigil.
In fact, it should not be begun until darkness has fallen.
2015 Year of Consecrated Life
Religious life ought to promote growth in the church
by way of attraction. The church must be attractive.
Wake up the world! Be witnesses of a different way of doing
things, of acting, of living! … It is this witness that I expect of
you. Religious should be men and women who are able to wake
the world up.
