From the Editor…
I would like to welcome the management, players and supporters from
Kingsley Soccer Club for today’s games.
Today is a historic occasion for both clubs, our very first game under the FFA
Cup banner. The two Round Seven winning clubs will not only go on to play in
the State Cup Final, but will also represent Western Australia in the nationwide
Round of 32 in the FFA Cup, where a possible game against an A-League team
may beckon.
Today we are up against Amateur League Premier Division side Kingsley, who
have knocked out State League opposition in the cup before. Balga's new
coach Ljupco Taneski will no doubt have his team fired up and will not be
taking them lightly.
We welcome Ljupco and his new coaching team to Balga, we hope you will
enjoy being a part of this great club. Special mention must also go to outgoing
coach Martyn Day and his family, who have put in a lot of their time over the
past few years in getting the club back into State League football.
We will once again be providing this free match day program at each home
game during the season, If you have any club news, be it juniors, seniors,
masters or women, please email me at [email protected]
Please enjoy the hospitality and facilities on offer at Balga Soccer Club
throughout the day.

From the President…
Today marks the start of another exciting season for the Balga Soccer Club.
Our year is starting off in style with today's Westfield FFA Cup clash against local Sunday
Premier side Kingsley.
This game is being played at home thanks to the hard work and understanding from the
good people at the City of Stirling who have pulled out all stops to make special
arrangements to allow this game to proceed before the official season opening on the 11th
April.
We recently made some major changes on the playing side of things when we said goodbye
to head coach Martyn Day, who had led us to two consecutive promotions and back into
State League football. Our debt to Martyn and his entire family is huge and we wish them all
well for their future. Ljupco (Bobby) Taneski has taken over the reins and with his support
team we look to push on and aim for promotion again within two years.
With the strides made to cement our position on the field we must also turn our attention
to off field matters. These are just as vital to maintain our push forward. We are always
looking for good people to come on board to assist in running a big club like ours.
Currently we have the need for a Club Secretary to look after the Clubs correspondence and
to record the Clubs meetings.
We also are looking for a Club Groundsman who will be responsible for marking the pitches
each week and setting up the pitch for match days each Saturday Home game.
Should you be interested in either of these positions please talk to me anytime.
I hope you all enjoy the special atmosphere of the “Cup” competition today and we all look
forward to a great year in 2015.

From the Coach…
Welcome all to Balga Soccer Club,
I would like to welcome the Balga Soccer Club Committee, Players, Sponsors, and
Supporters to Season 2015.
Also we would like to extend our warm welcome to Kingsley Soccer Club in welcoming the
club to today's FFA Cup game, which I am sure both sets of clubs will contest in great
footballing spirit.
I am looking forward to my return at Balga from the NPL where I have developed on an
individual front, I am joined at Balga with my assistants Amir and Lindsay, and also Adrian
and Anton whom I know will develop the next future players of Balga in the reserves.
Balga is a great football club which has a successful history in WA football, as a club but also
on an individual basis that not many others have experienced:
With such short time to prepare the squad for the upcoming season we are excited in the strides the
players have made to amend the direction in which the committee and coaching staff want to steer
the club towards. Along with my assistants and players we are aiming to have a strong season and
aim for a strong start in today's FFA Cup game with a win to take us to the next round of the
competition.
We hope the fans enjoy today's footballing activities and come on the Black and Greens.
Yours in football
Ljupco Taneski - First Team Coach

Previous league games against Kingsley
Balga and Kingsley have met on eight occasions, with Kingsley having won five
times, Balga have tasted victory once, while there have been two draws.
The first ever league meeting between the clubs at senior level was the
opening game of the 2004 season, where Kingsley easily defeated the black
and greens by four goals to one. Balga's only win was when Kingsley last
travelled to Princess Road Reserve was in 2007, with Balga claming victory by
two goals to nil.

Our Opponents
The Kingsley Soccer Club have a strong history in the Amateur game in Western Australia.
After entering the Amateur Fourth Division in 1988, the club wasted no time by pushing
their way up the leagues. They went on to win the league in their first two seasons, to find
themselves in the Second Division in 1990, where they finished a creditable fourth before
winning the title again the following year to gain promotion to the First Division. By 1994
the club made it to the Amateur Premier Division for the first time, and finished fifth and
also won the Amateur Cup by beating Fremantle United in the Final.
It went downhill the following summer, with many players leaving. The club had little option
but to restart again by competing in the Amateur Fifth Division in 1995. The rise back to the
top started slowly, however by 2004 Kingsley had made it to the First Division, and were
back in the Amateur top flight again by 2012, where they continue to this day.

Cup Games
For the first Balga flashback of the season, we turn to cup games of the past, where we have
seen many highs as well as lows.
Our first success in the cup was in 1975, when we won the Amateur Cup. The following year
our reserves also went all the way. Our first venture into the D'Orsogna (State) Cup was in
1976 while we were an Amateur Premier side. We shocked Saturday side Cockburn United
7-1, before getting thrashed by cup holders Morley-Windmills in the next round.
Our best ever run in the State Cup was in 1980. As a third tier club, we defeated second tier
Bassendean Caledonian 1-0 in the first round, then beating Amateur side Belmont 4-2, with
the shock of the year being the 2-1 home win over top flight side East Fremantle Tricolore.
In the quarter-finals Balga met another Premier side in North Perth Croatia, and just went
down by 1-0 to miss out on a semi-final place.
In 1981 Balga shocked Forrestfield United (who went on to finish 2nd in the Premier League)
by 2-1 before going out in the following round to Perth Azzurri. In 1983 our Under 18's
would go on to make the final, but lose 3-2 to Gosnells City, while in 1986 our Reserves
would go down in a tight cup final against Inglewood Kiev, losing the match 3-2.
Our next highlight against higher opposition for our first team in the cup was in 1993. Even
though we lost the game, we pushed Premier League heavyweights Stirling Macedonia all
the way, being in front 1-0 for most of the game. Two late goals for Macedonia helped them
avoid embarrassment. In 1996 as a third tier club Balga defeated a strong Dianella White
Eagles, which was our last win in the State Cup.
In 1998 we were forced to go back to the Amateur competition, which meant we were back
in the Amateur Cup. Our best run after that period was when the club made it to the
quarter-finals in 2002 before going down to Fremantle United 3-2. Our Masters team had
cup success in 2000 when they won the trophy, and finished runners-up two years later.
