MMHS Eagle HighFLIGHTS:
*Students of the Month for April: Congratulations to our Students of the Month for April, who were
selected from our Science Department! These outstanding students are: Amber Ray, Dawson Nackos,
Sydney Stephenson, Brian Carter, Tasha Jackson, and Dallin McKinney! What an amazing group of students!
*MMHS Boys’ Tennis: Another great week of tennis for the MMHS Boys tennis team!! Victory began on
Tuesday April 21 with a 4-1 over Provo and continued Thursday with a 5-0 win over Springville. MMHS finished
2nd in the Region with the last season match at Springville. Then, on Saturday, April 25, varsity players
headed north to the Logan Invitational to meet up with some tough teams that they might see at State. The
MMHS team placed 2nd overall a few points behind 5A State Champions Viewmont. Doubles Team Nam
Luu/Danny Blonquist and Austin Edwards/Joe Phelps took 1st individually against Woods Cross and Uintah
while singles players Eric Whiting and Brigham Perry took 2nd against Viewmont players. JV players Colin
McCauland/Payton Lewis and Carson Christensen/Sam Hart attended the tournament as well and played some
tough teams to get ready for their JV Tournament May 1st.

*Graduation Robes: ***SENIOR STUDENTS*** Graduation is around the corner, and if you have not
already ordered your graduation robes, please do so as soon as possible by contacting Josten’s at: 435-6888409!!! There are also order forms in the main office! Be sure and get this taken care of right away!
*Driver Education: The summer driver education class dates are now posted online at
http://mmhs.nebo.edu/DriversEd Select a class that is conflict free from sports, camps, vacations and other
activities. You can sign up at the MMHS finance office. The guidelines have recently changed regarding the
online class, so please read everything carefully about the online class found on the MMHS webpage. Classes
fill up quickly, so don't wait. You must have a current learner permit when signing up.

*MMHS Skills USA: Maple Mountain High School SkillsUSA club needs your help to send its Welding
Fabrication Team and it's CPR/first aid contestant back to Louisville, KY for the National Competition. On March
27th. We took first place at the state level and were invited back to compete among the top competitors in the
country. In hopes to help with this cost we would like to invite you to sign up and bring in anything you need
to have repaired or re-welded. If you provide the material to fix your project, we will weld it back together for
you. In return, we ask that you please donate money when your project is completed to help these boys make
it back to Louisville. The 3rd annual MMHS Welding Fix It Saturday will be held May 2nd from 8am to 4pm.
We ask that you please be generous in your donations, but the amount donated will be up to you. Please
spread the word to friends and family,

*MMHS Floral & Greenhouse: Maple Mountain Floral and Greenhouse students have worked hard to plant
and prepare flowers and vegetables for sale. The greenhouse will open May 9th and be open Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. We have a large variety of flowers, vegetables,

*MMHS Dance Company: Maple Mountain High School Dance Company Auditions for the 2015-2016 school
year will be Wednesday, April 29th from 3-6pm in the MMHS Dance Room. Applicants must attend one of two
clinics on Monday, April 27th, or Tuesday, April 28th from 3-5 pm in addition to the tryout. Information and
applications are found on the MMHS website under Performing Arts and Healthy Lifestyles. Come and be a part
of MMDC!
*MMHS Elleves: The annual Ellevé Showcase is on Friday, May 1 at 7 pm in the MMHS auditorium. Come
see their award winning routines as well as some new ones. Including a couple dance, lyrical routine, and
officer routine. A few Ellevés will perform solos and the new 2015-16 Elleves will perform for the first time.
Admission is $4 for adults; $3 for students; $2 for children. Children under 5 are free. Come celebrate our year
with us!
*MMHS Tennis:
5th Annual Maple Mountain Tennis Tournament
June 29-July 2, 2015 at MMHS Tennis Courts
All junior players, 18 and younger, are welcome to register for singles and doubles match play. Doubles
matches begin June 29 at 9am and singles matches begin June 30-July2. USTA rules apply. First round
loser's consolation for the singles draw and single elimination for the doubles draw. Draws will be emailed by
June 27th. Deadline for registration is June 25! Early bird registration is $5 off by June 1st. Make checks
payable to MMHS and pay to the Finance Office. Registration forms are in the Finance Office. Call Lisa

*MMHS Counseling Dept: Thursday, April 30 is the last campus tour to Southern Utah University. We will
be leaving Maple Mountain High School @ 8:00 am. The last day to sign up is Tuesday April 28 after school.
It is $5 to attend. Lunch will need to be provided by the student and could be purchased on campus for
$7.10. It is a great opportunity to become familiar with the campus and find out more about programs they
offer.
*MMHS Attendance:
 Parents: Once you excuse an absence, it will take 24 hours for that absence to reflect on your
student’s SIS record.
 If you need to check-out your student, please call 801-794-6740 and select option #1 to reach Mrs.
Davis in our attendance office. If you reach Mrs. Davis’s voicemail, please leave a message and she
will return your call and take care of your request, as soon as possible. She retrieves her messages
continually throughout the day. Thank you!
*PTA Corner:

THANK YOU to our many PTA volunteers who have helped our school throughout the year! We really
appreciate your service!

Our May MMHS PTA Board Meeting will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 10 am in the MMHS
Conference Room.

Congratulations to our MMHS students who placed highly in the Reflections contest. Earlier this year
Sarina Van Orman and Addie Black received trophies and went on the the state competition. Recently,
Addie Black received honorable mention at the state level! Congratulations to these students! You can
see Reflections state level winners at the Leonardo Museum in Salt Lake City. The Utah PTA website

"SPARK! is the title of the exhibit that features the Reflections entries from Utah PTA as the main part
of the display.
In addition to the Reflections artwork there are interactive areas where kids (young and old) can create
their own art, guest artists will teach workshops, and artists will perform."

