til Nerliens Mesznasky for å holde et seminar om proficiency testing/ringtester torsdag 28. mai.
For å lære mer om ringtester og hvordan rapportene fra LGC kan utnyttes for å sikre kvaliteten på

Proficiency Testing (PT), also known as Interlaboratory Comparisons or External Quality Assessment (EQA)
is seen as one of 3 pillars of internal quality control measures in laboratories. The concept of PT has been
established to allow participants an anonymously comparison with peer experts in their analytical field.
This presentation gives a definition of PT, its structure, associated standards, terms and concepts.

Depending on the type of PT scheme, different statistical tests can be applied. Most statistical methods were
specified in the PT related ISO standards like ISO13528:2005, which has been in revision and might be
released in summer 2015. This presentation gives an overview about the most frequently used statistical test,
the benchmarks and the pro and cons of the different statistical methods.

PT is the perfect tool to demonstrate competence to customers, authorities and accreditations bodies. It can
be used as well to identify irregularities and problems in QC or measurement processes. Simple statistical
procedure like a trend analysis of Z-Scores can provide knowledge e.g. about individual training needs, fit-forpurpose of methods or effectiveness of a workflow in a laboratory. Sometimes PT results are not clear on the
first view. This presentation will show some case studies and will help to understand the core message of PT
results.
