Answers to your FAQs for PARCC EOY:
1. All students should take the PARCC EOY test, even if they did not take or complete the PARCC PBA test.
a. Students new to Colorado? Yes
b. Students who transferred into DPS from within Colorado? Yes
c. Students who did not take the PBA? Yes
d. Exception: Students who have officially opted-out of CMAS will not take the EOY tests.
2. Will students who did not take PBA still receive a score? No, and maybe. Without taking both components (PBA & EOY),
a student will not receive an overall score. However, we are hopeful s/he may still receive raw data at some level.
3. Scratch paper is allowed on both the ELA & Math test. Is must be provided by the school (blank, lined or graph) and will
be shredded at the end of the testing window.
4. Headphones are not required for EOY testing, except for students receiving TTS
5. Students can take a make-up test out of order by selecting “Set Section Start” from the Students in Session screen.
NOTE: Log-out directions will change if a student is testing out of order.
a. Make-Up Testing Directions (for testing out of order):
i. http://onlineassessment.dpsk12.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Guide-to-Makeup-Testing.pdf
b. Log-Out Instructions for Test Administrators (*NEW*):
i. http://avocet.pearson.com/PARCC/Home#6879
6. Accommodations for English Learners on PARCC ELA & Math tests, listed HERE on PAGE 15.
7. ELs can have a Spanish math test or a Spanish math test with TTS. To assign this in the PNP:
a. For a student who needs a math test in Spanish, select Translation of the Mathematics Assessment Online in the PNP
b. For a student who needs a math test in Spanish WITH text-to-speech in Spanish, select Translation of the
mathematics Assessment in Text-to-Speech – Spanish
You cannot select both. Students can also respond in Spanish and receive translated test administration directions.

9. Human Reader (Oral Script) Accommodations: Online, Paper
a. Online Human Reader Accommodations (aka: Oral Script):
i. SAL will print off two testing tickets – a Student Testing Ticket and a Proctor Testing Ticket; the proctor will use the ticket to
log into their own version of the same online test as the student
b. Paper/Pencil Human Reader Accommodation:
i. A “Read Aloud Kit” will provide 2 tests booklets, one for the student and one for the proctor
10. A reminder that TTS & Human Reader (oral script) accommodations are not allowed on the ELA/Literacy test unless
approved by CDE as a unique accommodation.
11. There is an optional student survey at the end of Unit 2 that will take approximately 10 minutes. This is time added to
the end of the unit time, if needed.
12. Opt-Outs:
a. For new opt-outs, please fill out a testing irregularity report and attach the official opt-out letter. You do not need to email
[email protected] in addition.
b. For all opt-outs, please continue to code all opt out absences as Test Refusal (under the Authorizations tab in IC) – see quick
reference guide included in the Opt Out toolkit. The link to the opt-out toolkit is here: http://tinyurl.com/n64m4k7
13. There is a new process to take if you experience TestNav tool issues and/or Data Loss during active testing. Please
follow the steps posted HERE to report an instance to the CMAS Hotline.
14. To the greatest extent possible, please maintain an instructional schedule for your students when not in testing sessions.
15. Please contact the ARE Department if your testing schedule changes unexpectedly (i.e. a surprise snowstorm!), or if your
building is experiencing a technology issue that may result in a school-wide cessation of testing.

Testing Tips to Avoid Misadministrations
 Manage Seal Codes! Do not allow TAs to write more than 1 seal code on the board at any time. Once students have
logged into the test, advise your TAs to remove the seal code from the board.
 Remove all Cell Phones before testing begins!
 There is no minimum testing time, HOWEVER all students must remain in a testing section until every student has
completed the section. DO NOT allow test administrators to let students move from Unit 1 to Unit 2 at their own pace!!
 Remind Test Administrators to ASK if they have any questions, DON’T GUESS!
 Check Accommodated Test Forms before you begin testing! If a student starts a test without the correct accommodation
it could result in a misadministration. Check the test form before beginning Unit 1 to ensure the correct test has been
assigned!
 To do this, log into PearsonAccessnext. From the Students in Sessions screen, look at the form column in the student
list (e.g., 15ELO7PBET0001)

Technology Assistance during Testing

Test Administrators and proctors are allowed to help students log into the test, log out of the test and with technical problems that occur
during testing. This includes technical issues that occur on a test item such as a drag and drop item. If a technical problem occurs with a
test item, direct the student to go fwd to the next item, then back, in order to reset the item.
When to report a Testing Irregularity



A "testing irregularity" can include, but is not limited, to:
 Large scale power or internet outages, incorrect accommodations, parent opt-outs, inappropriate behavior by a student (including
cell phones), mishandling of testing materials, cheating, and/or an error made by a Test Administrator.
 A test that is interrupted and cannot be completed at the time (ie. due to student illness, technology interruption)
 All technology issues that causes data loss
Irregularities must be reported within 24 hours of the incident.
Go to testing.dpsk12.org. Select “Assessment Application”, then log in and select “Irregularities”.
CMAS PARCC “Office Hours”
ARE is hosting informal “office hours” to provide an opportunity to answer your PARCC EOY testing and PearsonAccessnext questions. This
is not an in-person session but hosted virtually via Adobe Connect.
