Oregon CattleWomen News The OCW will be at the Oregon Ag Fest
Oregon CattleWomen News
The OCW will be at the Oregon Ag Fest, April 25-26 in Salem. On average, 19,000 people
pass through the gates at this hands on agricultural event! At the Beef Booth, we will hand
out beef samples and answer questions about beef production, beef by-products, open
landscapes and wildlife areas, agriculture production practices, and multi-generational ranching. While
visiting our booth, consumers will be engaged in conversations with ranchers of all ages who will educate
them on livestock management techniques. CattleWomen will describe the commitment ranchers have
to producing quality beef products as well as how we grow a nutritional product that builds strong and
healthy bodies for children and adults alike. Thanks go out to the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association and
the volunteers of all ages who have helped organize this event and plan on “talking beef” to consumers
on behalf of the OCW and OCA at this year’s event! If interested in taking part, please contact
[email protected].
In our continuing effort to promote ranching women and our way of life, the Oregon CattleWomen will
develop a series of videos highlighting family ranching. We are seeking photos of Oregon ranch women
at work for our first production entitled “I am an Oregon Cattlewoman”. These videos will be shown at
our event OCW booths to put a face with our organization and industry. Please send photos with this
theme in mind to Wendy Bingham, [email protected].
Congratulations to Molly Jo DelCurto! Molly is our new Oregon Beef
Ambassador! Molly is currently a student at Linn-Benton Community
College and hails from Cove, Oregon. Molly will be traveling and
promoting beef throughout Oregon. If you have a beef industry event
you would like our Oregon Beef Ambassador to attend, contact the OCW at
[email protected]. Learn more about Molly in next month’s issue of the
Beef Producer! Welcome Molly!!
ANCW Region V 2015 hosted by Oregon CattleWomen
The Oregon CattleWomen are excited to host this year’s ANCW Region V Meeting! We are planning a
fun-filled, educational gathering and invite all cattle women who have a passion for the beef industry to
join us.
This year’s gathering will be held May 14 th-16th at the Running Y Ranch in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The
Running Y Ranch is a full-service Southern Oregon resort situated in the heart of the breathtaking
Cascade Mountain range, just across the California border near Klamath Falls Oregon. The fresh
mountain air, clear star-studded night skies and beautiful landscapes make Running Y Ranch the perfect
place to relax and recharge while talking beef with other CattleWomen. We’ll kick things off Thursday
the 14th with a fireside meet and greet. On Friday we will have dinner at Gerda Hyde's Yamsi Ranch at
the headwaters of the Williamson River, listen to guest speakers including Sarah Liljefelt from the
Schroeder Law Office in Portland discussing Water in the Klamath Basin, Past, Present & Future, and Dr.
Bart Eleveld from OSU discussing Ranch Succession Planning. On Saturday afternoon, participants will
have the option of going on a tour to Crater Lake or playing a round of golf at the resort. A Hospitality
Room will be open Thursday and Friday evening to all who join us! We look forward to seeing you all in
southern Oregon for our ANCW Region V Meeting! Come and join us! Registration materials and event
information can be found at http://www.orcattlewomen.org/.

February was Beef Month in Baker County. Local CattleWomen visited schools and educated kids in
kindergarten through sixth grade about beef. Radio interviews and drawings for OCW’s Beef Certificates
were done to spotlight beef and thank ranchers for their hard work. On March 19th, Baker CattleWomen
celebrated Ag Day by visiting local schools and educating kids about beef production and nutrition. A tritip lunch was provided to students and staff.
Klamath County CattleWomen
The 30th Annual Klamath Farm Expo held the last week of February was a huge
success! The three day event hosted 17 Ag Booths including the Beef Booth, for 900

and shock hands with Klamath residents of all ages. The event was open to the
public in the evenings and brought in thousands of local residents. Thank you to
our volunteers, all who came to visit the Beef Booth and the Oregon Booth Council
