Recital Information!! - On the Move Dance Studio
Recital Information!!
Rehearsal: Saturday, May 16th at Cedar Hill ISD Performing Arts
Center . . . this is NOT a dress rehearsal (no costumes). Wear dance
clothes and bring your dance shoes. No food or drinks are allowed in the
auditorium!!!! Please check the rehearsal schedule carefully for your
rehearsal time or check our website at otmdance.com.
Recital: Sunday, May 17th 2:00 or 5:30 “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” The list of
classes by shows is attached. Please double-check which show your child
is in!
Cedar Hill Performing Arts Center: 1 Longhorn Drive, Cedar Hill
Programs will be available at the recital for $2.00. There is a recital order posted in the studio if you need to know the
order beforehand. Please carefully check the spelling of your dancer’s name on each dance to make sure it is how you
want it to appear in the program.
All Dancers need to be in their dressing rooms NO LATER than 1:30 for the 2:00 show and 5:00 for the 5:30 show!!
(Wednesday 10:30 preschool class may be dropped off backstage at 5:15 since they are 5th in the 5:30 show. Please plan
on bringing them dressed as they are not assigned a dressing room). The auditorium will open at 1:00 for seating for
the 2:00 show and at 4:45 for the 5:30 show . . . PLEASE don’t save seats!! If you are in the 5:30 show, PLEASE do not
come before 4:45. We need to allow time for people to clear out of the dressing rooms from the first show. You will
not be able to get into your dressing room until everyone from the first show has left.
Come dressed in your first costume with hair and makeup ready to go!! Hair needs to be pulled back out of face and
make sure they have on a little makeup so that the stage lights don’t “wash them out”. Dressing rooms will be labeled
for each class with a picture of their costume. All preschool and Kindergarten classes will be in one area. Please label
all of your things to make it easier for the class moms and helpers to find things. We recommend that you come and
dress your child between dances.
Please check the studio lobby for class mom signups. We need some moms to volunteer to stay with each class in their
dressing rooms for all dancers second grade and under. We can either have a couple of moms stay the whole time or
you can pick a shift of 10 – 15 minutes. It is up to each class. You will NOT miss your daughter’s dance. We will come
and get them 3 numbers before they dance and you may go into the auditorium to watch. We will have seats reserved
near the doorway just for the class moms. After they dance, you can meet them in their dressing room.
Each show will be about 2 hours and 30 minutes so please bring coloring books, small games, etc. for your child to have
in their dressing rooms (nothing messy that could ruin their costumes!). Also, PLEASE take your small children to the
restroom before dropping them off in their dressing rooms and in between dances!! All classes will take a bow in the
finale except for the Wednesday 10:30 preschool class. Please pick them up where you dropped them off
immediately after they perform. They are too young to wait backstage for that long. They are more than welcome to
sit in the audience with you and watch the rest of the show (please bring something to put over their costumes as
costumes are not allowed in the audience). Everyone else will need to be picked up in their dressing room immediately
following the finale.
Reminders and Helpful Hints
o
ALL jazz and tap classes will wear tan tights and all ballet classes wear pink. Make sure you have the right color
of shoes (black tap and pink ballet).
o
NO panties under tights! (Unless you have one in a pull-up. . . . .then please go ahead!). No jewelry! (unless it is
part of the costume)
o
PLEASE layer their tights if they are in more than one dance to make things easier between dances (i.e. If
their tap dance is first, put their pink tights on UNDER their tan ones).
o
All hair needs to be pulled back and out of the dancers’ faces. Please talk with your child’s teacher about
specifics for hair. For preschool classes, it is easiest to pull their hair back for both dances.
o
NO food or drinks backstage (except water)
o
NO costumes or tap/clogging shoes in audience.
o
Please put everything in one bag with your child’s name on it. If you decide to take your child from the dressing
room please tell the mom in charge of the group so she doesn’t panic and think she is missing someone.
o
Media 21 is taping the recital and you may pre-order a DVD now or buy one at the show. The students will
watch these over and over!! The little girls always love watching the big girls dance. The DVDs will be mailed to
you in June.

A flyer detailing summer dance camp, preschool classes, and summer technique classes went home a couple of weeks
ago. The dates for dance camp are July 6 - 9th. Please ask an OTM staff member if you need more information or check
our website. Forms for all our summer sessions, including Musical Theater this year, are at the front desk. Make sure
you “like” us on Facebook to stay up to date with important information. Please email me with any questions or
concerns you may have ([email protected]). You may also call the studio phone and leave a message and
one of our staff will call you back (972-775-3646), but please note that the studio is closed over the summer other than
the summer sessions. Voice messages are only checked about once a week, so email is best.
I can’t wait to watch all of our dancers shine on stage! They have worked so hard. Please encourage them to have fun
and smile!
