Vacation Bible School 2015
June 21 – 25, 2015 5:45 pm – 8:30 pm
This year’s theme will help us strengthen our foundation and help
us to realize that we need to build our life on Christ, His word and
with Christian friends. The children will discover that with a firm
foundation in Christ they will become a new creation and then be
encouraged to “go out and make disciples of all nations.”
I am excited to announce that we will be partnering with Habitat
for Humanity this year for several projects.
After talking with
several of the children, we have set a goal to sponsor a room in the
next house. The cost of this is $5,000. We will begin this Sunday
with a coin competition between the grade levels. There will be
buckets outside the Children’s Ministry office for the kids to drop
change in. If you would like to help sponsor or match funds for a
grade level please let me know.
In addition to this, we will be
making stepping stones, writing Bible verses on the 2 by 4’s that will
be used in the house, making a bird house and planter boxes, and
our biggest project will be to construct a section of an inside wall
that will be used for the house that will be built this Fall.
If you would like to help in the kitchen, with construction projects,
keeping the nursery, be a construction crew leader (take kids to
activities), a game leader, or just help behind the scenes, please give
me a call. You will be able to register your children online in the
next few weeks. And forms will also be in the bulletin soon. Check
the bulletin board outside the Fellowship Hall for items needed for
VBS.

"OUR PLAN - OUR WITNESS" In this last session it is time to answer the
question, "So what !?" What will we do with this information? What steps
can we take? The next few decades may be more demanding for the
American Christian as a religious group than any previous period has
been. Handling the challenges well, will depend upon what footing we
might gain - setting our feet on solid ground well ahead of time.

MUSIC NOTES… from Mary
Congratulations to our children's choir on their fabulous musical on
Wednesday night! We were blessed with nearly double the choir we've
had in past years and how wonderful to see these children praise God with
their voices and shining faces! THANK YOU, parents, for your help in
making sure they were there for practice and encouraging them to
participate. Thank you to Chap McMichael and Electro-Mech Scoreboards
loaning us the clock to give our staging a realistic look!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Kathy Boles, who runs
circles around me in assisting with the children by teaching them motions,
prompting with lines and solos and then directs the Youth Handbells on
top of that! God bless you, Kathy!
Chancel Choir, we have concluded our Wednesday rehearsals until
August. Please mark your calendar for three important Sundays: June
14 and July 19 we will have lunch after the 11:00 worship service (spouses
welcome!) then practice for about an hour. On July 12 we will have an Old
Fashioned Hymn Sing and Ice Cream Social at First UMC, combining
choirs, fellowship and lots of fun!
Youth News …. from Jared
