From the Pastor’s Desk –
At the Masses I celebrated last weekend, I mentioned
something about the Pope’s new encyclical “Laudato Si.”
I promised to give you the address of the Vatican website
where the complete text of this historic papal encyclical
can be found, and here it is: www.vatican.va. I should
also point out that last weekend’s Tablet also had some
information about the encyclical, in the form of two
articles. I am ordering some materials (in Spanish and
English) that I can make available in the church, but it will
not be the complete text. In any case, I encourage all of
us to read / study / discuss this timely work by Pope
Francis.
This weekend, our country celebrates 239 years of
Independence from Great Britain. With the signing of the
Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia on July 4,
1776, this great experiment called the United States of
America began. It is still evolving, guided by the wisdom
of the founding fathers (and mothers), and declaring itself
to be “…one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty
and justice for all.” Please take the opportunity this
weekend to pray for our country.
Finally, please welcome our visiting missionary, Fr.
Melanio Viuya, who joins us this weekend at every Mass.

NEW PARISH OFFICE HOURS
Please note: the rectory office closes for one hour to
accommodate our workers’ lunch time. This lunch hour
will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. The office
will still open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 8:30 p.m. The
weekend hours (Saturday and Sunday) will remain as
they are now: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION
Thank you for your generous support of our Holy Father’s
charitable works in the Peter’s Pence Collection. Your
contributions will be combined with those of our brothers
and sisters around the world to help Pope Francis provide
essential relief to people in need. Your generosity is an
act of solidarity with the universal Church, answering the
call to be a witness of charity. May God bless you. (By

accounting of this collection).

Blood Drive in Msgr. Barretta Hall. You may
donate between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Please
tell your friends, for we want this to be a
successful Donation Drive. Be a hero – Save a

PARISH FOOD PANTRY
The Food Pantry is shut down for two months (July and
August). The next distribution of food from our Food
Pantry will be on Wednesday, September 30th. We will
continue to collect non-perishable food – which we
desperately need - throughout the summer, so please
don’t forget the poor and needy when you go food
shopping for your family.

PROGRAMA DE EDUCACION RELIGIOSA / RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Los niños bautizados que asisten a escuela primaria pueden
inscribirse para participar en el programa de preparación para
recibir los sacramentos de Penitencia y Comunión. El ciclo 201516 comienza el 13 de septiembre. Las inscripciones se efectúan
durante los meses de Junio y Julio. Los padres deben llamar a la
oficina al tel. 718-699-8565 y hacer una cita. Deben de traer una
copia del certificado de bautismo. Las clases son los domingos
de 11:15am a 12:45. El costo por el año complete es $80.00
• Los Niños que entran al programa después del Segundo
grado y tienen menos de 11 años de edad y no se han
bautizado deben participar en un programa de tres años.
Los padres de estos niños deben traer una copia del
certificado de nacimiento.
• Jovencitos de escuela intermedia (6, 7 y 8 grados) que no
han recibido la Comunión, deben de participar en un
programa de tres años y se les requieren prepararse para
recibir el sacramento de la Penitencia. Al final de los tres
años, reciben los sacramentos de Comunión y
Confirmación .
• Los Adultos que no hayan recibido cualquier sacramento
pueden inscribirse al Programa de RICA para adultos que
se reúne los domingos. Este programa consiste de dos años
y, al final de estos en el Sábado de Gloria reciben cualquier
sacramento que les falte. Se exhorta a los adultos no
importa la edad, que soliciten a este programa
Baptized children, who attend grammar school, can be
registered to participate in the preparation program for the
sacraments of Penance and Holy Eucharist. The 2015-16 cycle

Children entering the Program after 2nd grade and less
than 11 years of age who are not baptized will participate
in a three-year program. Parents of these children should
bring a copy of the birth certificate.
Children in middle school (6th, 7th or 8th grades), who
have not yet received their first Holy Communion, will be
required to attend a three-year program and will also be
required to prepare for and receive the Sacrament of
Reconciliation (confession). These children will receive
First Eucharist and Confirmation together.
Adults (16 and up) who have not received any of the
sacraments can join the RCIA program by calling the
Office and making an appointment. Adults, regardless of
their age, are strongly encouraged to join this Sunday
program.

Misa de la Virgen del Carmen
Habrá una misa en honor a La Virgen del Carmen, el
sábado, 18 de Julio, en la capilla ubicada en el 103-56 de
la avenida 52, comenzando a las 12 del mediodía. Luego
de la misa habrá una procesión al parque William Moore,
donde se disfrutará de comida, rifas y premios. Venga
temprano, porque el espacio es limitado.
La Despensa Parroquial
La Despensa interrumpirá sus funciones por los dos
meses de verano, julio y agosto, pero distribuirá
nuevamente en el otoño comenzando el miércoles, 30 de
septiembre. Seguimos aceptando alimentos
imperecederos, que necesitamos urgentemente, durante
el verano, luego por favor no se olviden de los pobres y
los necesitados cuando vayan de compra para su familia.
Histórica Novena y Rosario Nacional de 54 días
Únanse a cientos de miles de personas de todas las
edades en oración a lo largo del país, en un MENSAJE
DE ESPERANZA como respuesta a la crisis espiritual en
nuestra cultura y nuestra nación. Esto será desde el 15
de agosto hasta el 7 de octubre del 2015. Recen el
rosario por 54 días consecutivos por las intenciones de la
Novena; 27 días en petición desde el 15 de agosto hasta
el 10 de septiembre, y 27 días en acción de gracias
desde el 11 de septiembre hasta el 7 de octubre. Recen
el rosario individualmente o en familia en sus hogares o
como parte de su comunidad parroquial. La intención
primaria de la Novena es por el matrimonio y la familia,
incluyendo la paz, la vida humana y la libertad religiosa.

Del Escritorio del Parroco:
Mencioné en las misas de este pasado fin de semana la
nueva encíclica del Papa llamada "Laudato Si". Prometí
darles la dirección del portal electrónico del Vaticano
donde puede encontrarse el texto completo de este
encíclica papal histórica. Es el siguiente:
www.vatican.va. Debo también señalar que el periódico
"Tablet" de la semana pasada tenía alguna información
sobre la encíclica en la forma de dos artículos. He
ordenado algunos materiales en español e ingles que
pueden estar disponibles en la iglesia, pero no será el
texto completo. Exhorto a todos ustedes que lean,
estudien y discutan este trabajo oportuno del Papa
Francisco. Este fin de semana, nuestro país celebra los
239 años de independencia de Gran Bretaña. Este gran
experimento llamado los Estados Unidos de América
comenzó con la firma de la Declaración de

Hallan un anillo perdido
Un anillo fue encontrado en la iglesia después de la misa
de Primera Comunión celebrada el domingo, 17 de
mayo, a las 10 de la mañana. Si usted puede identificarlo,

El grupo de parejas “La Familias Dadivosas” se reunirá el
8 de Julio a las 7:30pm en el salón Monseñor Barretta (El

Our parish offers food to those in need through a Food
