St. Luke the Evangelist Church April 12, 2015 Divine Mercy Sunday Dear Parishioners: I wanted to share some reflections with you on the recently concluded Holy Week and Easter celebrations. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication that our choirs put in to leading us in song for the liturgies. I received many compliments on their efforts, and many of you, whether in person or by social media, indicated to me your delight with the adult choir’s rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus at the end of the Easter Vigil Mass. All of the cantors and choirs were excellent, but I wanted to highlight the excellent work of the young adult choir who sang at the 9 a.m. Mass on Easter Sunday. We added the venerable triple Alleluia at the Easter vigil, which has been one of my favorite parts of that Mass for many years now. But more importantly than adding any particular favorites of mine, what I saw this year, and commented on at the Mass, was the good sense of reverence that YOU maintained all through the Holy Week services. From the time most people entered the church, until the time you left, either in silence as called for by the rites, or just of your own accord, there was a good prayerful environment that we created during Holy Week, and I want to thank and compliment you for it! Of course, I hope we continue to keep that during the Easter season and beyond! On another bright note, with the payment we made to the Archdiocese after the very generous Easter collection, our parish debt stands at just under $40,000! It will be paid off, I hope, by the end of May. Then it will be time for us to save up to fix the roof this summer, and to start planning for the future here at St. Luke. God bless you for your continued generosity to the Church! With Easter joy and blessings to you, Father Pat CCD Registration ~ 2015-2016 Hoping to be recognized as companions of Jesus, we pray: Hear our prayer; God of life. Religious Ed Office Sunday April 12, 2015 8:30 a.m.– 12:30 p.m. Monday April 13, 2015 5:30-8:00 p.m. Tuesday April 14, 2015 5:30-8:00 p.m. God of the ignored, you inspire those considered ordinary with boldness to proclaim the gospel. Free us to hear your word spoken by those we least expect. May we always embrace the Christ in whomever he appears, for he lives and reigns for ever and ever.
