Meghan McCabe, V.I.P. at N.C.C.
Meghan McCabe has been
enjoying classes at NCC for
about three years. Meghan
found out about our Center
through her oldest sister,
who works for SPIN. Meghan
was the fifth of six children;
she has two older sisters,
two older brothers, and one
younger brother. Meghan was
born in Philadelphia on July
22, 1981and has lived in the
Lawndale section her whole
life. Meghan attended Our
Lady of Confidence School,
Swenson, and then graduated
from George Washington
High School. At scool,
Meghan liked math class and
playing on the baseball team.
Meghan’s best childhood
memories are of her annual
vacations with her Aunt.
Meghan has spent every
birthday since her Sweet 16
with her aunt in Texas up
until last year, when her
aunt’s family moved to
Florida. Now Meghan flies to
Florida to visit them for her
birthday. Meghan also
remembers a childhood trip
to Disney World to see who
she called “Mickey MOOSE,”
and receiving a doll with

purple hair from Santa Claus.
Purple is Meghan’s favorite
color. Meghan lives with her
mom and two youngest
brothers. They have two cats,
Garfield and Lily. Meghan’s
favorite TV shows are Maury
Povitch (especially the
“Cheaters” or “Who’s the
Daddy?” topics), Law &
Order, Extreme Makeover
Home Edition Full House, CSI
Miami, and Family Feud.
Meghan also enjoys playing
“Farmville” on Facebook.
Meghan and her mom love to
sew, and they belong to a
Wednesday sewing group and
enjoy sewing patchwork
quilts for children who suffer
from illness or abuse through
the “Quilts For Kids” program (www.quiltsforkids.org).
Meghan has lots of friends
and belongs to the BroSis
group, who takes Thursday
trips to museums, plays, and
other recreational ventures.
Meghan also attends the
Jardel Recreation Center on
Saturdays. Meghan said that
she likes Norcom because
there are nice people here
that are good to you. Meghan
loves the parties and special
events and attends a variety
of classes, especially cooking,
arts and crafts, board games,
Wii bowling, E-Buddies, and
playing basketball and hockey
in the gym. Meghan enjoys
hanging out with friends like
Jackie, Brian, and Monica
Maye, and having lunch with
Bobby Effrig. As for the future, Meghan is looking forward to her trip to Florida
for her birthday in the summer. She is very happy and
excited that she was voted
