Presenters Laura Screeney, FASPR, Corporate Director, Office of Physician Recruitment, Health Shore LIJ Health System, President, Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (ASPR) “The State of In‐House Physician Recruitment” As a native New Yorker, Laura was proud to return home to join the North Shore‐ LIJ Health System in May 2010. Laura developed and directs an in‐house Physician Recruitment Program to support 21 hospitals, 400+ ambulatory sites and the Hofstra North Shore‐LIJ School of Medicine. As Corporate Director of Physician Recruitment, Laura leads a team of professionals, who are responsible for the recruitment and onboarding of the medical group’s employed physicians. Prior to NS‐LIJ, Laura was responsible for the development and direction of in‐house Physician Recruitment programs for healthcare organizations from coast to coast: HIP Health Plan, Kaiser Permanente, Lifetime Health Medical Group, Atlantic Health System, the Alaska Native Medical Center and the US Army at Fort Huachuca, AZ. A leader in the industry, Laura is the current President of the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (ASPR). As a charter member of the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (www.aspr.org ), and a charter Fellow of ASPR (FASPR), Laura has played an integral role in the organization’s development and growth. Laura also served on the Northeast Physician Recruiters Association (NEPRA) BOD, www.nepra.org, as well as the NEPRA Chair of Education for many years, and remains active on the Education Committee to date. As an in‐house physician recruitment professional, Laura is proud to be a part of the transformation of healthcare in the communities that she serves. Andrew Thompson, MHA, CMPE, Principal, Provider Compensation Solutions “The Business of Healthcare: A Primer.” Andrew is a seasoned Physician Practice executive with over 18 years of healthcare experience who provides consulting services and education to physician practices, integrated delivery systems and hospitals on provider compensation design and implementation, market compensation analysis and trends and contract negotiation assistance. Andrew provides these services in addition to functioning as the Chief Operating Officer of a large integrated physician group practice. The experience he brings his clients is first hand. He enjoys speaking to local, regional and national groups on topics related to physician employment and compensation. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and a Masters of Healthcare Administration from Missouri State University. He is also a Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) with the American College of Medical Practice Executives. Presenters Jennifer Moody, Senior Manager, Healthcare, ECG Management Consultants “Succession Success ‐ Real‐Time Strategies for an Aging Physician Workforce.” Jennifer is a dynamic healthcare strategist with a wide‐ranging knowledge of physician workforce planning, medical staff development, and provider practice trends. ECG clients value her guidance on health system market planning and physician staffing issues, and they appreciate the insightful, pragmatic approach she brings to all of her engagements. Prior to joining ECG, Jennifer helped found AmeriMed Consulting and served as the firm’s Managing Principal for 15 years. With AmeriMed, she brought extensive expertise and hands‐on management to an array of projects for more than 300 health systems, hospitals, and physician organizations. Jennifer helped organizations define goals and craft implementable solutions to physician recruitment, market development, strategic planning, managed care, and physician clinical operations challenges. Among the engagements conducted by AmeriMed, Jennifer:  Developed legally compliant plans to grow private physician practices.  Conducted primary care distribution analyses to identify potential clinical expansion opportunities.  Assisted integrated health systems with geographic redistribution of specialty service lines.  Evaluated advanced practice provider utilization by physician groups to balance service provision.  Conducted succession planning risk analysis for medical groups and hospital medical staffs. She has also worked closely with leadership to right‐size physician organizations, align providers with emerging care delivery models, and position for success in an evolving healthcare landscape. Jennifer has a master of science degree in accoun ng from the University of North Texas and a bachelor of science degree in poli cal science and history from Texas Tech University.

He currently serves as Vice President of National Sales for Jackson & Coker, a national physician staffing firm. Throughout his career, Thomas has successfully consulted on thousands of physician recruitment initiatives including direct work with health systems, hospitals, multispecialty groups and private practices across the United States Harold Livingston is a Regional Vice President of Business Development at national physician staffing firm Jackson & Coker. He focuses on physician and allied recruitment, relations, tertiary outreach, retention management and medical staff on‐boarding. During his 12+ year career in medical recruitment, Harold has conducted more than 3,200 searches and facilitated numerous medical staff development efforts through strategic assessments and physician needs analysis. Presenters James S. Hernandez, M.D., M.S., Medical Director and Chair, Division of Laboratory Medicine, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, Mayo Clinic in Arizona "Recruiting and Retaining the Best Physicians – A Physician’s Perspective." Dr. Jim Hernandez is board‐certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Prior to joining the faculty of the Mayo Clinic in 2001, he was in private community pathology practice from 1985 until 2001. Dr. Hernandez served as the Associate Medical Director for Mayo Medical Laboratories from 2001 to 2004. He is involved in the integration and standardization of the laboratories of the Mayo Clinic. He also served as the Chairman of the Department of Laboratory Medicine's Clinical Practice Committee, which addresses lab utilization. He instituted a leadership and management program for residents and fellows at Mayo Clinic in 2003 to prepare them for their roles as future laboratory medical directors He served on the Mayo Clinic Personnel Committee in Rochester, MN. He has been the Medical Director of the laboratories and Chair of the Division of Laboratory Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Arizona since 2008. Dr. Hernandez served on the College of American Pathologists Board of Governors from 2012 to 2014. He served on the American Pathology Foundation Board, 1991‐1999, and the Minnesota Society of Pathologists Board, 1988‐
96. He also served on the Centracare Health Foundation Board (philanthropic) from 1996‐2001. Dr. Hernandez has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame, a Medical Degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, and a Masters of Science in Preventive Medicine and Administrative Medicine from the University of Wisconsin‐Madison, encompassing both MBA and MPH skills. He completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado. He has a special interest in leadership, management, lab utilization, quality process improvements, safety and cost‐
effectiveness. Dr. Hernandez has authored 34 peer reviewed publications and has a strong interest in mentoring students, residents and fellows in laboratory medicine and pathology. He is an Associate Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology in the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic. He is the recipient of the 2010 Outstanding Contributions to Management Sciences and Patient Safety Award from the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) and of the AACC Outstanding Speaker Award in 2010, 2011 and 2013. Presenters Bill Friedrich, Director, Market Research, M3 Global Services "Physicians Perceptions of the In‐
house Recruiting Function: Recruiting, Onboarding and Retention – A Panel Discussion with Physicians." Bill Friedrich has been in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 30 years, most of it in market research at three pharmaceutical companies. He is a microbiologist by training, transferred into Marketing Research early in his career, and joined the ranks of market research consultant companies in 2010. He has been at M3 Global research for three years. He has led research support for Brand teams in many disease areas. Given that breadth of coverage, there are few medical or surgeon specialties he hasn't observed or interviewed in research settings. Karen Weinstock, Managing Attorney, Weinstock Immigration Lawyers “A‐Z of IMG Recruiting.” Karen Weinstock is the managing attorney of Weinstock Immigration Lawyers, the premier immigration law firm in Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to opening her own immigration law firm, Karen was the managing attorney of Siskind Susser Immigration Lawyers’ Atlanta office for over 11 years, from 2002 until 2013. Before then, Karen managed a solo law practice in New York City, serving an international corporate clientele. Her personal experience emigrating to the U.S. from Israel and experiencing many hardships, cross‐cultural differences, employment and personal challenges, enable her now to have stronger empathy for her international clientele and better serve their particular needs. Karen has been practicing immigration law exclusively and has over 16 years of experience and expertise in representing U.S. and international companies in technology, manufacturing and other industries in securing their global talent and ensuring the employees and their family members have a good experience immigrating to the U.S. Karen was born and raised in Israel and immigrated to the United States in 2000. She is fluent in English, Hebrew, and Spanish. Her genuine passion for immigration law is a direct result of her personal experience as an immigrant. She is the author and editor of "The H‐1B Book", published by Immigration Law Weekly, and a frequent speaker on immigration law in conferences around the world, publications and the general media.
