COVOARE-UNGHENI JSC – energy efficient windows for carpet factory
Covoare-Ungheni JSC is Moldova’s largest carpet
manufacturer. With a production capacity of 5 million m2 per
year, the company is the market leader in Moldova and is a
major exporter to Europe as well as neighboring countries.
Covoare Ungheni applied for MoSEFF financing for the
replacement of old, leaky windows in its main production
building and to replace two coal boilers with two natural gas
boilers. With an investment of EUR 121,000 the company
achieved energy savings of 21% and CO2 emission
reductions of 77 tons per year. Whilst the combination of
cost reductions and positive environmental impact further
strengthens the competitive positioning of the company, the
higher level of comfort adds to employee satisfaction and
has created a much improved working environment.
