Abitibi-Témiscamingue, joys of winter!
According to popular belief, winter in Abitibi-Témiscamingue is particularly cold and
harsh. It is not how it seems to the people from the region. Our dry climate is well suited
for outdoor activities while the white horizon shines under a bright sun. Yes, the scenery
is absolutely magical! And we know a number of ways to enjoy it. Snowmobiling is a
tradition in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, and the upkeep of our trails has become an art, to the
greatest pleasure of our people and visitors. It is also possible to explore the boreal
forest on snowshoes, cross-country skis, skates, dog sleigh or horseback. Bodies of
water become the setting for ice fishing or paraskiing. And we end the day in the open
air with a cup of spiced hot chocolate or a great meal in one of our many restaurants that
showcase our regional products. Then we relax in a cozy cottage, close to the fire, or we
celebrate culture intensely, chilling with friends around an ice bar. Whatever the place or
the event, the people here are always authentic, warm and friendly.

This winter in the Bas-Saint-Laurent, celebrate with great music, explore the
snow-covered trails and relax in the comfort of a cozy cabin.
In Saint-Bruno-de-Kamouraska, L’Ébranché is a brand new vacation and recreation spot ideal
for families. Hiking, snowshoeing and sledding will be available this winter, with the possibility
of spending the night in a rustic shelter or in out-of-the-ordinary accommodations like a yurt,
wigwam or treehouse. Next year, the four owners will also offer visitors meals featuring local
products as well as additional lodging options, including a campground, a Treepi (a tepee
suspended in a tree) and a simple-but-modern cabin in the woods.
L’Ébranché = An unforgettable stay in the woods
The Parc national du Bic invites anyone seeking fresh air and wide open spaces to come spend
a night in the snowy park. Just a 4-kilometre jaunt on snowshoes leads to the Chalet de l'Abbé
(Baie des Cochons sector), a large cottage with accommodations for six or more, offering
stunning views over the St. Lawrence and its islands. Travelling with that special someone? The
Rioux primitive campground (Rioux sector) is the perfect spot for sweethearts returning from a
romantic winter hike!
Parc national du Bic = A fantastic outdoor getaway
Every year, Rimouski’s big winter happening just keeps getting better! Over a three-week
period, RikiFest offers several major events for winter sports enthusiasts: on January 30, a
provincial ice canoe race on the St. Lawrence; on February 6, a snow rally car race; and on
February 13, an ice sculpture contest. Parc Beauséjour will host a multitude of family activities
and games, as well as a sensational ELECTRO concert to close out the festival. Check the

In addition, the Gleason ski station has invested almost $200 000 in development to enhance its offerings to
its clients. Beginner skiers will have an opportunity to enjoy themselves and gain confidence in the new
learning area (ZAG), with four learning stations. Starting this winter, alpine hiking enthusiasts will find
Gleason to be the perfect location for this recreational activity. Visitors will be able to fully enjoy the Gleason
experience, thanks to improvements to the quadruple chairlifts and the snowmaking system!

Eeyou Istchee Baie-James : Escape like never before

 Festival Folifrets Baie-James – 50th edition!
From February 25 to March 5, 2016, one of the largest and oldest snowmobile event will
celebrate it’s 50th year! The Festival Folifrets Baie-James celebrates the sport of
snowmobiling with a 345 kilometers cross country for the most adventurous riders. To end
the celebrations a week later, the President’s tour bring together more than 600 antique
snowmobiles, an impressive record! The rest of the week is animated with different shows
and thematic evenings for everyone.
 Discover taiga on snowmobile
Mirage Adventure offers different packages whether it is for a simple joy ride or a greater
expedition. Navigate the majestic relief of the taiga with experienced guides. Keep your eyes
opened; with luck you can contemplate caribous and northern lights!
 Snowmobiling and Cree culture
Hit some of the 1100 kilometers of federated trails in the region to join some of the Cree
communities of Eeyou Istchee Baie-James. Onsite discover Cree culture through various

This fall and this winter, Laval is the place to visit for great entertainment!
Summer is over, but fall and winter will be as exciting in Laval! And yes, having fun indoor can be as
thrilling thanks to the diversity and uniqueness of the region’s several attractions. Surfing, wall-climbing, a

The Play Inside Expo – A presentation of CAA Quebec Travel. A new and exciting family event in Laval
The Play Inside Expo provides the perfect answer to a universal question: what activity could we do today
with the kids? The diversity and quality of the indoor activities offered in the Laval region are sure to
attract a great number of families. Yes it’s possible to surf, golf and even experience a free fall jump
simulation – all this all year-round within a radius of only a few kilometres. This free event that will take
place at the Cosmodôme in Laval, on November 7 and 8, will showcase the various indoor activities
offered in the region. Close to 20 exhibitors will be on site to entertain visitors of all ages with workshops,
animation, conferences and demonstrations of all kinds, plus a chance to win great prizes totalizing $1500
in total value.
Seasons of discoveries at the Cosmodôme!
Families will definitely find great entertainment at the Cosmodôme that offers several new and exciting
experiences to adults and children. The 9-13 years old with an inquiring mind will be interested in
attending the Cosmodôme’s Academy, one evening per week during 10 weeks, from January 19 to March
29, 2016. From November 15 to 21, it will be the second edition of the Little Bear Week for children aged
3 to 7. New this year: on December 28 and 29, parents with their children aged 7 and older are invited to
participate in an exciting experience during the first edition of Parents-Children Christmas Camp.
Participants arrive at 5 p.m. and leave the next day at 4 p.m. Finally, on Saturday and Sunday, visitors have
the opportunity to try one of the Cosmodôme’s six simulators. At the cost of $10 per ride, one can feel
the effects of weightlessness, complete disorientation or a walk on the moon.
Hilton’s new suites are now available!
The renovated version of this renowned hotel has apartment-type suites that are perfect for business
people and families travelling in the region. These home-away-from-home accommodation units include a
separate living room with a sofa bed, a dining room for four as well as a fully equipped kitchenette with a
full-size refrigerator, a microwave and a dishwasher, which allows clients to prepare their own meals.
They can also choose between a suite with a closed bedroom or two connecting bedrooms. The hotel now
has 42 apartment-type suites with kitchen and 148 regular rooms that were also renovated, for a total of
190 rooms. Plus, the hotel’s fitness centre will soon be open 24/7.

The Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional Museum: Invites the public to discover the "Radio Frequencies" exhibition
that shows the evolution of radio devices that allow to capture the magic of the waves in 1920 and 1960. The
room also features a selection of artists who worked in the Quebec radio world of the time, these magicians
who could literally hypnotize listeners through the little box that projected their word or music on different
radios.

Winter is for Playing Outside!
Some people just can’t wait for winter; others could do without it. Whatever your inclination, year after year Mother
Nature insists on covering the ground with white flakes. While it’s tempting to consider cocooning for six months,
hunkering down for the season in one of our region’s many fascinating museums, or huddling indoors with your
family, winter in Outaouais is a great time to get outside and play!
So instead of dreading the first snowfall, plan to pull on your boots, skates, snowshoes or skis and have some

A historic outdoor skating rink in the heart of Gatineau
When the Brewery Creek skating rink in downtown Gatineau opens for the winter season, it’s a little blast from the
past: there was a skating rink there from 1984 to 1998, in the former city of Hull. Beginning in January, skaters of all ages
and skill levels will be out in force, enjoying the rink’s 12,000 square metres of ice—not to mention the background
music and a wide range of cultural and sports activities. The rink is lit up at night, and it’s a picturesque spot that fans of
winter are sure to love.
Snowshoeing along the Route des Zingues
Visiting the Petite-Nation sector? Explore the newly expanded (by 5 km) Route des Zingues, a 20-km trail created by two
volunteers for the sheer love of nature. Winding through forests, along lakes and over hills, the trail offers easily
accessible, magnificent views. An ideal expedition for snowshoers of all skill levels!
Snow news is good news for cross-country skiers in Outaouais
Fall is officially here, and cross-country skiers are waxing up the boards in anticipation of another invigorating winter
season. In the heart of downtown or out in the country, on the edge of a frozen lake or amid the hills of Gatineau Park,
enjoy one of North America’s most extensive networks of cross-country ski trails, and discover the joys of Outaouais in
winter. Best of all, three major ski events will be held in our region this winter: the 50th annual Canadian Ski Marathon,
North America’s longest and oldest cross-country ski even; the Gatineau Loppet, the biggest cross-country skiing event
in Canada; and the Ski Tour Canada 2016 – FIS Cross-Country World Cup, where, for the first time in history, the world’s
top athletes will meet in Canada (in Gatineau, the starting point) for the most prestigious multi-stage ski competition of
the year.

Red Bull Crashed Ice
Adrenaline, anticipation, and the framework to perhaps the most spectacular man-made course in sport will fill the
streets of Quebec City on November 27-28, 2015 when the electrifying clink of heavy metal to ice and the

 A makeover for the Mont Édouard
In the last months, the Mont Édouard ski station invested more than 2 M$ to improve
their facilities with new equipment and the development of new ski trails. The off-piste
