Our Mission - WinterKids
“The WinterKids Passport completely transformed
our family’s attitude toward winter and, more
importantly, transformed our behavior. Winter went
from being a non-physical indoor season to a
whole family activity extravaganza!”
– Kelly Desrosiers, WinterKids Passport Parent

What’s more thrilling than sledding down a snow-covered hill
for the very first time? Our Welcome to Winter festival introduces
outdoor winter fun to immigrant and refugee families that are
new to Maine. Through outreach and education, we promote
positive perceptions about winter and show kids and their
families how much fun winter can be!

“We live in a state troubled with health issues, particularly among young people. I feel like
I had such great opportunities growing up to ski and snowboard in the Maine mountains,
so I am glad to give back by reaching out to kids and encouraging them to get outside
and participate in healthy winter sports.” – Seth Wescott, Two-time Gold Medalist in
Snowboardcross, Spokesperson for WinterKids
