SINOPSIS
SYNOPSIS
Muestra unos momentos cruciales para el futuro del país. Cuando los conformistas y
carentes de principios (Volodya) tomaron las riendas de la sociedad Soviética y
eventualmente de su destrucción. La figura más encantadora y humana en la
película es Alik, interpretado por el famoso bardo ruso Yuri Vizbor. Alik representa
la parte escéptica y honesta de la sociedad Soviética, que no tenía muchas
esperanzas para un futuro brillante y trató de disfrutar de la vida, evitando vender su
conciencia.
It shows the time of the choice of a future way for the country. In fact the choice was
already made in October 1964, when conformist climbers and unprincipled egotists
(Volodya) took a lead of the Soviet society and eventually destroyed it. The most
charming and human figure of the movie is Alik, played by the famous Russian bard
Yuri Vizbor. Alik represents the honest and skeptical part of Soviet society, that
didn't have much hope for the bright future and tried to enjoy the life, avoiding ranting
and bargaining with the conscience.

Volga-Volga is a remake of the cult Soviet comedy musical of the late 1930s directed
by Grigory Aleksandrov. This story depicts a gifted village girl. Local bureaucrats try
to hinder her going to Moscow for a singing competition, but she goes to the capital
with success. The lead was played by Liubov Orlova - the Russian Marlene Dietrich.
This is the strangest remake in the history of cinema as the 1930s version has been
preserved completely, with the exception of the leading actress and soundtrack. In
this new version the main character is played brilliantly by the well-known Russian
artist Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe, which gives the film an absolutely new
metaphysical feel to the production.

El más famoso cineasta soviético cineasta desde Sergei M. Eisenstein, Andrey Tarkovskiy estudió música y árabe en Moscú antes de matricularse en la escuela de cine Soviética
VGIK. Llamó la atención internacional con su primer largometraje, La infancia de Iván (1962), que ganó el primer premio en el Festival de cine de Venecia. Esto dió lugar a

BIOGRAPHY
The most famous Soviet film-maker since Sergei M. Eisenstein, Andrey Tarkovskiy
studied music and Arabic in Moscow before enrolling in the Soviet film school VGIK.
He shot to international attention with his first feature, La infancia de Iván (1962),
which won the top prize at the Venice Film Festival. This resulted in high
expectations for his second feature _Andrei Rublyov (1969)_, which was banned by
the Soviet authorities until 1971. It was shown at the 1969 Cannes Film Festival at 4
o'clock in the morning on the last day, in order to prevent it winning a prize - but it
won one nonetheless, and was eventually distributed abroad partly to enable the
authorities to save face. Solaris (1972), had an easier ride, being acclaimed by many
in the West as the Soviet answer to Kubrick's '2001' (though Tarkovsky himself was
never too fond of it), but he ran into official trouble again with El espejo (1975), a
dense, personal web of autobiographical memories with a radically innovative plot
structure. Stalker (1979) had to be completely reshot on a dramatically reduced
budget after an accident in the laboratory destroyed the first version, and after
Nostalghia (1983), shot in Italy, Tarkovsky defected to the West. His last film,
Sacrificio (1986) was shot in Sweden with many of Ingmar Bergman's regular
collaborators, and won an almost unprecedented four prizes at the Cannes Film
Festival.

Marlen Martynovich Khutsiev es un cineasta soviético nacido en Georgia y conocido por sus películas de culto de los
años 60, que incluyen "I am Twenty" y "La lluvia de julio". En 1986 fue nombrado "artista del pueblo".
Khutsiev estudió cine en el VGIK, graduándose en 1952. Trabajó como director en el estudio cinematográfico de Odessa
desde 1952 a 1958 y trabajó a tiempo completo como director en Mosfilm desde 1965 en adelante.
Su primer largometraje, "Primavera en la calle Zarechnaya" (1956), mostraba la inicial liberalización de la primera

BIOGRAPHY
Marlen Martynovich Khutsiev is a Georgian-born Soviet and Russian filmmaker best known for his cult films from the 1960s, which include I Am Twenty and July Rain. He was
named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1986.
Khutsiev studied film in the directing department at the VGIK, graduating in 1952. He worked as a director at the Odessa film studio from 1952 to 1958, and worked full-time as a
director at Mosfilm from 1965 onwards.
Khutsiev's first feature film, Spring on Zarechnaya Street (1956), incapsulated the mood of the Khrushchev Thaw and went on to became one of the top box-office draws of the
1950s. Three years later, Khutsiev launched Vasily Shukshin "as a new kind of popular hero" by starring him in Two Fyodors. His two masterpieces of the 1960s, however, were
panned by the authorities, forcing Khutsiev into something of an artistic silence. Since 1978, Khutsiev has taught film directing master classes at the VGIK.
His 1991 film Infinitas won the Alfred-Bauer Prize at the 42nd Berlin International Film Festival.

Leonid Iovich Gaidai nació el 30 de enero de 1923, en la ciudad de Svobodny, región de Amur de Siberia,

Leonid Iovich Gaidai was born on January 30, 1923, in the town of Svobodny, Amur region of Siberia, USSR.
He studied acting at the Drama Studio of the Irkutsk Drama Theatre. He graduated in 1947, and was an actor
of that theatre until 1949. From 1949-1955 he studied as film director at State Institute of Cinematography
(VGIK) under Grigori Aleksandrov, Mikhail Romm and Ivan Pyryev. From 1955 Gaidai was a film director at
the Mosfilm Studios under his mentor Mikhail Romm. Gaidai used literary material by Ilya Ilf and Yevgeni

Vladimir Motyl, nació en Lepiel, Bielorrusia. Se graduó en el Instituto de teatro de Sverdlovsk. Durante 10 años trabajó en varios

Elder brother of Nikita Mikhalkov, born August, 20, 1937. He entered VGIK-the major state film school
where he studied under Mikhail Romm. At VGIK he met Tarkovsky, they collaborated on Ivan's childhood
and Andrei Rublev. For his length feature debut The First Teacher (1961), he chose the book by Chingis
Aitmatov about the post-1917 Revolution period in the southern Russia. His next film, a black and white
Asya Klyachina's Story although made in 1966 was not released until a decade later because it failed to
comply with the strict requirements of the Russian censorship of the period. A Nest of Gentry (1969) - a
study of the 19 c. aristocracy - was praised for its visual beauty but attacked by critics as mannered.
Konchalovsky's powerful Uncle Vanya (1970) from the play by Chekhov is regarded by many people as
one of the best films in the Russian language ever but it was not until he made his next two films that he
became a worldwide famous film maker. A larger than life love story Romance for Lovers (1974) won an
honor at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival and Sibiriade (1979) - a dramatic and realistic story of the lives of
the people of Siberia - was internationally acclaimed and brought Konchalovsky to the attention of
American and European producers. From then onwards his career has been international in scope.
Pleasing critics and cinema-goers worldwide he made English language artful films Maria's Lovers (1984),
Runaway Train (1985), Duet for One (1986) (praised for Max von Sydow's brilliant performance), and
Homer and Eddie (1989) starring Whoopi Goldberg.
