Apple
ROSES
- Serves 6 -
Ingredients
Cooking spray
1 frozen sheet of reduced
fat puff pastry, thawed
1 red apple
1 tablespoon apricot jam
1 teaspoon water
EQUIPMENT
You’ll need a muffin tin
and pastry brush
Always get
permission and help
from your parents or an
adult before cooking,
especially when using
peelers, knives and
the oven.
DIRECTIONS
1 Preheat oven to 180
6 Using a pastry brush, brush
2 Lightly spray a muffin tin
7 Layer the slices of apple on
degrees Celsius (fanforced)
with cooking spray
each piece of pastry with
the apricot jam.

3 While your pastry is
thawing, cut the apple into
quarters and remove the
core. Then cut each
quarter into very thin
slices
8 Fold up the other half of
the piece of pastry so the
apples are covered. Squash
down each end of the strip
of pastry a little to keep
everything together
4 Place apricot jam and
water in a small bowl and
microwave on high for 10
seconds then stir with a
spoon so that the jam
becomes thinner.
5 Once your pastry is
thawed, use a
knife to slice
the pastry
into six even
pieces.
9 Carefully roll up the piece
of pastry from one end
into a snail shape to form
your rose.
10 Place your apple rose in
the muffin tin
11 Repeat with the rest of the
pieces of pastry and apple
slices until you have six
apple roses.
12 Bake for 40-45 minutes
until the pastry is golden
and cooked all the way to
the centre of the rose (if
you notice your apples
starting to burn, cover the
muffin tin with a piece of
foil).
