due to give
birth to her and
husband Kyle
Lowder's (Rick, The Bold
And The Beautiful) daughter
in December, the expectant
mother could be excused for
devoting her time to decorat­
ing the nursery and picking out
baby clothes. But instead the
actress is more than happy
to chat about her impending
motherhood, and what we
can expect in the Days
Of Our Lives baby-switch
scandal in which her character
of Nicole is a key player.
How excited are you and
Kyle about your pregnancy?
"It is awesome when you can

get pregnant, because
getting pregnant is a privilege.
We were very excited."
Are you doing anything spe­
cial to prepare for the child?
"I think I am pretty good at it.
People say you don't know
what it's like until you take
a child home with you, but
I have loved kids all my life.
I worked with children's
gymnastics for seven years
when I was younger. I think
I have always wanted to be a
mum since I can remember."
Will you take any maternity
lealle from Days when
the time comes?
"Yes, a short one, if you will
Were you hoping for a girl?
"It did not matter if it was
a girl or a boy. But since
it's a girl, I wanted her to be
a little ballerina, but daddy
will get her a pony. I can only
imagine little girls and horses.
It's pretty crazy, and I could
not be happier."
On Days, Nicole's
machinations with babies
halle been horrendous.
Was it odd playing her
now that you're pregnant?
"I don't relate anything I do
in my personal life to my
character. Number one, we
would not be more opposite,
and number two, I am not a
method actor. It is easy for
me to separate things, when
I walk on and walk off the
set. Even between emotional
Nicole's baby storyline has
been an amazing ride. Halle
you enjoyed the chance to
show off youl acting chops?
"Oh yeah, definitely! To tell
you the truth, the longevity
this storyline has had is pretty
darn amazing. I feel so lucky
that we have a creative writ­
ing team and a head writer
that are wonderful. Everything
shoots so fast now, so you
really have to come to work
prepared. It pushes you as an
actor to be as much on your
game as you can. People like
to make fun of soap actors,
but it's funny when we get film
actors who will do guest spots;
they have a different respect
for us. They are like, 'Oh, my
God! I don't know how you
do this day in and day out'."
Is your pregnancy being
written into the show?
"No. I will not be
pregnant on the show.
The wardrobe department
has done an amazing job
at hiding the pregnancy."
Nicole gets away with so
much. Do you mSfllel at
some of the stuff she does?
"I can best describe Nicol as
a survivor. I have never had 0
be like that, so it's interestlng
to see what a survivor does
Nicole will do whatever it takes
to make things work for her."

Eric Martsolf (Brady)
could be a potential love
interest for Nicole. How
is working with Eric?
"He reminds me of my
husband, and the two of
them together are a kick
in the pants. In the on-screen
part of our relationship we
had to get serious, because
we can get too comfortable
with each other. So, we
actually had to have a
conversation about it."
Would Nicole be there
for Brady if he starts
using drugs again?
"I would like to say she
would have some dignity
and self worth, that she
would think of someone
else besides herself.
So I am going to go
with, yes (laughs)."
What can we expect next
for Nicole? Right now Rale
(Galen Gering) is breathing
down her neck.•.
"Let's put it this way: if
someone was on your tail
and really close to finding
out what you did, how do
you think you would be?
Pretty flippin' paranoid! She
is definitely on the paranoid
side. I always have to be
constantly on my toes."
Do you and Kyle, watch
each other's work?
"We don't. We work so
many hours. We play
catch up on our own shows.
But if we have some scenes
that we want each other
to see, then we will."
Nicole and her
co-conspirator Dr Baker
(John Callahan) got
away with so much.
How was it working
with the soap veteran?
"He cracks me and he is so
funny. We had a ton of good
times. When he first came on
the show it was great because
he has this really strong per-

sonality, but it's a humorous
personality and I loved it."
What's it like working with
James Scott (EJ)?
"Pain in the butt (laughs)!
I know you all think he is so
debonair and fabulous, but
he's a dork! He is hysteri­
cal. The funny thing between
James and me is how we first
created our relationship on the
show. We would do things to
each other, and we would not
tell each what we were going
to do in rehearsal. It created
a trust between us."
Speaking of trust, what will
EJ do when he finds out
Nicole has lied to him?
"Give me cement block
What do you think of
Kyle's show (B&B) winning
a Daytime Emmy?
He was so cute. B&B won
best show, and they had never
won. And yes, Days lost. So
Kyle ran up on stage, and
he looked at me in the front
row and went, 'I am so sorry',
because we both wanted our
shows to win. I thought it
was great for them, and
Kyle was so excited. I am
just so excited that our
show is back on the map.
