Safety without compromise.
Performance is a prerequisite of any sports car. It goes without saying.
But so too is safety, and here the new Scirocco more than delivers. A
comprehensive package of safety features includes the sensor-controlled
Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) with Electronic Differential
Lock (EDL) and Traction Control (ASR) which reacts to critical driving
situations within milliseconds, helping to maintain control by adjusting
the engine’s output and controlling the speed of individual wheels. Also,
an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps prevent the wheels from locking
when braking and is supported by Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA) which
reacts to an emergency braking situation by boosting brake pressure
to help maximise braking effort. In addition, under emergency braking
the hazard lights are automatically activated helping to give advanced
warning to other road users.
Alongside these active safety measures, passive safety features include a
curtain airbag system for front and rear passengers, front seat side impact
airbags, and driver’s and front passenger’s whiplash-optimised head
restraints, helping to protect in the event of an accident. To enhance your
driving experience still further, the new Adaptive Chassis Control (ACC)
lets you select Normal, Comfort or Sport setting, depending on the road
conditions and driving style you require.

acceleration of a powerful engine? It’s what sets a real sports performer apart.
And in this respect, the new Scirocco excels, offering an award winning engine
with phenomenal results. TSI technology delivers an outstanding combination
of high performance, excellent torque and efficient fuel consumption through
a combination of downsizing, direct injection and turbocharging. The truly
exhilarating 2.0 litre turbocharged engine develops 200 PS and is available
with a six speed manual or six speed auto DSG gearbox. In manual form, the
new Scirocco will accelerate to 62 mph in 7.2 seconds on its way to a top speed
of 146 mph, where the law permits, but can still achieve 37.2 mpg on the Combined
fuel cycle*. Opt for the DSG gearbox and a truly impressive 7.1 seconds is all it takes
to achieve 62 mph, yet it still achieves the same impressive Combined fuel cycle*
figures as the manual gearbox.
The DSG gearbox offers a genuine alternative to a manual gearbox because it
is able to change gear faster than a manual gearbox and more smoothly than a
conventional automatic. The DSG gearbox also features an auto hold function
which prevents your new Scirocco from rolling back when pulling away or during
a hill start, making every journey just that little bit easier.
