Pakistan by five runs in the final.
Played its first Twenty20 International against South Africa
at Johannesburg in December 2006, winning by five wickets.

Failed to reach the second round of ICC CWC 2007 after
losing to Bangladesh.
Scored the highest ICC CWC total when making 413-5 against

Born: Cape Town, South Africa
Appointed India coach in December 2007. Made 101 Test and 185 ODI
appearances for South Africa as an opening and middle-order batsman.
Played the second longest Test innings of 275 in 878 minutes
against England at Durban in 1999. Is one of four brothers to have
played first-class cricket. One of his brothers, Peter, also represented
South Africa. Made the highest ODI score for South Africa with 188
not out against United Arab Emirates at Rawalpindi during the ICC
CWC 1996.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (C)
DOB: 07/07/81 Born: Ranchi
Batting/Bowling Style: RHB/WK/RM
Is the only player to appear in all 20 of India’s T20 Internationals.
Scored 154 runs at an average of 30.80 and a strike-rate of 128.33
while captaining India to the title at ICC WT20 2007. Scored 332 runs
at a strike-rate of 127.20 for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier
League in 2009. Became the first Indian wicket-keeper to reach 200
ODI dismissals during the series against South Africa this year.

DOB: 29/04/79 Born: Delhi
Batting/Bowling Style: RHB/LFM
Was India’s leading wicket-taker at ICC CT 2009 with eight at an average
of 15.50. First five-wicket ODI haul came against Sri Lanka in 2005.
His best ODI bowling figures came when he took 6-23 against England
in Durban at ICC CWC 2003. Has struggled with injuries and missed four
years of international cricket before returning last year.

Batting/Bowling Style: RHB/WK
Scored 183 and 150 for South Zone v West Zone in the final of the
Duleep Trophy at Hyderabad this year, but still finished on the losing
team. Made his first Test century on only his second appearance.
Played with some success in the ICC U19 CWC 2004 scoring 70 not
out off 39 balls in the match against Sri Lanka in Dhaka. Scored 288
runs at a strike-rate of 132.71 for Delhi Daredevils in the 2009 Indian
Premier League.

Is India’s leading run-scorer in T20 Internationals with 552 at an
average of 30.66 and a strike-rate of 126.02. Scored 75 off 54 balls
in the final of ICC WT20 2007 against Pakistan at Johannesburg.
Scored 534 runs at a strike-rate of 140.89 for Delhi Daredevils in the
2008 Indian Premier League. Was ranked the number one Test batsman
in the Reliance Mobile ICC rankings earlier this year.
Harbhajan Singh

Batting/Bowling Style: RHB/OB
Has one of the best economy rates for India in T20 Internationals at 6.55,
having taken 16 wickets in 17 matches. Together with Suresh Raina he holds
the eighth wicket partnership record in T20 Internationals with 61 against
New Zealand in Christchurch 2009. Took 13 wickets in the match, including
India’s first Test hat-trick when India beat Australia after following-on at his
favourite ground, Eden Gardens in Kolkata, in 2001. Took 12 wickets at an
average of 21.33 and economy rate of 5.81 for Mumbai Indians in the 2009
Indian Premier League.
Piyush Chawla
DOB: 24/12/88 Born: Aligarh
Batting/Bowling Style: LHB/LB
Is the second youngest player, after Sachin Tendulkar, to appear in a
Test match for India, aged 17 years, 75 days when he made his debut
against England at Mohali in 2006. Took 12 wickets at an economy
rate of 6.86 for Kings XI Punjab in the 2009 Indian Premier League.
Took 13 wickets at an average of 12.15 and economy rate of 3.21 for
India at ICC U19 CWC 2006, including 4-8 in the final against Pakistan.
A useful batsman, he averages 28 in first-class cricket and made his
maiden first-class century with 102 not out for Sussex v Worcestershire
at Worcester last year.
Praveen Kumar
DOB: 02/10/86 Born: Meerut
Batting/Bowling Style: RHB/RFM
Has one of the most economical spells in Twenty20 history with
4-0-5-2 for Uttar Pradesh v Madhya Pradesh at Jaipur in 2007.
Has performed tidily in ODIs, with best bowling figures of 4-31
against Sri Lanka at Hobart in 2008, but has only played one T20
International prior to the start of the event. Is a useful pinch-hitter
and scored 76 not out off 53 balls for Uttar Pradesh v Vidarbha in an
Inter State Twenty20 match at Jaipur in 2007. His cricketing hero
was Kapil Dev.

Scored 60 not out batting at number eight on his ODI debut against
Sri Lanka Colombo in February last year. Had a highly successful
Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra in 2008/09, scoring 739 runs at an average
of 67.18 and taking 42 wickets at an average of 19.92 to force his
way into the national team. Played in two matches at the ICC World
Twenty20 2009. Appeared at ICC U19 CWC 2006 and 2008, taking
10 wickets at an average of 13.20 and an economy rate of 3.14 to help
India win the 2008 tournament.

Batting/Bowling Style: RHB/OB
Scored the only century in the first season of domestic Twenty20 in
India in 2006/07 when he made 101 not out off 45 balls for Mumbai v
Gujarat at Mumbai. Scored 362 runs at a strike-rate of 114.92 and
took 11 wickets at an average of 14.63 with a best of 4-6 for Deccan
Chargers in the Indian Premier League 2009. Scored 309 not out for
Mumbai v Gujarat at Mumbai in a Ranji Trophy match in December
last year. Represented India at ICC U19 CWC 2006 in Sri Lanka,
scoring 205 runs at an average of 41.00.
Suresh Raina
DOB: 27/11/86 Born: Ghaziabad
Batting/Bowling Style: LHB/OB
Has played 90 ODIs and 11 T20 Internationals without appearing in a
Test match. Scored 61 not out off 43 balls including five sixes in a T20
International against New Zealand at Christchurch in March last year.
Earlier this year he became the second player after Adam Gilchrist
to reach 1000 runs in the Indian Premier League. Represented India
at ICC U19 CWC 2004 in Bangladesh, scoring 247 runs at an average
of 35.28.
Vinay Kumar
DOB: 12/02/84 Born: Davanagere
Batting/Bowling Style: RHB/RM
Is yet to make his debut for India in any form of the game.
Had a match double of 82 and 4-46 for Karnatka v Goa in a Vijay
Hazare Trophy match at Chennai in 2008. Took 53 wickets in
first-class cricket in India in 2009/10, including a career best 8-32
for Karnataka v Delhi at Delhi. Has played for Royal Challengers
Bangalore in all three seasons of the Indian Premier League.

Has scored his 313 T20 international runs, prior to the start of this
tournament, at a strike rate of 153.43. Hit India’s fastest ODI century
off 60 balls against New Zealand at Hamilton in March last year.
Hit the first three balls he faced for six in a Twenty20 International
against New Zealand at Christchurch in February last year. He is
a Think Wise Champion, the ICC’s partnership aimed at raising
awareness of HIV.
Yusuf Pathan

Batting/Bowling Style: RHB/OB
Scored 100 off only 37 balls for Rajasthan Royals v Mumbai Indians
at Mumbai during the 2010 Indian Premier League. Scored 108 off 76
balls and 210 not out off 190 balls to help West Zone score the highest
winning fourth innings total in first-class cricket to beat South Zone
in the final of the Duleep Trophy in February this year. Half-brother of
Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan. His favourite movie is Castaway.
Yuvraj Singh

Batting/Bowling Style: LHB/SLA
Struck six sixes off an over from England’s Stuart Broad at Durban
during ICC WT20 2007 on his way to the fastest Twenty20 fifty off 12 balls.
Was India’s leading run-scorer at ICC WT20 2009, with 153 runs at a
strike-rate of 154.54. Is the son of former Indian player and Bollywood
star Yograj Singh. Made his ODI debut at the ICC Champions Trophy
2000, scoring 84 in his first international innings against Australia.
Zaheer Khan
DOB: 07/10/78 Born: Shrirampur
Batting/Bowling Style: RHB/LFM
Was India’s joint leading wicket-taker at ICC WT20 2009 with seven
at an average of 17.57. Took his best T20 International bowling
figures of 4-19 against Ireland at Nottingham during ICC WT20 2009.
Is one of six bowlers to have taken 200 ODI wickets for India.
Made the highest score by a number 11 batsman in Tests when he
hit 75 against Bangladesh at Dhaka in 2004.
