FROM THE OFFICE
VILLAGE WIDE GARAGE SALE: Sign up at the
office. The list and map will be available April 4th in
the afternoon to give people as much time as possible to sign up. You can pick up a copy at the office
or the front gate. Garage Sale runs for 9:30am to
2:30pm on April 5th.
EMAIL DISTRIBUTION: About a year ago
Ken’s email was changed to allow him to send out
more mass emails to hundreds of addresses (he used
to have different accounts because the email could
only handle so many); consequently this caused all
the email addresses that were on the distribution list
to disappear, and people had to go online to our
website www.bbvcc.com and personally sign-up to
receive his distribution emails. If you have not received his email in the last few months this is probably the case. We invite you to resign up, or sign up
for the first time, at our website under the “Contact
Us” tab, Email Links, and clicking “Subscribe Now”
ATTENTION CLUBS, GROUP, & COMMITTEES: If you would like an article included in the
“June” Newsletter that goes out in the June Packet
(to all membership) submit something to [email protected] by April 11, 2014! Keep articles
fairly short and concise (up to 150 words or less) due
to limited space, but otherwise we would love to
hear from you.
MOORAGE RENTERS: Marina keys are in!
Come in and fill out the paperwork for your new
keys. Remember that the switch for the locks doesn’t
take place till June 1st.
UPGRADE YOUR MAILBOX: You can still purchase a new mailbox through the office. $100 includes installation by some very competent, skilled
volunteers. Once the office has the $100 and your
information a volunteer will call you and set up an
installation time. Look forward to hearing from you.
DEFIBRILLATORS: BBVCC currently has two
(2) defibrillators; one at the Clubhouse and the other
is in the Security truck. Security can deliver the second defibrillator to a residence, but due to liability
reasons of Pacific Security they may not help or use
the defibrillator. However, the instructions are spoken to you and are simple.
FRONT GATE: There was a notice in last month
bulletin that you do not need to come to a complete
stop when entering the Village through the
‘Members’ lane since the new bar code scanner is
much more sensitive. Some members thought that
the ‘Stop’ sign should be removed so it wouldn’t be
so confusing. The consensus was it should remain
as drivers should still stop and proceed with caution. Someone tried following through the gate by
tailgating the car in front of them and got whacked
by the gate arm and reasoned that the Bulletin said
you do not need to stop. This vehicle went by so
fast the bar code did not register in the system as the
scanner did not have time to read the bar code.
Please follow normal procedures when entering. Allow the gate arm to come down to a resting
position and then proceed slowly, making sure the
arm raises, check traffic and proceed. Not allowing
the gate arm to come to a rest puts undue strain on
the arm as it jolts down then up and will cause the
arm to crack and break. Thanks.
PARK RESTROOMS: Will be opened by the first
of April for your use. Kwann Lake Park, Sunset
Park, and Sand Dollar park restrooms all have no
electricity and are closed for the winter to prevent
frozen pipes. The last freeze should have come and
gone so they will be opened for the summer.

YACHT CLUB
YACHT CLUB CONT’D
On March 19th we held the 4th lecture in our Yacht
Club Education Series. Thirty-two people attended our
session on “Boat Electrical Systems & Stray Current/
Galvanic Corrosion.” Our speakers, Shawn Clarke &
Jason Reid of Pacific Marine Electric, talked about all
things electrical (which is totally magic for me). They discussed electrical/wiring safety hazards in detail and
shared troubleshooting techniques & tools. They touched
on the use of isolators & solar panels and gave us a brief
education on the effects of galvanic corrosion and how
to combat stray current. We finished off the evening with
a great round of Q&A followed by our raffle for topicrelated goodies.

GOLF NEWS
GOLF NEWS
Let the games begin!: Well, the
golfing never really ended for some
over the winter, but the first tournaments of the season start this month.
Hope you can bring your “A” game
to the following:
Don’t delay…get your 2014 annual golf pass now:
Annual golf passes, 10-round punch cards, golf cart trail
decals and more are available at the BBV Office. Anyone
not having a 2014 Annual Golf Pass or a Sponsored Golf
Pass must pay the required $10 “Honest Box” day fee to
play when the Golf Shop is not open. Enjoy the course!
 April 5th – BBV-Golf Lab Tournament, 11am shotgun
Winter/spring reminders:
Non-golfers: The golf course may seem empty
and inviting right now, but golfers are out there.
Please, no walking, biking, playing, etc., on the course.
Don’t risk being injured or causing unintended damage to the course.
Golfers: The course is still prone to damage as it
dries out and recovers from winter. Please keep motor
carts on concrete paths when directed to do so; keep
hand carts off tee boxes and greens; carry sand and fix
fairway divots; repair ball marks on the greens; and, if
the occasional frost is still present, do not start play
until it melts. Help keep our golf course healthy and in
good playing condition And, always respect private
property.
Honor the Honor Box: If you don’t have a valid
current Annual Golf Pass, and the Golf Shop is
closed, you must pay a $10 day-fee. Day tags and pay
envelopes are available on the front wall below the
locked Honor Box. It’s a bargain and not worth risking a fine and/or the embarrassment of being caught
not paying. Thank you!
(10:30 check in); members $20, guests $40
 April 12th – BBV Masters, 9am shotgun (8:30am check
in); $10 entry; net score + selected pro’s score

informally on Thursdays at 11am, both weather permitting. Join in on the fun.
BBV Golf Club “charter member” deadline approaches: Speaking of joining in on the fun, membership in the new BBV Golf Club was over 95 strong as
this was written and will certainly top the 100 mark soon.
As a reminder, ..."The Golf Club welcomes participation
by BBV golfers and non-golfers alike, including our non-golfing
spouses and guests." The cost is only $5 (US) per person!
Join before the first Annual Spring Meeting on May 9,
2014 and you will be a Charter Member and eligible for
special recognition. Give or mail the following information for each person wanting to become a member,
along with the $5/person fee, to Ron Bogen
(Treasurer), 8119 Comox Rd., Blaine, WA 98230:




Name and complete address

GHIN Membership # (not mandatory, but required
for some golf events)
Please do this soon so you can be included in and receive
a copy of the 2014 BBV Golf Club Membership Roster,
along with all the Club activity dates and more. Questions? Contact any of the following BBV Golf Club officers: Bob Simpson (President; 360-371-2636;

MUSIC GROUP
A big “Thank You!” to the Social Club for allowing us to
entertain them once again this year at their annual St.
Pat's Day Dinner. The food was fantastic, and so was the
audience!
Thanks as well to everyone who turned out for our Irish
Sessions on March 8th, and once again to Mike Kent and
Windermere Real Estate, who sponsor this event each
year and make it possible to serve those wonderful
corned beef pub sandwiches and other goodies.
We have no more special events planned for the next
month or two, but as the weather gets warmer we will be
holding impromptu jam sessions at Lighthouse Beach on
sunny, warm Friday nights. Anyone interested in being
notified of these should request to be added to our email
list. Send an email to [email protected] to get your name
added.
The music group is currently a group of 8 musicians and
a couple faithful supporters. What type of music we play
depends on whether or not we have a performance coming up, and who is there that night. Anyone is welcome
to join the group, for an evening or for years! We're always looking for people to enjoy our music with--those
who want to participate as well as those who just come
to listen.
We meet each Monday night at 7pm and play until 9
(except on Pizza Night, the third Monday of the month).
We usually have 2 guitars, an accordion, a keyboard, a
mandolin and a fiddle or banjo, as well as several singers.
The kind of music we play is determined by who attends
and any special events we may be preparing for.
For more information call Cathy at 371-3852.
