A Good Christmas
including the Home’s two newest
arrivals. These 14 year old twin
brothers have only been at the
Home a few weeks; they have
never celebrated Christmas
and, surprisingly, never been for
a meal in a proper restaurant.
After feasting on a large
selection of seafood, and not a
Brussels Sprout in site, the
children gathered for a lucky
draw which saw all of them
receive a gift. The following day
the children with special needs
Santa at Father Ray Day
Care Center
Early on Christmas Day the
toddlers arrived at the Father
Ray Day Care Center for a
morning of singing, dancing,
eating and fun, and all was going
well until Santa arrived. The
children know who Santa is, they
had seen photos of him and
watched him on TV, but to see
him in the flesh was too much
for many of the youngsters.
There were screams of terror
as they watched a very tall red
suited white bearded and bell
ringing man make his way
towards them. It was a few
brave young 3 year olds who
held their Christmas party and
words cannot describe the noise
that more than 100 children
made. Again there was lots of

Christmas. Food was served
buffet style, and each project
provided the entertainment.
The toddlers from the Day Care
Center jumped around the stage
in fancy dress, teenagers from
the Children’s Home gave a
traditional dance performance
and the wheelchair dancers
amazed everyone. The girls
from the Children’s Village hulahooped, there was a magic show
from the teenagers with special
needs and the blind students
danced like

Jetstar Asia Celebrates 10
years in Asia
Jetstar Asia enters the second
decade
of
commercial
operations this month and
celebrates a decade of low
fares, innovation and travel. In
the last ten years, Jetstar Asia
has carried more than 23 million
passengers and introduced low
fares to 22 destinations in 13
countries in Asia. Founding CFO
of Jetstar Asia and current CEO,
Bara Pasupathi, said he had
witnessed first-hand the
transformational effect low
fares have had on passengers.
“In Asia, we have sold close to
8.3 million fares for under SGD80
and have created thousands of
new opportunities for travel,” he
said. The Singapore-Jakarta
route, along with the SingaporeKuala Lumpur and SingaporeBangkok routes are some of the
busiest LCC routes in the world.
Mr Pasupathi said combining low
fares with innovation has been
key to Jetstar Asia’s ability to
continue to cater for the
changing needs and demands of
the consumer. A commitment
to innovation has been core to
Jetstar Asia’s first decade and
will continue to play an important
role in the second. “We were
the first to introduce the virtual
assistant, straight-to-gate
service, self-service kiosks and
bag drop services and most
recently, the mobile boarding
pass in Singapore all making
travel easier and importantly
more accessible, which is what
low fares are all about. In the
coming decade we will roll out
the services across the region
and continue to invest in
solutions that help keep our
costs low and our service
offering innovative” said Mr
Pasupathi.
New Appointment
eventually got near, and within
minutes Santa was mobbed by
children all wanting to tug his
beard and rub his fat belly. At
lunch time 79 residents from the
Father Ray Children’s Home
went off for Christmas lunch,
food, and all the children
received several gifts. But the
event many children had been
waiting all year for arrived on
the evening of the 26th, when
almost 1,000 children and
students gathered to celebrate
and groaning under the weight
of all their Christmas gifts. On
the way home, the two brothers
agreed that they love
celebrating Christmas and can’t
wait for next year.

SAM’S MEXICAN & AMERICAN GRILL
On this eating out occasion it was to try a few
Mexican and American recipes courtesy of Sam
at his very popular aptly named restaurant Sam’s
Mexican & American Grill located in Jomtien
Complex (near to Poseidon Hotel). Cheerful
Sam, who has over 40 years of cooking
experience, is a self confessed paperless chef
who has travelled throughout Mexico and
gathered a wealth of the country’s delicious
traditional and authentic recipes along the way.
One can enjoy the food either inside the
extensive cantina style restaurant or out on
the terrace area to watch the world go by.
Breakfast is served from 10am until 3pm with a
Lettuce, Tomato and Mayo. The American
Dinners include Pork Chops (295 baht), BBQ Soft
Ribs (310 baht) and Beef Rib Eye Steak (500
baht), all served with choice of Potato,
Vegetables and Bread. Then it is on to the
Mexican Food offerings, with 12 inch Burritos
and a choice of Beef, shredded Chicken or
Chorizo at 160 baht, or with Fish (155 baht),
Shrimp (180 baht) and Vegetarian at 145 baht.
Tacos are served either soft or hard shell, with
ground Beef or shredded Chicken (60 baht).
Enchiladas filled with Cheese (75 baht) and

baht with Steak and Guacamole. Plates including
Mexican Beans and Rice start at 200 baht for
shredded Chicken or Beef to 315 baht for Carne
Asada Steak (thinly sliced grilled Beef). Fajitas
are available from 290 baht for either Chicken
homemade Potato Salad and homemade
Coleslaw. It wouldn’t be American if Hot Dogs
were not on the menu – and Sam offers a regular
Hot Dog (80 baht), Chili Dog (100 baht) and
Chili Cheese Dog at 125 baht. A bowl of Chili
good selection of English, American, Mexican
with homemade Pork Chorizo, and even Scottish
fayre including Lorne (skinless and square)
Sausage; all ranging from 99 baht to 180 baht.
On the main menu one can choose a very good
assortment of Starters and Appetizers from 80
baht for Moe Joe Fried Potatoes to 225 baht for
an Appetizer Platter containing Jalapeno
Poppers, Chicken Bites, Spring Rolls, Tortilla
Chips and Salsa. Freshly prepared Salads are
available from 90 baht for a Mixed Green to 225
baht for a Taco Salad with either Chicken or
Beef topped with Cheese, Pico de Gallo (fresh
uncooked Salad made with chopped Tomato,
Onion, Coriander and Lime Juice), Guacamole,
Sour Cream and Salsa. Then on to the American
Favourites section with charbroiled Burgers from
160 baht for a regular Hamburger to 210 baht
for a Chili Cheeseburger, all served with Fries or
Con Carne with Taco Chips is 175 baht.
Sandwiches come with Fries or Potato Salad and
Coleslaw, starting at 150 baht for Tuna or
Chicken Breast to 200 baht for Sam’s Club triple
decker Sandwich with Bacon, Ham, Cheese,
or Beef to 335 baht for Shrimp. Authentic Thai
food is also available from around 90 baht. So
to the eating! We tried the Pork Chops, and
two firm favourites, extremely good tasting BBQ
Pulled Pork (180 baht) and an equally delicious
Philly Cheese Steak Sub (180 baht) –thin slices
of Steak grilled with Onions, Bell Pepper, topped
with Melted Cheese and served in a soft French
Bread Roll with a homemade Dill Pickle. From
the Mexican menu we went for Chicken Fajitas
and a very enjoyable Taco and Enchilada Plate
(215 baht). All in all Sam’s turned out to be a
very good eating out experience.
Wine is
available at 110 baht a glass. Sam’s is closed on
Sundays, located in Jomtien Complex at 413/37
Thappraya Road. Telephone: 082 218 1518.

Finally, the officers got into the

PATTAYA PEOPLE WEEKLY ISSUE 479 | SATURDAY 3RD TO SATURDAY 10TH JANUARY 2015
Reassess your risk appetite for 2015, investors warned
Investors need to reassess their risk appetite for 2015, warns a
leading global analyst at one of the world’s largest financial
advisory organisations. The warnings from Tom Elliott,
International Investment Strategist at deVere Group, which has
80,000 clients and $10bn under advice, are in response to
expectations of rising market volatility over the next 12 months
as well as regulatory changes. Mr Elliott explains: “Investors
who are sensitive to market volatility may need to increase their
exposure to defensive sectors and stock markets, because stock
market volatility is likely to increase in 2015. “The uncertainty
over the ongoing development of the euro project, and Japan’s
use of massive fiscal and monetary expansion to achieve
consistent economic growth, represent existing political risks for
investors. “2015 may also see some increase in risk coming from
other countries. For instance, we may discover if China’s private
sector has taken on too much debt, if a wave of defaults from
property companies, for example, leads to a banking crisis, will
the Chinese government bail them out? What will the impact be
on growth? “In addition, it should be noted that a weak Russian
bear is potentially more dangerous than a strong one, and if
export energy prices remain depressed and the economy falls
into recession, President Putin may choose to ramp up the rhetoric.
“However, the country most likely to experience a rise in political
risk is the UK as voters and investors make sense of a new
political landscape, triggered by two nationalist parties (UKIP
and the SNP) challenging the Conservative and Labour parties’
traditional dominance of Westminster. The spring general election
may well result in a minority government that seeks allies on a
policy-by-policy basis, or another coalition government. Neither
promises stability. He continues: “In terms of the evolving
regulatory requirements, a wave of post-credit crunch financial
sector regulation, most notably the American 2010 Dodd-Frank
Act, have caused investment banks to allocate less capital to
market making, in both stock and bond markets. “As a result
financial markets have become less liquid, and as the October
‘flash crash’ demonstrated, more susceptible to panics. “The
high yield bond sector looks most vulnerable to this problem,
even when the run-up to the credit crunch liquidity was thin.
Rolling over debt for high yield issuers may become expensive,
negatively affecting earnings and their stock valuation.” Mr Elliott
concludes: “In light of both the pressing geopolitical factors and
the changing regulatory landscapes, it would be prudent for
many investors to reassess their risk appetite for 2015 with their
independent financial adviser.” Income inequality damaging
to economic growth, says OECD The Organisation for
Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) found that
income inequality has a “statistically significant impact” on
economic growth. The OECD research showed that an increase
of inequality in the UK cost the economy almost 9% of GDP
growth between 1990 and 2010 and the US lost some 7%. The
OECD also found that redistribution of wealth via taxes and
benefits does not hamper economic growth. “This compelling
evidence proves that addressing high and growing inequality is
critical to promote strong and sustained growth and needs to be
at the centre of the policy debate,” said OECD’s secretary
general, Angel Gurría. “Countries that promote equal opportunity
for all from an early age are those that will grow and prosper.”
According to the research, the gap between rich and poor is at
the highest level in 30 years across the 34 countries that form
part of OECD. The richest 10% in those states earn, on average,
9.5 times the poorest. In the 1980s, they earned 7 times as
much. The only countries in which the OECD found inequality
had fallen were Greece and Turkey. The problem stems, the
group said, from a lack of investment in education. Fewer
educational opportunities for disadvantaged individuals had the
effect of “lowering social mobility and hampering skills
development,” the report warned. It also said that those whose
parents have low levels of education suffer most when inequality

rises, whereas family background matters less to those from a
more educated social sphere. US House passes $1.1tn
budget Only hours before government was set to shut down
this month, the US House of Representatives passed a $1.1tn
budget with a 219-206 vote. Although it was a measure put
forward by the Republicans - who won control of both the House
and the Senate last month - President Obama had urged
Democrats to support the budget. The budget should fund the
government until September 2015 but some areas are set to
only receive short term funding. “Thank you and Merry
Christmas,” were the first words of a relieved John Boehner, the
Republicans’ House leader. The day’s chaotic events were another
reminder of the capital’s increasingly polarised political climate,
as well as a signal that fresh fault lines may lie ahead in a
Democratic party still regrouping after its stunning losses in
November’s midterm elections. The day also exposed the growing
rift between President Barack Obama and parts of his own party.
In total, fifty-seven Democrats voted for the bill, but others
were angry about the president’s call for support of the
Republican bill, with Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi saying
she was “enormously disappointed” at Obama’s position. “I’m
enormously disappointed that the White House feels that the
only way they can get a bill is to go along with this,” Pelosi said
on the floor of the House. “That would be the only reason I think
they would say they would sign such a bill.” Fed weighs heavy
on the emerging markets Emerging markets have been
struggling on the back of tough economies but the Federal
Reserve in the US might not be cutting them any slack, as it puts
off its pledge of low rates for a “considerable time”. As the US
economy continues to improve, it seems now less and less willing
to give others a chance to catch up. This collision in interests
means that Fed chairwoman Janet Yellen has a delicate
communications challenge at her last monetary policy meeting of
2014. The meeting will be putting Fed doctrine to the test as
international issues spill over onto local policy. So far it seems
that the US will only weigh in on international issues when they
affect the US. If Yellen sends a strong signal on rate rises it could
extend a rout in emerging markets by sucking capital back into
the US.The declines in the Russian rouble, Turkish lira and Brazilian
real have triggered an exodus into havens such as US Treasury
bonds. This highlights a issue for the rate-setting Federal Open
Market Committee. The Fed is growing steadily more confident
of rate rises by the middle of 2015 after the best run of US data
since the beginning of the crisis and subsequent recession. It
wants to prepare markets that are pricing in slow rate hikes. Yet
global weakness is a risk to the US economy, not least while
inflation remains well below target, with prices up 1.4% on a
year ago. The Fed has been in a pre-meeting communications
blackout for the past week. UK inflation decreases to its
lowest in a decade Falling oil and food prices have driven UK
inflation to its lowest level in more than a decade, delivering a
boost to the spending power of households who are still
recovering from a period of stagnant wages. The consumer price
index rose by just 1% in the year to November, the Office for
National Statistics said on Tuesday, the lowest level since 2002
and down from 1.3% in October. With the price of oil continuing
to slide, most economists expect the rate to fall still further over
the coming months and to remain well below the Bank of England’s
2% target for an extended period. The price of Brent crude fell
below $60 a barrel on Tuesday for the first time since 2009. Mark
Carney, the governor of the Bank of England, said the fall of
more than 40 % in oil prices since June was unambiguously good
news for the UK. The impact will “flow quickly through to
consumers and increase real disposable income and is a net
positive for the UK economy”, he said. Separate data from the
ONS also established that the period of rapid acceleration in the
UK housing market looks to be over. House prices increased by
10.4% in the year to October, a notable drop from the 12.1%
increase recorded in September. BP expects $1bn job cuts
charge Tumbling oil prices have led BP to prepare for a sweeping
$1bn cost-cutting programme which will see several thousand
jobs cut as part of restructuring charges over the next year.
The oil company is also planning to cut capital expenditure further
as part of its strategy for 2015, having already announced a
reduction of $1bn-$2bn across the group next year. The
company is updating investors on Wednesday on its plans for
the upstream and downstream businesses as the world’s majors
start to take action in response to a 40 per cent slide in crude
that has sent their own share prices plunging. “We have already
been working very hard over these past 18 months or so to
right-size our organisation as a result of completing more than
$43bn of divestments. We are clearly a more focused business
now and, without diverting our attention from safety and
reliability, our goal is to make BP even stronger and more
competitive,” said Bob Dudley, chief executive. “The simplification
work we have already done is serving us well as we face the
tougher external environment. We continue to seek
opportunities to eliminate duplication and stop unnecessary
activity that is not fully aligned with the group’s strategy.” The
group has been divesting parts of its portfolio in recent years
and is now a third smaller than it was four years ago. It plans
$10bn of asset disposals by 2016 as part of its restructuring
plan. Analysts are expecting cuts in exploration spending and
possible project deferrals.

Meet York
Adoption of the Week
To help the Pattaya Animal
Coalition, we at Pattaya People
Media Group are creating a
regular section to allow for
stray animals, especially dogs,
to be adopted and hopefully
receive love and attention and
most of all a new home. This
week we have York! York is a
stray male dog aged around 2
years who recently found a
new home in a village in
Pattaya. Sadly, some people
in the village started to beat
him and hunt him making him
more and more scared of
strangers. He is very friendly
and extremely clever and does
not hurt other dogs or people.
He was vaccinated in June,
2014 and would be a perfect
family dog with a watch dog
instinct. He needs an urgent
home, as some people in the
village have said they want to
“do something” if he is not gone
soon. York can be delivered
free anywhere in Pattaya and
Bangkok. If you would like to
receive further information on
Pattaya Animal Coalition
programme and the other
animals in need of help, please

WATCH MOVIE ONLY 120 BAHT EVERY WEDNES-
your belt with a feisty romance or three. Make yourself presentable, available and
open. The assorted festive flotsam will wash up on your shore.
ARIES (MARCH 21 - APRIL 20) Aries feel on top of the corporate heap and can
make great strides in any career plans. Can you make an indelible mark on authority
figures or will it be more of a scratch? Maybe the lure of the boardroom is not that
intoxicating to you. Does the suit fit or does it chaff? Decide what you really want and
how much it will cost you emotionally and in your life balance.
TAURUS (APRIL 21 - MAY 21) The world beckons. Get ready for great adventure
that tips the scale on extravagance. Taureans yearn to travel but may not have the
dough for it. At least not this week! So try to experience everything that life has to
offer even if you don’t travel all that far. Get out of your usual comfort zone and try
looking at the world from a different angle. Err prone with a six pack?
GEMINI (MAY 22 - JUNE 21) Geminis have their time to dance the dance. Will you
do it alone or with a certain delightful elf? You find the time to heat up your hormones
to a crispy fry. But don’t let them burn to ash. The secret of your sexy success is to be
a bit choosy and take things in moderation with an eye to future happiness. Okay,
maybe you don’t have to plan that far ahead.
CANCER (JUNE 22 - JULY 23) Partnerships become a more important part of your
life. Cancers feel the need to solidify current relationships and seek new, practical
ones. You may even aspire to advance your social standing with a new liaison from the
cream of the social crop. Seek and you shall find. But will they respect you in the
morning? Do you really care?
LEO (JULY 24 - AUGUST 23) Leos are revitalized this week. You have more energy
than usual and may even feel like taking on a more rigorous exercise regime or diet.
Why not hire a personal trainer and get those buns in motion? Day to day work also
takes on a new and brilliant hue. You become a star on the job. Show ‘em what’s
cooking in the cubicle. Err what’s that smell?
VIRGO (AUGUST 24 - SEPTEMBER 23) Virgos can let it all hang out if they want,
this week. Go out and holiday party hearty. Play, daydream, create. Tap into your
artistic muse. Not only can you expand your imagination, you can also add a notch on
LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 24 - OCTOBER 23) Circumstances this week highlight any
ongoing, intense family matter. It’s now or never to deftly handle what needs to be
done. But remember - Nobody pushes Libra into a corner. Examine the circumstances,
peel back and examine the real issues and set the record straight once and for all. You
have nothing to lose but a lot of aggravation and yet another Christmas fruitcake.
SCORPIO (OCTOBER 24 - NOVEMBER 22) Right or wrong, you are usually right.
Now you’re more on target than usual. Scorpios always seem to know the appropriate
thing to say at the appropriate time so tell it as you see it. Write a scathing letter to the
editor or to some politician. Don’t wait too long though. Issues get old and stale quickly
and you’ll go back to sniffing the fridge for unpleasant smells.
SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 23 - DECEMBER 22) Money matters actually do matter
now. What do you really value, aside from a darn good time? Any financial problems
can suddenly seem surmountable so pull out the checkbook, pay your bills and get
yourself back into the black. Save something for a rainy day. Fiscal stability can be in
the stars if you set your mind to it. Heck, even you can do it, Sagittarius.
CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 23 - JANUARY 20) The next few weeks are a revitalizing
and refreshing time for you. Step into the center of the action and see who presses and
impresses. Capricorns have ample charisma and just need a little more personal oomph
and confidence. Begin new things, meet new folks and freshen up your over-ripe
appearance. You’re the one to know. So get your act together and take it on the road.
AQUARIUS (JANUARY 21 - FEBRUARY 19) If there was ever a time to polish off
your crystal ball and have a good psychic look, this is it. Aquarians plum the depths of
their intuition and delve into the occult. You may even feel surprisingly invincible. No
nasty surprises can be dredged up to harm you. Hidden enemies are thwarted in their
dastardly deeds and you find opportunities to exact your revenge. Just wait....
PISCES (FEBRUARY 20 - MARCH 20) Pisces needn’t rely on the kindness of
strangers now. Pals are there for you to provide ample moral support for any personal
problem and great camaraderie just for the heck of it. Enjoy the holiday cheer while
you can. The time may soon come for you to examine long term goals and commitments
with an idea to downsize and belt tighten. ... in the new year!

At Pattaya City Hospital, we
know that Lipomas can grow in
many places and we know how
to relieve the pain and take
away the problems.
Lipomas are slow-growing,
nearly always benign, adipose
tumors that are most often
found in the subcutaneous
tissues. Most lipomas are
asymptomatic,
can
be
diagnosed
with
clinical
examination and do not require
treatment. These tumors may
also be found in deeper tissues
such as the intermuscular
septa, the abdominal organs,
the oral cavity, the internal
auditory
canal,
the
cerebellopontine angle and the
thorax. Lipomas have been
identified in all age groups but
usually first appear between 40
and 60 years of age.Congenital
lipomas have been observed in
children.Some lipomas are
believed to have developed
following blunt trauma.
Multiple lipomatosis of the trunk
(hereditary
multiple
lipomatosis).
Evaluation
Lipomas usually present as
nonpainful, round, mobile
masses, with a characteristic
soft, doughy feel. The
overlying skin appears normal.
Lipomas can usually be correctly
diagnosed by their clinical
appearance alone.
Microscopically, lipomas are
composed
of
mature
adipocytes arranged in lobules,
many of which are surrounded
by
a
fibrous
capsule.
Occasionally,
a
nonencapsulated
lipoma
infiltrates into muscle, in which
case it is referred to as an
infiltrating lipoma.
Four other types of lipomas may
be noted on a biopsy specimen.
Angiolipomas are a variant form
with co-existing vascular
proliferation. Angiolipomas may
be painful and usually arise
shortly
after
puberty.
Pleomorphic lipomas are
another variant in which
bizarre, multinucleated giant
cells are admixed with normal
adipocytes.Pleomorphic
lipomas’ presentation is similar
to that of other lipomas, but
they occur predominantly in men
50 to 70 years of age. A third
variant, spindle cell lipomas,
has slender spindle cells
admixed in a localized portion
PATTAYA PEOPLE WEEKLY ISSUE 479 | SATURDAY 3RD TO SATURDAY 10TH JANUARY 2015
Lipoma Excision
of
regular-appearing
adipocytes. A newly described
variant of superficial lipoma,
adenolipoma, is characterized
by the presence of eccrine
sweat glands in the fatty tumor;
this type is often located on the
proximal parts of the limbs.
A rare clinical consideration is
Dercum’s disease, or adiposis
dolorosa,
which
is
characterized by the presence
of irregular painful lipomas most
often found on the trunk,
shoulders, arms, forearms, and
legs. Dercum’s disease is five
times more common in women,
is often found in middle age,
and has asthenia and psychic
disturbances
as
other
prominent features.
Malignancy is rare but can be
found in a lesion with the clinical
appearance of a lipoma.
Liposarcoma presents in a
fashion similar to that of a
lipoma and appears to be more
common
in
the
retroperitoneum, and on the
shoulders
and
lower
extremities. Some surgeons
recommend complete excision
of all clinical evidence of a
lipoma to exclude a possible
liposarcoma, especially in fastgrowing lesions.Recently,
magnetic resonance imaging
has been used with some
success to differentiate lipomas
and liposarcomas.
Treatment
N O N E X C I S I O N A L
TECHNIQUES
Nonexcisional treatment of
lipomas, which is now common,
includes steroid injections and
liposuction.
Steroid injections result in local
fat atrophy, thus shrinking (or,
rarely, eliminating) the lipoma.
Injections are best performed
on lipomas less than 1 inch in
diameter. A one-to-one mixture
of 1 percent lidocaine
(Xylocaine) and triamcinolone
acetonide (Kenalog), in a
dosage of 10 mg per mL, is
injected into the center of the
lesion; this procedure may be
repeated several times at
monthly intervals. The volume
of steroid depends on the size
of the lipoma, with an average
of 1 to 3 mL of total volume
administered. The number of
injections depends on the
response, which is expected to
occur within three to four
weeks. Complications, which
are rare, are the result of the
medication or the procedure,
and can be prevented by
injecting the smallest total
amount possible and by
positioning the needle so that
it is in the center of the lipoma.
PREPARATION
FOR
EXCISION
Surgical excision of lipomas
often results in a cure. Before
the surgery, it is often helpful
to draw an outline of the lipoma
and a planned skin excision with
a marker on the skin surface.
The outline of the tumor often
helps to delineate margins,
which can be obscured after
administration
of
the
anesthetic. Excision of some
skin helps to eliminate
redundancy
at
closure.Proposed incision
removing skin over the lipoma.
The palpable borders of the
lipoma are marked to aid the
surgeon in complete removal.
The skin is then cleansed with
povidone iodine (Betadine) or
chlorhexidine
(Betasept)
solution, making sure to avoid
wiping away the skin markings.
The area is draped with sterile
towels. Local anesthesia is
administered with 1 or 2 percent
lidocaine with epinephrine,
usually as a field block.
Infiltrating the anesthetic in the
subcutaneous area surrounding
tumor (Figure 3). Dissection is
then performed beneath the
subcutaneous fat to the tumor.
the operative field creates a
field block.
EXCISION
Larger lipomas are best
removed through incisions
made in the skin overlying the
lipoma. The incisions are
configured like a fusiform
excision following the skin
tension lines and are smaller
than the underlying tumor. The
central island of skin to be
excised is grasped with a
hemostat, or Allis clamp, which
is used to provide traction for
the
removal
of
the
Any tissue cutting is performed
under direct visualization using
a no. 15 scalpel or scissors
around the lipoma. Care must
be taken to avoid nerves or
blood vessels that may lie just
beneath the tumor.
Please come to see Dr. kitti, our
orthopedic Surgeon, for
consulting and surgery.

PATTAYA SPORTS CLUB MEMBERS
Karen Brown with Ted Morris.
Torben Sorensen with Dave Richardson.
CAFE KRONBORG
22nd Dec: Christmas Fayre
Alec Chilcott Cup at
Bangpakong. This event was
started many years ago by the
former golf chairman Alec
Chilcott where the concept is
the entry fee is a gift wrapped
golf gift that are all placed on a
table and the best score has the
pick of the lot until the worst
score picks up the last gift. Only
one flight and the full 6 pins.
The construction on Route 314
held us up for about 10 minutes
so if you are going there soon
leave early. We had a quick
check in and off the first tee
under sunny skies with winds
blowing a moderate gale. The
course was in good shape very
wet in places due to sprinkler
malfunctions earlier in the
morning. The course was very
busy taking 4 hours and 50
minutes to get around. Back in
the clubhouse Torben Sorensen
(20) was the winner on a
countback from Peter Bygballe
(21) second, both with a fine 38
points. Despite the trying
conditions, Maurice Herberg
(11) came third on a countback
from Andre Van Dyk (16) fourth
on a countback from Rob Brown
(11) fifth - all 37 points. We
wish to thank Cafe Kronborg
host Bjarne for donating this
year’s fine trophy. Long Putts:
9 Peter Hammond, 18 Kurt
Sandgaard. Near Pins: 2 & 13
Peter Bygballe, 7 Mike Winfield.
TROPICAL GOLF GROUP
Friday, Dec 19th: Crystal
Bay, Stableford. Fate has
smiled on us recently. Crystal
Bay is in very good condition,
and the only minor complaint
was some spots were a little
brown and dry – something we
haven’t come across in months.
Also the previously disgusting
showers have been renovated
and functioning perfect ly.
Weather cooperated this day
also, with breeze strong enough
to affect some shots but also
keeping people cool. With such
favorable conditions who would
have the sense and skills to take
advantage of the “A” and “C”
nines? The large turnout
allowed for generous prize
giving, and we ended up in two
flights with five prizes in each,
plus near pins and long putts.
In the B-flight (19+) the winner
was Karen Brown (36) with an
impressive 40 points! Well
played Karen, and keep it up!
Coming second was the Silver
Fox, Barry Oates (24) with 35
points, beating out Jim Ferris
(20) and Barry Elphick (22) with
the same total. It pays to finish
strong. Rounding out B-flight
was Brad Robbins (19) at 34
points. A-flight came in with
impressive scores, and in the
end Ted Morris (14) took the
honors with 39 points.
Congrats! Next was John
Hackett (16) with 38, Landis
Brooks (10) over Paul Sharples
(14) both with 37, and finally
Rob Brown (10) with 36. Well
played all! Near pins: John
Davis, John Hackett, Mick
Coghlan, Mashi Kaneta.Long
Putts: Dick Warberg, Mashi
Kaneta.
Where is Santa?
John Anderson, Patrick Poussier and Sal Brizzi.
GROWLING SWAN
22 nd Dec: Khao Kheow.
Monthly Mug Stroke.
We welcomed Volker Buley from
Germany and Nolan Wise from
Australia. A bumper field of 36
punters faced the starter who
sent us on our way playing the
B and C nines in that order.
Patrick Poussier playing great
golf in the conditions won the
monthly mug shooting ninety
off the rod which from his
twenty three handicap equated
to a nett sixty seven. In the A
grade Sal Brizzi (6) continued
his good form with a nett
seventy one. Mike Gosden (14)
handed in a seventy two whilst
Kevin Waycott (9) was
absolutely delighted to have a
gross score of 41/42 = 83 and
a nett seventy four to take
third place. Don Richardson
(12) was fourth with a nett
seventy six. In B grade Alain
Taddei (17) showed the way on
nett seventy three closely
followed by Mashi Kaneta (16)
on seventy four. Fred Cuypers
(16) and Rita Zobeli (23), both
with nett seventy seven made
the podium. In the C grade,
John Anderson (28) handed in
nett seventy two to take first
place which included a no lakey
five putt nine on the last hole.
Nolan Wise (36) with nett
seventy three and Mark Henkel
(25) and Thomas Cotton (25)
on seventy four rounded it out.
Near pins went to Peter Bye on
B3 and C8 with Rita Zobeli on
B8 and John Davis C3
completing the set. Long first
putts were won by Dave
Fletcher on B9 and Mike Gosden
on C9.
1 st Christmas Pattaya
Classic
Before he prepared for a very
busy Christmas, Santa Claus
was seen taking a last minute
break and playing some golf in
Pattaya. In order to raise funds
for a children’s orphanage,
Santa was invited by local
developer Kingdom Property
and Pattaya City to take part
in The Ultimate Christmas Golf
Tournament. Hosted by the
Jack Nicklaus designed Laem
Chabang International Golf
Resort, players were competing
in The 1st Christmas Pattaya
Classic on 20th December.This
unique nine hole tournament
hosted by The Pattaya Golfer
magazine was held on the flood
lit Lakes Course designed by
Jack Nicklaus with Santa Claus
teeing off too. Nigel Cornick
CEO at Kingdom Property
added, ‘Many of us enjoy
playing golf throughout the
year so what better way to
have some Christmas cheer at
night with a tournament at this
top international course, which
also raised some badly needed
funds for this great local
orphanage.’To help launch their
new magazine the Pattaya
Golfer, Exact Trading the
publishers and organisers of the
tournament wanted a seasonal
feel and apart from teeing off
with Santa they also invited a
30 voice choir from the Pattaya
Orphanage to sing carols.
Pattaya is known for its nightlife
but it also has a thriving golf
industry with over 1.2 million
rounds played on its 23 courses
last season. In 2012 it was
awarded by IGATO ‘Best Golf
Destination
Asia
and
Australasia’. Everyone in
Pattaya wishes all golfers
around the World a very happy
New Year….Ho Ho Ho!

PSC 139th Monthly Golf Tournament
Tuesday 23rd December at
Pattaya Country Club
There were 137 golfers in the
field with 132 participating in the
Tournament and with perfect
weather the scores were
extremely varied with many
having trouble on the greens
which still need a fair bit of work
done on them. With a 2 tee start
and a big field it was quite a
busy day and unfortunately
slow play was once again
predominant with Golf Chairman
Mark West announcing that in
future these Tournaments will
reasonable drink prices. Time for
the Presentations and Peter
Blackburn welcomed all and
introduced Golf Chairman Mark
West. Mark expressed his
appreciation to today’s players
and those who assisted him at
the course and to Dave from the
Sportsman pub for the food, the
PSC office staff for the pretournament work and Kit and
Patti who sold the 50/50 lucky
draw tickets. He also thanked
Shenanigan’s for donating 2 x
1000 baht food and drink
vouchers which provided 2 more
be restricted to a field of 120
with a waiting list. Once again
PSC departed from the usual

sees teams from local charitable
organizations
competing
against each other. Teams from
the Father Ray Children’s
Home, the Pattaya Orphanage, Boys Home Banglamung
and Baan Jing Jai battled it out in the afternoon heat, but
it was the team from the Banglamung Boys Home which
carried off the winner’s cup, beating the Pattaya
Orphanage in the final. Not only did the captain of the
winning team, 15 year old Somchai, lift the winner’s trophy,
but he was also awarded well deserved trophies for Player
of the Tournament and Top Goal Scorer. The following day
12 teams, 6 adult and 6 youth, including 3 of the teams
from the previous day, gathered at the Father Ray
Children’s Home to take part in the annual CH Charity
Soccer Tournament. While most teams were from the local
area, one team of youngsters traveled from the province
of Pathum Thani, north of Bangkok to play, and were
disappointed they did not play as well as they hoped.
Outright winner of the youth competition was the team
from Banglamung Boys Home, with the Father Ray
Children’s Home, playing on home turf, coming second.
Young Somchai once again lifted the winner’s trophy and
also received the Player of the Tournament award, and if
he keeps playing the way he has played this weekend
there is a promising future ahead of him.

Championship The final
round of the heavily contested
Thailand 600 Super Sport
National
Motorcycle
Professional Championship
came to the very new Chang
International circuit at Buriram.
Local pro rider from Pattaya
Ben Fortt, who has been riding
the MV Agusta F3 throughout
the season, rode on the track
for the 1st time last weekend
and needed a top 3 finish to
hold on to Runners Up Pro
Champion of Thailand. Ben put
himself on the front row in P2
on the qualifying stages to give
himself the best chances in the
12 lap race, each lap being over
4.5km long. Once the flag
dropped Ben sat in 2nd place
chasing the championship
leader who was riding a factory
supported Yamaha R6. Ben
tried everything to take him but
he proved too strong, but Ben
held on to 2nd place to become
Thailand SS1 Supersport
Runner Up. The Devil MV
Agusta Racing team were
delighted with the great season
and consistent podiums Ben
had built up through the season
to put the European made MV
Agusta in this prestigious
position. Ben remarked after
the race that he has enjoyed
the whole season riding this
great bike and hopes to carry
on next season and go one
better and win the title. Ben
also remarked “we are so lucky
to have such a superb circuit
built here in Thailand which is
equal if not better than most
international tracks around the
world. Next March 2015 this Circuit
will be hosting a round of the world
superbikes and I will be working hard
with MV Agusta to try to secure a
wild card entry for this race. I would
like to thank MV Agusta Devil
Evolution CEA Projects and all
others who supported me
throughout the 2014 season.”
