Introduction
Dear Cycling Supporter,
THE 2008 SEASON
presents the opportunity for Team Aviawest Cycling Team to
continue to ride a trend of excellence in racing, a positive impact on the local community, and
an effective return on investment for key supporters. Within the world of competition, youth
cycling development is gaining importance serving as a springboard for many aspiring
professional cyclists. Our cycling team has both benefited and contributed to this growth and
during the past year our racers yielded impressive results for the season. These include
Canadian National Champion (Male Junior MTB), BC Provincial Road Champ (Male Junior), Silver
medal (CAN MTB NATS, Female Junior), and Bronze Medal (CAN Road NATS, Male Junior).
Team Aviawest needs your support to fulfill its commitment to developing young athletes.
Funds raised in support of Team Aviawest will be used primarily in support of our elite team of
young racers and to support our development team of young riders, to offset the cost of team
cycling clothing, specialized cycling equipment and expenses to travel to competitions.
Support will also be given to enthusiastic young athletes who may not have the financial means
to participate otherwise (equipment, travel, entry fees etc.).
Many of our young riders have been involved in various junior Canadian National Team Projects
and have had the opportunity to compete on a global platform. The upcoming season looks
promising as we return three of four riders that went to nationals and are gaining several riders
that are in the Elite Category. With these riders along with those developing we will be in top
contention for both provincial and national titles.
Equalling our successes on the roads of BC and all over the country was our club becoming a
non-profit society benefiting young aspiring athletes who dream of competing in Europe and
making it to the Olympics or Tour de France.
Cycling is steadily becoming a prominent sport in Canada, and as this occurs, the Aviawest
Cycling Team is steadily becoming a force to reckon with within the Elite ranks. We appreciate
your interest in sponsorship, and welcome you to take a few minutes to look through our
sponsorship packet.

History
Our Team History
Team Aviawest is the evolution of the Aviawest Cycling Club, the
TeenSpeed Cycling Team, and Team Kappa.
Team Kappa has been the premiere woman’s cycling team in
Western Canada. It was formed in 2001 to provide opportunities
for young women making their transition from junior to senior.
The goal of the team was always to grow with the riders, providing
the support they need as their careers develop. We have
accomplished this beyond our wildest expectations with Team
Kappa riders winning World and National Championship titles and
representing Canada at the Paralympic Games, Road and Mountain
Bike World Championships.
TeenSpeed is a Victoria based youth cycling club formed in 2000
that trains and competes year-round in Road Racing, Track Racing
and Mountain Biking. TeenSpeed riders have consistently been the
top finishers in all levels of racing in BC and in Canada. Many of
them have competed as members of the Canadian National Team
and BC Provincial Team at international junior races, Western
Canada and Canada Games. Some of TeenSpeed’s top riders are
finishing their teen years and are now racing at much higher levels
of competition.
The Aviawest Cycling Club is a club of 30 masters cycling and fitness enthusiasts eager to support and foster the development of
young riders and racers. They are “network hubs” in our community and great supporters of the team as community leaders &
professionals, former provincial, national team and world champion athletes, and active masters’ athletes.
TeenSpeed and Team Kappa were both formed by Steve Lund, a former Canadian National Team Coach who saw a major deficiency in
support and quality coaching for young and developing riders. It was Steve’s passion and commitment to helping young riders that saw
these programs excel and attract the support of some of Victoria’s top cycling minds. With a much broader management team and
many club level volunteers now in place, our goal is to continue to build the program and develop a top level team to support the
team’s many talented young riders pursue their goals of racing the highest level of the sport.

Exposure
Sponsoring a cycling team is a unique yet cost effective way to advertise your business.
Consider approximately 60 riders wearing the clothing whenever on the bike year-round. In most cases, riders will be training in groups of 15 to
20, providing a great visual impact of group of matching riders.
Add exposure of wearing clothing on podium and winning races!!
Add media exposure for media, Newspaper, TV, Radio
Consider the math:
•Riding 150 – 200 days / year…..3-4 hours per day, equals a maximum of approx. 292,000 hours of exposure
•To estimate from 20 Cycling Events for the 2007 Calendar, each attracting approximately 3000+ spectators per event
=
60,000+ spectators who will see your logo and familiarize themselves with your brand.
•Ongoing exposure from wearing clothing.
High quality material means clothing will be worn for many years.
Compare our cost of that kind of exposure to traditional advertising channels such as print, radio,
and TV.
We can provide added value market your product by distributing brochures or pamphlets at races and events as well as providing you the
opportunity to have prime positioning for our website and to have signage on display for our hosted cycling event in Summer 2007.
www.aviawest-rmb.com
Winning
The most effective way that we can give our sponsors exposure is to win races. This will put the rider,
team, and sponsor in the limelight and create a high dollar equivalent in advertising. Winning races
ensures coverage by media attending these events, whether it is an article in the newspaper or an
interview on television. Sponsor logos will be highly visible during these moments.
