Vision Sikeston Leadership Project Pave the Way
Vision Sikeston is designed to motivate a diverse
group of young professional leaders in the community. Each year, Vision Sikeston Leadership participants select a community impact project for community betterment and development. This year
Vision Sikeston is teaming up with SEMO Challenger Baseball, a non-profit 501 (C) (3) baseball league
for kids and adults with developmental disabilities.
To help raise money for construction costs of their
new field at the Sikeston Sports Complex, the group
will be conducting a brick engraving campaign toward the overall goal. Vision Sikeston invites your to
help Pave the Way to SEMO Challenger Baseball by
purchasing a brick to be affixed in the walkway of
their new field. A donation of $50 or more entitles
you to have your name engraved on a brick as a
lasting record of your valued support for our community. For more information please see the flyer
attached or call 471-2498.

The Sikeston Jaycees have joined forces with local organizations and
merchants to make Rodeo Week 2015 even more fun and exciting.
In addition to outstanding rodeo talent and music, new events and
activities for both residents and visitors are planned. Community
members were invited to show their Rodeo Spirit, and win prizes, by
participating in the Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo Spirit Contest. Participants designed a Rodeo-themed display for their business or yard
and entered one of two award categories: Business/Commercial or
Residential. Two prizes will be awarded in each category: Best Rodeo Display and The People’s Choice Award. Check out who had the
most Rodeo Spirit on the Jaycee’s and City of Sikeston’s Facebook
Pages. For more information on the Schedule of events contact the
Sikeston Convention & Visitors Bureau at 471-2512.
Cowboy Up! Festival is Saturday, August 8th from 10:00 am to 3:00
pm Downtown Sikeston. Festival and Museum entry is free! There will
be Live Western Music, Free Children’s Activities, Photos with Rodeo
Clowns & Royalty, Pony Rides, Stage Coach Rides, Food, Crafts, and
Art Vendors. Come down and join in on all of the fun! Call 481-9967
for more information.
HUGE THANKS go out to First State Bank & Trust, who went out of their way to contribute to
the recent IRT Training in Sikeston, Malden, and Dexter. IRT Training was done in conjunction
with the Delta Regional Authority and US Military to serve the healthcare needs of uninsured
or underinsured residents of our area. FSBT fed the staff and personnel conducting the training over 3 days. Early estimates suggest over 1,400 Sikeston-area residents received care
during the week long operation. In addition, an approximate $250,000 local economic impact
was invested in our community. Outstanding job to the IRT and FSBT teams for their Sikeston
support!

Sikeston Department of Public Safety Shoutout!
We’d like to thank the Sikeston Department of Public Safety for their continued watch over our
community and all that they do each day to keep us safe. Many of you may not be aware, but
merchants all over town find cards wedged in between their door frames when they reach to
unlock the doors to their business. Cards are left there by Sikeston Department of Public Safety
Officers who have stopped by to check on the property, letting the owners, and shop managers
that everything appeared to be in order the night before. They deserve a huge pat on the back for
making residents, businesses, and property owners feel secure.

CHAMBER MEMBER OPPORTUNITIES
Chamber Member Opportunity
Cowboy Up! Festival will be held Saturday, August 8th from 10am-3pm immediately following the JC
Rodeo Parade. Typically, the festival brings in crowds of 800-1000 people. To capitalize on that traffic,
the Chamber is hosting a Visitor Hospitality tent in downtown Sikeston. SRC plans to distribute bags
filled with information and goodies about our member businesses, products, and services. As a benefit
to our members, we want to get YOUR information in front of new customers and potential clients.
Possible items include: pens/pencils, coupons, flyers, brochures, merchandise goodies, discount cards,
business cards, calendars, promotional items, etc. Let’s let our Rodeo visitors know more of what our
community offers throughout the year and give them many, many reasons to come back! If you are
interested in adding your company “swag” to the bag, contact the SRC office 471-2498; but HURRY!
deadline for any item submission is Wednesday, August 5th.
chamber activites
get involved
The July luncheon at First Baptist Church the Sikeston Regional Chamber featured Trey Hardy, deputy director of Scott
County Emergency Management Agency and Chief Drew Juden, Sikeston Department of Public Safety & Emergency Lieutenant. We all like to think “that will never happen to us” but in an event that something does happen to your business it
is better to be proactive than reactive. Hardy gave attendees tips and resources to help businesses develop a plan in case
of an emergency. We also had Beth Johnson from Mitchell Insurance on hand to answer any questions guests had on insurance in emergency situations. The Sikeston Regional Chamber offers many opportunities for professional development
and growth for our chamber members, are you aware of the many ways you can take advantage of those opportunities?
PAVE THE WAY
TO THE
SEMO CHALLENGER BASEBALL FIELD
Pave the Way is a Vision Sikeston Leadership campaign to help raise money for the construction of a
field for SEMO Challenger Baseball, a non-profit 501 (C) (3) baseball league for kids and adults with
developmental disabilities from ages 5 on up.
The $400,000 project will feature a specially designed artificial turf service, friendly to wheelchairs.
The field, dugouts and baselines will all be fully accessible to the players without any obstacles
or limitations.
We want you to become a permanent part of the SEMO Challenger Baseball organization
through Pave the Way. A $50 brick purchase entitles you to an engraved brick that will be
permanently affixed in the common areas of the field.
Vision Sikeston Leadership develops a project each year to promote community betterment, this year
they teamed with SEMO Challenger Baseball. We appreciate your consideration.
