AUTOMINING 2010 Organiser
Gecamin
Gecamin is a private, Chilean company created in 1998 that
annually organises international technical events for the
mining industry with the aim of informing and inspiring mining
professionals, fostering the exchange of information and sharing
best practices and new technologies.
Gecamin organises seminars in partnership with institutions
of strong technical excellence in mining such as Universidad de
Chile, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad de
Concepción, Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, The
University of Western Australia and The University of Queensland,
among others.
In 12 years of operation, more than 12,000 professionals have
attended our events and have been trained in areas of paramount
importance to the mining industry. These areas include the
following: Geology, Mining Unit Operations, Mine Planning, Mineral
Processing, Hydrometallurgy, Paste and Thickened Tailings, Mine
and Plant Maintenance, Automation and Control, Water and Energy
Management in Mining, Mine Closure and Environmental and Social
Impacts Assessment.
Each event organised by Gecamin features a great diversity of
technical papers that present case studies, theoretical research
and scientific findings. Every conference is documented by the
proceedings which contain carefully-selected, peer-reviewed
papers. Prominent industry experts and academics bring their
knowledge and experience to our events, ensuring the high
standards of the proceedings and the technical programmes.
Learn more about our events by visiting www.gecamin.cl
We are iso 9001: 2008 certified.
Welcome from the Chairman
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2nd International Congress
on Automation in the Mining Industry, automining 2010 held in
Santiago and organised by gecamin.
This congress is a special opportunity for specialists, academics,
students and companies that work in automation, to discuss the
actual tendencies and future tecnologies applied in the mining
industry, as well as to exchange experiences of successful
applications and share innovative projects and case studies.
Without a doubt today's mining industry needs automation
technologies in order to increase production, reduce costs,
decrease workers' exposure to risks, improve the quality of life and
protect the environment. This great task that the world of mining
presents is not a minor one. We need to be ready to plan, develop
and effectively incorporate new automation technologies that will
make mining sustainable in the future.
This forum offers the possibility to broaden our knowledge and
be able to face the challenges of the future in automation in the
mining industry, which surely will be more successful if those of us
involved share our visions and learn together.
Enjoy the Congress!
