”You, sisters, have been the heroes
in your communities and you are to
be commended.”
Frances S. Robinson
18th National President
National President’s Message
Sisters,
It has been my profound honor and
privilege to have served as your 18th
National President, as we move Las
Amigas forward and experience new
challenges.
I have admired the
dedication of our past national presidents
and can relate to their strives for
excellence. I stand proud in representing
this progressive women’s service
organization that is rich in history for
caring and sharing.
I can hardly express to you the
magnificent experience of my two years
as President; visiting other chapters
during celebrations, attending regional
meetings and representing you at
conferences with partner organizations
and telling our story. Your hospitality has
been superb, the sisterly love exhibited,
outstanding, and my love for you
priceless. Las Amigas is so dear to me
and I hope to you, we must keep the
legacy alive…reaching out to others with
the same kind of amazing grace and
mercy. Our late founders would be so
proud!
We can all relate to financial encounters
and losses during these unsettling times,
but on behalf of our leadership team,
may I thank you for your sacrifice and
commitment. As sisters, we don’t always
agree, we debate, find common ground
and move forward, that’s what
sisterhood is about.
This is our
responsibility for what we are entrusted
to do. This means as sisters we work
together, not alone, as one cohesive unit.
We must embrace the changes of our
sisterhood
through
the
digital,
technological and social networking age
and the new generation of sisters. We
must respect the new energy and
expertise. You have proven that you can
handle any situation. You, sisters, have
been the heroes in your communities and
you are to be commended. So, let’s
continue to work together in the name of
Las Amigas to build and improve the
underserved.
Remember, if you tell the story proudly,
they will listen and come. Share the
stories of kindness and diversities and this
will enable us to grow. See you at
Conclave.
With Sisterly Love,
Frances S. Robinson

National Vice President’s Message
My dear sisters:
another they will become interested in joining us.
Another year has passed and we are once again
meeting to tend to the business of Las Amigas,
Incorporated as well as enjoy one another's company
through fellowship. Of course, the Las Amigas,
Incorporated business is the most important entity of
our coming together once a year. On February 5,
1957, our founders Mary Q. Moore and Dora R.
Mason joined forces to create a network of
professional women in order to enhance, enrich and
to improve the lives of all citizens from all
communities and walks of life.
With total commitment while sharing our vision to
recruit, develop and maintain our membership of
sisters sharing the same values of integrity, respect,
honesty, good citizenship we will continue to fulfill
our mission through teamwork and loyalty thereby
increasing our membership allowing us to expand our
service to those in need. I come to you sisters humbly
thanking you for having the trust and belief in my
ability to serve you as your National Vice President. I
will continue to serve you with loyalty and yes total
commitment of love and sisterhood willing to serve
and assist in the growth of my love assisting those in
need by spreading the great news of Our sisterhood
"LAS AMIGAS, INCORPORATED".
We welcome all new members with open arms and
love. Even though over the past year we have lost
sisters through illness and death we will truly miss
their presence, however, they will continue to be
present spiritually. And with the same intentions of
our founders and those whose shoulders we have
stood on we are obligated to continue building our
organization. As we continue to spread our vision of
enhancing the quality of life in promoting the general
improvements within our communities and
encourage professional and personal growth, we
must foster a genuine, honest close relationship
among our sisterhood first. We are obligated to
provide strong, wide supportive shoulders in support
of another as others notice our commitment to one
2
I challenge each and every sister to bring one
perspective sister into our organization by sharing our
story. We now have four regions, 22 chapters,
members of Las Amigas, Incorporated lets increase
our sisterhood by sharing the secret of our success by
2014.
I am as always sisterly yours,

The chapter theme “SISTERS WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OUR

has been accomplished during this

and economic growth. Members

hosted by the Women’s Action Coalition in the home of the WAC President, Dr. Augustine Pounds. The
guest speaker was the State’s Attorney, Prince George’s County, Angela

Ms Harris was honored for 46 years of government service on 28 March 2013 at the
Fort Eustis Officers Club, Newport News, Virginia by representatives from the government, Las Amigas Incorporated, family and friends. Through pictorial speeches, she
was recognized for her dedication to duty, sincerity, grace, compassion, and work ethics in pursuing her career as a training facilitator for the United States Government.
Humorous remarks pertaining to her classy and immaculate attire (doesn’t own a pair
of jeans), never raising her voice out of anger, polishing her nails, historical events ,
age, etc.
Awards presented to Ms. Harris included a thank you letter from President Barack
Obama; the United States flag flown over the Capital Building for the honoree, Commander’s Award for exceptional service, plaque for distinguish service, citations from other service agencies, gift
