GFS’ AdvanceCure system greatly reduces the amount of time needed to cure or dry any type of coating, be it waterborne or solvent-based. In order to achieve the fastest drying times possible, air must be disrupted and dispersed. This disruption is accomplished by creating turbulent airflow on the surface of the vehicle, which is what AdvanceCure does. It breaks up the slow-moving boundary air and rapidly speeds up the drying process. AdvanceCure interacts with the downdraft airflow in order to produce controlled turbulent airflow on all the surfaces of the vehicle. This effectively turns the paint booth in to a convection oven, and drastically reduces drying times. Features: • Complete vehicle coverage on horizontal and vertical surfaces • Standard and retrofit systems to fit any make and model of paint booth • Effective with all waterborne and solvent-based paint products • Independently adjustable, aluminum alloy nozzles • Integrated or remote blowers • 1-hp motor with intake filter • 3-tube light available on corner mounted unit only • Unique control system: - Available in 4, 6 and 8-unit control systems 4-unit shown The most popular way to create turbulent airflow and can be placed virtually in any spray booth, including inside prep stations. Features and specifications are subject to change without notice. GLOBAL FINISHING SOLUTIONS CONSTRUCTION SOLID, LONG-LASTING CONSTRUCTION A paint booth is only as good as the materials used to create it. As leader in the industry, GFS is constantly on the cutting edge of refinish coating technology. Ultra Auto Truck Pro Wall Panel Design Designed to reduce the total number of joints and seams in the booth, vertical wall panels create a stronger and longer-lasting cabin. Fewer seams also mean smoother walls, which are less likely to collect dirt and are easier to clean. PVC Protection White Finish Coat Primer Pre-Treatment G-40 Galvanizing For superior long life and durability, wall panels are produced using rust-resistant G-40 galvanized sheet steel that is primed and coated on both sides with a baked-on polyester topcoat. Panels also have removable PVC protective plastic sheeting, designed to protect panels while booth is being erected. The industry standard is a non-galvanized, cold-rolled steel panel that is painted white. Steel Dual-Skin Panels GFS' pre-coated, dual-skin insulated panels provide a smooth fit and finish with no exposed wires or cables. Insulated panels cut down on noise and reduce ambient heat outside of the booth, while keeping heated air inside the cabin. H-Channel Construction The unique H-Channel construction allows for easy booth setup. 6" galvanized steel H-Channel columns connect to booth wall panels without nuts and bolts. Panels come together with a virtually airtight seal. This leak-proof seal reduces the potential for contamination, resulting in a cleaner booth and reduced maintenance. Single-Skin Panels Single-skin panels utilize laminate steel design for superior structural rigidity. Vertical and horizontal C-channel stiffeners combined with nut-and-bolt construction provide unmatched strength. Panels have exterior flanges that provide a smooth interior surface. Optional I-beam construction is available. Pre-Coated White Panels Standard Galvanized Panels CODE COMPLIANCE A crucial part of the purchasing and installation process of a spray booth is ensuring that your installation meets all of the safety and legal requirements that apply to your city, state and country. GFS makes sure that our products meet and/or exceed all the applicable codes related to the equipment. These include: • International Building Code (IBC) • International Fire Code (IFC) • National Emissions Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) Subpart HHHHHH • NFPA 33: Standard for Spray Application using Flammable or Combustible Materials • NFPA 70: National Electrical Code • NFPA 86: Standard for Ovens and Furnaces • NFPA 91: Standard for Exhaust Systems for Air Conveying of Materials • NFPA 101: Life Safety Code • OSHA Safety and Health Standards (29 CFR 1910.107) GFS staff regularly follows and contributes to the advancement of these standards. Currently, one of our engineers serves on the NFPA Technical Committee on Finishing Processes. Features and specifications are subject to change without notice. 17 GLOBAL FINISHING SOLUTIONS AIRFLOW OPTIONS The airstream moving through the booth gathers the solids and transports them to the filtration medium. The force and direction of the air, the efficiency of the filtration, and the characteristics of the coating equipment determine not only the overall efficiency of the coating operation, but also the quality of the finish. GFS offers four airflow systems, illustrated below. The Semi-Downdraft airflow system is a special order, please contact GFS for ordering details. Semi-Downdraft Downdraft High-Performance Paint Booth Generally accepted as the best airflow style, downdraft booths do an excellent job of controlling overspray and contamination. Air flows vertically from the ceiling intake plenum at the top of the booth, over the vehicle, and into the filtered exhaust pit in the floor. Economical Paint Environment The semi-downdraft booth is a hybrid, combining features of both crossdraft and downdraft booths. Air is introduced to the booth through the ceiling in the first 25-30% of the booth. Then it's pulled across the working chamber, over the vehicle and into the filtered exhaust chamber at the booth rear. Semi-Downdraft airflow systems are special order, contact GFS for details. Single-Row Pit Standard Two-Row Pit Upgrade Three-Row Pit Upgrade Side Downdraft Crossdraft Downdraft airflow with no pit! Side downdraft booths are an economical solution for shops that can't afford or aren't able to install a pit. Air enters the booth through a full-length ceiling plenum, and flows downward over the vehicle. Proven airflow design When air reaches the floor, it is pulled into floor-level filtered exhaust plenums on each side of the booth. The simplest configuration, crossdraft booths use an exhaust fan to pull air in at one end of the booth. Air may pass through a filtered door, enter the working chamber unfiltered, or be pushed through a pressurized input plenum. Air flows parallel to the floor, across the vehicle and into a filter bank at the booth rear. Variable Speed Unit The air replacement unit is designed with a variable speed drive/motor and damper package to discharge either 140°F or 160°F air for accelerated curing cycle. This design reduces airflow by 50% during the curing mode. This system always uses outside air during the cure mode to ensure good clean air for the cure cycle. Also included is an auto-balance system with a variable frequency drive to automatically adjust the airflow of the exhaust fan(s), to ensure proper booth balance during painting and curing modes. Recirculating Airflow 20% 80% During the cure cycle, once the air has passed through the working chamber, 20% of the air 20% is pulled through filters and back to the air replacement unit. There it is combined with 20% fresh air, reheated and returned to the working chamber. The 20% air not returned to the air replacement unit is filtered and exhausted directly into the atmosphere through ducting. Automatic sensors and pressure monitors continually adjust to maintain the most consistent working environment, the most efficient operation and lowest operating costs. The value of a recirculating system lies in the preservation of resources: the working air is used over before its heat is lost. Force-Dry Airflow 18 Recirculating Feature (optional) Force-Dry Feature (optional) An economical approach to paint curing is to reduce airflow 50% during the curing mode, referred to as Force-Dry. This system always uses outside air during the cure mode to ensure good clean air for the cure cycle. This system also includes an auto balance system with a variable frequency drive (VFD) to automatically adjust the airflow of the exhaust fans to ensure proper booth balance. Features and specifications are subject to change without notice. GLOBAL FINISHING SOLUTIONS FAQS Q.What should I expect from a new spray booth? A. Filtration: Quality finishes require clean contaminate-free air. This is accomplished by proper air filtration. Prior to air entering the booth, GFS uses pre-filters to capture large particles and debris, and high-efficiency intake filters to filter out any remaining dirt and dust particles. The air is filtered again before it is recirculated or exhausted from the booth. Airflow: Proper airflow in the booth is accomplished by creating a flow of air that envelops the vehicle during booth operation. This airflow, referred to as laminar airflow, is responsible for carrying away paint overspray during the refinish process, and air movement during paint curing. Lighting: Another key element is bright, shadow-free lighting throughout the booth. GFS utilizes T-8, color-corrected light fixtures, in the proper quantity and correct location. This creates an environment that allows for proper color match and paint flow identification. Q.What is a pressurized paint booth, and what are the benefits of pressuring a booth? A. The term pressurized refers to the amount of air inside the booth vs. the amount of air outside the booth. When properly balanced, the booth should be slightly positive, meaning that the amount of air flowing into the booth is slightly greater than the amount of air that is allowed to leave. The advantage is that positive pressure keeps unwanted dirt and debris from entering the booth. Any leaks in the seals or joints are going out, not in, thus providing a cleaner paint environment. Q.What is temperature rise? And why is it important? A. Temperature rise is the discharge air temperature from the unit, above the ambient outside air temperature. For example, if a facility is located in an area where the winter low temperature is -10° F and the desired booth temperature is 70° F, a unit with a 90° rise would provide 80° process air with -10° F outside air. The temperature rise is a very important factor when selecting an air replacement unit. If you receive a quote that does not show a temperature rise on the air replacement unit, encourage your supplier to provide that information to you. Q.What does GFS recommend for a cure temperature? A. When selecting an air replacement unit, it is recommended that you attain the proper information to ensure the air replacement unit can reach the desired curing temperature. GFS also suggests contacting your paint distributor for the recommended cure temperature for the paint you use. Q.How long does it take for delivery after you order the spray booth? A. Once the payment method is accepted, it normally takes between 7-10 weeks for you to receive your spray booth. All GFS booths are made to order. Your booth will be built specifically to your specifications. Q.What if a standard booth needs modifications? A. GFS understands that there will be instances where shop layout, vehicle size and other factors may require a spray booth to be custom engineered. In these situations, GFS' staff of engineers and drafters will utilize modeling software to create a parametric product model of the custom engineered booth. These programs also allow GFS to check fit, finish and function from a digital prototype. Bridge Plenum Height - The height of the booth is determined by the overall height of the largest object plus two feet clearance. Ample room should be allowed for the finisher to spray the top and bottom of the object. Depth - Working depth should be sufficient for the object to be within the enclosure plus 3 feet clearance at the rear (from the filters). Height Width - To determine the necessary width, measure the width of the largest object to be painted and add 5 feet to allow for access to the sides of the object.
