From Kimberly
Well, we finally got some rain
this week!
Rain… clouds… long hours in
the studio or kitchen… they all seem
to go together.
For those of you doing Holiday
Market; now is a good time to crank
up your production and decide if you
are going to introduce new products.
Our final product screening this year
will be November 4th.
There are still eight Saturday
Market Park Blocks days this year
after today; plenty of time to work
on displays, assess your product selection and continue to build your
customer base.
Have an awesome day!
Kimberly
Holiday Market Postcards
We now have plenty of Holiday
Market postcards for you to distribute to your customers. There’s room
on the back for addresses if you want
to mail them, or your own specific
booth information. Some folks even
include a “percentage off with this
card” message. Pick some up at the
Info Booth today or the office during the week. Extra perfect if you’re
doing various fall art festivals out of
town!!
Holiday Market Update
Booking: Vi continues the Holiday Market booking process and
is working with members with 5
points. It’s not too late to submit a
Holiday Market application if you
haven’t yet, there are still spaces
available!
Work Tasks: work task sign up
sheets are now available on the table
next to the Info Booth. Sign up for a
work task, and complete it to get the
$25 refund. You can have another
Market member complete your task
for you if you wish, but the sign up
must be under your name.
Committee Corner
The Standards Committee met
last Wednesday. They crafted a revised scent guideline and sound
guideline that they are sending to
the Board for approval. They are also
sending a recommendation that pipe
sales be allowed at Market. They
decided to leave the Intra-Market
transaction guidelines stand as they
are. Their next meeting will be October 14 at 5 PM.
Manager Evaluations
The Personnel Committee is
offering you a chance to evaluate
the performance of General Manager Kimberly Cullen and Promotions Manager Kim Still. Evaluation forms are available at the Info
Booth. Please seal your forms in the
provided envelope marked “confidential.” You can drop the forms off
at the Info Booth or send them to
the Office, where they will be placed
in a locked box and given to the Personnel Committee for review. The
deadline for these forms to be turned
in is Sept. 26.
Holiday Market Elves!
The Holiday Market Opening
Weekend special promotion this year
will be an “I Spy Elves” game to get
folks circulating all through the Market. We are hoping that more than
several of you will be willing to create
an elf of some kind using your fantastic artistic powers. Or maybe you’re
already working on it! You will be
displaying this elf in your booth on
opening weekend, Nov. 21-22, and
then donating it for “adoption” by
one of the lucky winners.
We will make a fun card/entry
form with “elf selfie” pictures of each
of the elves. Customers will have to
write down the booth number of
where they saw each elf to enter.
We will put a minimum number
to find in order to have a chance
to win one of these elf shaped
works of art. We will also offer
a good grand prize drawing for
those who locate all the elves.
If you are planning on
making an elf, please let Kim
Still know. She’ll be wanting
to get a photo in advance for
promo purposes. Write it on
your envelope, tell her in person, or drop a line to kimstill
@eugenesaturdaymarket.org.
Thanks!!
Coming in October...
We have set the date for our annual Market Wide Sale to take place
on October 24. This is a day with
no Duck game at all. It’s a voluntary
sale day, but we do some extra promotions to get folks to the Market.
Halloween also takes place on
a Saturday this year! The downtown merchants have several family
friendly events planned for the day,
including a trick-or-treat route for
kids in the afternoon that we’ll be
included on. We’ll also have some
kind of fun member costume contest, so start working on those outfits! More details coming as the day
approaches.
Market Street Team
The Market Street Team be
meeting again in October (date
TBA). Our intention for this group
is to look at Market’s image and ways
to improve community perception;
encourage YOU to volunteer to do
guerrilla market, and field ideas on
how to promote our Saturday Market. Currently we are exploring the
possibility of making a souvenir
Market guide/booklet for next season that would include individual
booth ads. If you are interested in
our work, please join us! Look for
the meeting date in the next Newsletter.
