IT IS WHAT IT IS
Less than a month since the Shirley Sherrod incident, here we go again reacting to
another racial incident in the spotlight. The N-word, a word supposedly buried a few
years ago is back in the spotlight with a vengeance. I guess Dr. Laura didn’t get the
memo of its death since she boldly used the word on her radio show a record eleven
times. She made the point that rappers and comedians use the N-word and thus
supposedly gave her the “right” and the comfort level to use the word several times with
ease.
There are those in the African American community that want to gain power over the Nword and redefine it as a term of endearment. REALLY! If that’s the case, then the word
then becomes open game to be used across racial lines. So when a white person says to
a black person “What’s up my N-----?” No harm, no foul - RIGHT? Sorry, I’m not feeling it
by any means.
While I can understand the efforts of trying to turn a negative into a positive, I believe
that there is TOO much pain, blood and history tied to the “N” word to ever be
considered acceptable for use by anyone.
I challenge anyone to tell me how the “N” word has empowered any person of COLOR anywhere from the classroom to the
boardroom. It seems as though the only person empowered by this latest incident is Dr. Laura, who while walking away from
her radio show, made it clear that she is not quitting or retiring and stated that her intent is to be “stronger and freer to say the
things that I believe need to be said for people in this country."
As a person of color, I find no power or endearment in the word. The “N” word will only continue to stigmatize all African
Americans, not only in the media and justice system but society as a whole.
The dictionary is full of original words of power and endearment. Pick one. How about love?

SELF-HELP TIPS
Five Steps to Success
1. Learn to love yourself and commit yourself to being all you can
be. Become good at knowing yourself.
2. Decide exactly what it is you want in life; set it as one of your
goals and decide on the price you are willing to pay to get it.
Remember: nothing worthwhile ever comes without some
sacrifice.
3. Back up each of your goals and plans with persistence,
determination, and will power. Remember: it‟s not how many
times you get knocked down; it‟s how many times you get back
up.
4. Commit yourself to lifelong learning. Read, listen and
remember: there are lessons and blessings in everything that
happens to you.
5. Use your time wisely. Make sure that you are not wasting time.
Remember life is a one-way ticket and once you get to the end of
the trip, it no coming back.

How to find the key to success!
To be successful, you must find peace of mind and acquire the
material needs of life and attain happiness. Success begins in the
form of thoughts. So you can and must control your own thoughts.
In so doing, you can eventually learn to influence, direct and
eventually control your own environment. Therefore, making your
life what you want it to be. But to do this, you must think positive.
The bible says in Ephesians 4:23 “be renewed in the spirit of your
mind.” There„s also another key scripture from the Bible that
describes this process: “Be ye transformed by the renewing of your
mind.”
You can change your life simply by changing the way you think.
You can think your way to what and where you want to be. So,
don‟t let anyone tell you that just because you‟re riding the bus
today, you can‟t be driving a Mercedes tomorrow. If I did it so can
you!
The Bible says: “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he…” You
have to think it in your mind and believe it in your heart, and then
you‟re on your way to finding the key to success.
Extra Tip
Five Things you should know about money
1. Save money from every paycheck. Unlike foods, money does
not spoil…it keeps.
2. Build a good relationship at a bank, finance company, or
somebody you can borrow from.
3. Never take a chance with all your money. Never borrow
anything that, if forced, you cannot pay back.
4. Don’t mistreat someone who has less than you (because that‟s
where the money is). If you stick with the average, hard-working
person and give them your devotion, they‟ll make you rich.
5. To make money, find a need and fill it. All successful
businesses are founded on needs of people. Once you get money or
a reputation for having money, people will give you money and
deals. Remember: Money talks—the man with cash gets the best
deals!
So the first step in finding the key to success starts within. We are
all born with three things in common: we have a BODY, a SOUL
and a SPIRIT. We are all spiritual beings. We live inside a
physical body and we have a soul.
The Soul has five parts they are:
1. Your Mind
2. Your Will
3. Your Imagination
4. Your Emotions
5. Your Intellect.
I hope this will help you see the brighter side of tomorrow.
REMEMBER: let the pains of this life become the stairs of your
new beginning; always accept the best from people and walk away
from the mess, then you‟ll stand the test… making the ending a
new beginning.
The more the mind does, the more it can do. You have to feed it
the right things.
You must take care of your body. You must develop your mind.
You must develop your will power, and continuously work at
strengthening it. You must control your emotions. You must
enhance your intellect. If you‟re not satisfied with the way things
are going for you, then reorganize your thinking. His will give you
clues to the situation that‟s holding you down. It may be you or
somebody in your life that‟s holding you back.

WCLM Radio cancels Norfolk Radio deal….
The Atlanta-based T.I., 29, whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr.,
and Cottle, a 36-year-old singer who sang with the 1990s group
Xscape and has recently been the star of the BET reality series
"The Tiny & Toya Show," were booked at the West Hollywood
sheriff's station. Bail was set at $10,000 each.
Preston Brown says he canceled deal with WRJR 670am in
Norfolk because Tony Burrows aka Tony Boaz can’t be trusted.
He is the biggest liar I have ever met and I know some people that
can lie. Tony make a deal with me, then turn around and make a
deal with Jack Gravely of WLEE 990am selling him time that he
sold to me. Then he found Rev. Bentley in Northern Virginia and
sold him time doing the time he sold to Jack Gravely and also
promise to put him on 15 other radio stations. He found some
Jamaican to buy 3 days of programming that he sold to me.
T.I.'s publicist declined to comment.
T.I., the multiplatinum hitmaker who has a key role in the current
top box office movie "Takers," served seven months in an
Arkansas federal prison and three months in a Georgia halfway
house on federal weapons charges and was released in March. He
is on three years' probation.
We did broadcast in Norfolk a couple of weeks but every time we
had a talk show that talked about black issues he would switch us
off and put something else on. I final called and talk to Mr. Henry
Hoot of Chesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting company who
leased the station to Tony Burrows and Tony had lied to him to.
Mr. Hoot took the station back from Tony immediately and now
Tony was last seen in North Carolina at a another station telling
lies! The police have not been able to issue a warrant because a
physical address is needed. He been calling from 252-548-1687
And his last e-mail address is [email protected]
Since that case, T.I., who had spent time behind bars for drug
offenses before, vowed to live a better life. He spoke to kids about
the dangers of drugs and guns, and former United Nations
Ambassador Andrew Young was one of his supporters. As he
prepared for his most recent sentence, he starred in the MTV
reality show "T.I.'s Road to Redemption: 45 Days to Go."
The father of five married Cottle in late July. "Takers," a shoot 'em
up about an armored truck robbery that goes bad, was released last
week and topped the box-office chart.
In a recent interview with The Associated Press, T.I. talked about
living a more positive life.
"Right now, it's all about moving forward and just acknowledging
the blessing that are here today. ... Just moving past the regrets of
yesterday — the things that could've been done better," T.I. said in
a July interview.
T.I., who is known as the "King of the South," has emerged one of
music's most profitable stars over the last few years. He is working
on a new album, "King Uncaged," which may be released this
year.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Grammy-winning rapper T.I., who is still
on probation after spending time behind bars on gun charges, was
arrested, along with his wife, on drug charges after police smelled
alleged marijuana coming from their car, authorities said.
The arrests for possession of a controlled substance occurred in
West Hollywood during a traffic stop, Los Angeles sheriff's deputy
Mark Pope told The Associated Press.
"Deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the
vehicle," the department said. "A narcotics investigation ensued"
that resulted in the arrests.
The department's media office said it didn't yet have details on
which specific drug the possession charge concerned.
The arrests reflect that of socialite Paris Hilton, whose is being
investigated for felony cocaine possession after a motorcycle
officer smelled pot wafting from her car.

I throught you like to know !
“The Professor Radio Show” (Thursday 3pm & 8:30pm)
Preston Brown may run for office!
My life experiences over a period of 30 years have provided a
significant part of my education. These experiences includes travel,
starting and maintaining several businesses, entertaining, and
exposure to many cultures.
I am an energetic, hardworking, no non-sense Richmond
Businessman. My success have come through hardwork and trial
and error. My practical experience have helped me develpo a good
work ethic. I’m long on ideas, short on excuses. I accept challenges
and am undaunted by perceived obstacles.
As a results oriented person, my ability to zero in on a problem is
acute. I donot mill over a matter for weeks, study it to death and
then offer a confused opinion. I have no personal agenda, I only
seek to contribute to making the City and State that I lived in and
worked in all my life a better place.
Now I quest you want to know what office I will run for , I’m
not telling yet. If I get enough supporters who belive in me not the
office then I will run.
Politics is a nasty game, you make some people mad if you run
against certain people. If you don’t follow a certain click then they
get mad, but ask yourself what have they did or try to do for you
lately? Aren’t you tired of the way things are, are you really for a
real change?
A VOTE FOR ME, IS A VOTE FOR!!!!
Patrick Henry School of Science and Arts is Questioned?
H. Otis Brown “The Professor”
In 1988, The Commonwealth of Virginia became part of the Charter School
movement by passing charter school legislation. A Charter School is an
independent part of the public school system with its own CEO, President and
board of Directors who has the authority to implement innovative, creative
teaching alternatives with the goal of maintaining high academic standards. While
high academic standards is a great goal on its face, is it cost effective during an
economic down turn to incur such start up costs and uncertain future costs ? Will
the student and faculty population reflect Richmond’s demographic diversity?
Another query, will the student and faculty selection process be transparent and
fair? If Patrick Henry is a cost that is separate but part of the public school system
how will it educate youth to live in a society that is now integrated?
The Patrick Henry School of Science and Arts will be funded in part by the joint
co-operation of the Federal, State, City Governments and other funding sources.
Patrick Henry money trail as reported is $471, 800.00 from the U.S. Department
of Education, $200,000.00-two year loan from the North Carolina Center for
Community Self-Help.
Top Ten Lies of some Politicians
1. I will represent the voters
2. I will unite the community
3. You can count on me
4. I was just thinking about you
5. I vote the issue, not the party
6. I am busy now, but I will call you right back
7. Re-elect me, I’m the incumbent
8. Don’t vote for the other candidate, he/she is in the wrong party
9. I’m going to help the community
10. Elect me and you will be better off
There goes more tax dollars………
Monroe Park to get $6 Million makeover, with the city committing
$1.1 million toward overall project plus more later. Did you vote on
this, the storm water tax or the rate increase of city bus fares?
Let’s Think about It
Venture Richmond director Jack Berry has stated because of security
reasons (some black folk don’t know how to act at night) the Second
Street Festival will be shutting down at 8:30pm instead of the normal time
of 10pm, with the final act on stage ending at 7:30pm.
The Second Street festival is one of the oldest and largest African
American festivals on the East coast with an average attendance ranging
from 50,000 to 75,000 people. The population of attendees includes
parents with children, mature adults, and multi-cultural adults, enjoying
the heritage of this unique Richmond business district from the past. This
event was started nearly 20 years ago by Mrs. Nina Abady to celebrate the
Black heritage on the 2nd street corridor, where acts such as Nat king Cole,
Billie Holiday, James Brown and other performers played the Hippodrome
Theater before desegregation.
There are other festivals held in the city that end at 10pm or 11pm without
incidents or security risk, the “Down Home Festival” held in the
downtown area on Leigh street closed at 11pm with great fun and food
without fights or risky activity. The 2nd street festival has had only 1 or 2
problems over the past 20 years. It does not seem reasonable to restrict this
festival which has a 99% history of non violent behavior to say we do not
deserve an enjoyable festival with enough time to include working adults.
This limits the financial area for the vendors (who pay to be there) to serve
the late attendees as they enjoy the festival and the fellowship with friend,
politicians, & performers. If the time frame is a security risk, then why
hasn’t Venture Richmond restricted other festivals on the same basic?

Real Deal: by Larry Reid “Black Folk, What yall gonna do!
Young Black man, what yall gonna do? You spend your
days hanging on the corner talking, holding your privates,
and smoking a blunt. You wear your hair in braids or
picanniny plaits and with your unkempt facial hairs; you
say you look so cool. You wear your pants below your butt
cheeks and show your dirty underwear. You can’t get a job
because of your dress and appearance. You say,” I refuse
to give up my freedom of choice in dress”. So who is
supposed to hire a person that looks like a tramp?
You blame your teachers because you can’t read. The
“racist” teacher would not teach me because I am black.
Although, he taught the other Black kids that wanted to
learn. You drop out of school because you say it is not for
you. You prefer to get into trouble and hang out on the
corner. You can’t get a job because you can’t even read to
fill out the application.
Since you can’t get a job, so you get a gun and become a
robber. You will rob and steal from honest hard working
people. Maybe, you will kill someone. You are now
incarcerated. You are a lost soul, who will never see the
outside world again. Yet, if you do, you have no rights to
vote or to own a weapon. You are now a felon. A prison
record is now a badge of honor among the youth. Or you
gonna sell drugs for the man. It does not matter that you
are risking your life for someone else. It is fast, easy
money. You can now support your children and spent
lavishly on trinkets that tell the police that you are doing
something illegal. Or you are killed by your rivals or
arrested for dealing. What you gonna do? You are caught
in that same vicious circle. You can never escape from it.
The white man is so happy. Now you are no longer a threat
to him if you are locked away. So, what yall gonna do?
You have three or four children by many different women.
How can you support them? Oh, that is not your worry.
The Social Service System can take care of them. You only
make them. You are not a role model to your children. You
are not involved in rearing your own children. You don’t
really care whether they call you daddy or not. You would
prefer that they didn’t acknowledge you. It would
probably anger your new girlfriend anyway. Dogs father
litters with many different females, but God did not give
them the sense of caring. It is not your job to populate the
Black race. So, what yall gonna do?
Young Black girl, what you gonna do? You start having
babies for the no-count man, because he says, “He loves
you and for you to prove that you love him by having a
baby.” You are nothing but a child having a child. You have
no skills in taking care of a baby. As soon as you tell him
you are pregnant, he leaves you to go through it alone. He
says it is not his baby. You pawn the child off to the
grandmother who is still in the prime of her life. She wants
to be able to go out and have fun just like you. You neglect
the child. The Father neglects you and the child.
You have no job skills because you had to drop out of
school to have this kid. What you gonna do? You go on
welfare and become propaganda fodder for the white
man’s rhetoric that Black people are the reason for higher
taxes and are burdening the system. You don’t have
enough pride in yourself to want to do better. You go
shuffling with your head bowed to accept the handout
that man gives you. You accept the substandard housing
that is provided by the projects. You know that the system
will give you the crime ridden, roach infested projects
while the white girl that is in the same predicament is
given a Section 8 voucher to live in a better neighborhood.
You take part your “check” and pay for your hairdo, your
nails and your cell phone. You sell part of your “food
stamps” to buy alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes. You go out
to the “club” to shake your booty and stay out all night
and end up in the bed with someone you hardly know. You
care less about the consequences.
You do feed your children but not what is nourishing and
healthy for your child, you cater to the baby daddy or your
“man” with chops and shrimp. You feed your children
Ramen noodles. The man will lay up with you and eat your
food and party with you as long as the money last, and
then he is gone back to his corner. What yall gonna do?
What are you Black parents gonna do when your child
follows in your footsteps. You are gonna cry, “Lord, where
did I go wrong?” The first act is to hold yourself
accountable for your actions. You knew the consequence
of sex before hand and did not teach it to your child.
Young girl, you allowed some man to talk you into a dead
end street. Young man, you have no respect for the Black
girl because you only want to satisfy an urge. The damage
has been done. You can’t mark this child with “return to
sender” and go on with your lives. Young man, step up and
be a man. Since you have fathered a child, take
responsibility. Don’t deny that child his birthright of
knowing his father. Black folk, what yall gonna do?
For so long we have had our head in the sand thinking
that if we don’t see the problem, the problem does not
exist. We ignore the degradation of our race and culture.
We ignore the failing of our young Black brothers and
sisters. We are content to say, “It is not my problem.” Now
is time for us to ask the question, “What we gonna do?”
and help resolve the problem. You believe that by going to
church everything will be resolved. The churches are no
longer the answer. The minister does not teach how to live
a Christ-like life; only prosperity. He will sell you a pray
cloth or some holy oil that he says will solve your
problems. He will counsel you and end up trying to have
sex with you. He is not part of the solution, only part of the
problem.
Real Deal: by Larry Reid part 2
Black people as long as we act the fool, we will be treated
as the fool. Your forefathers struggled to gain pride in
their race. They were beaten, spat on, and treated as
second class people. Yet they survived to strive to make
this a better day. As the older generations looks out on the
younger people, they are saddened that you are letting
your racial pride be destroyed. Even though it is said that
we have achieved equality, we know that is a lie. It has
always been a fact that the Black man has to do more just
to be average. Integration taught us nothing. It just
allowed the white man a little more control. The Black boy
and girl are looked at as something less than the white boy
and girl. And they prove it. The dress of today says the
boys are tramps and the girls with their tight revealing
outfits are nothing but common whores. This limits the
jobs and quality of life that we have come to expect. It is
more fodder for the white man rhetoric.
Young people need to stay in school. You can’t drop out.
Education will open many doors. The Black community
needs to aid these potential failures by offering tutoring
and mentoring. The concept of it takes a village to raise a
child is needed now more than ever. The older members
of the community need to remember that was what got
them to where they are now. The older generation needs
to look back at how the neighborhood raised you. Every
momma was your momma. They fed you when you were
hungry just as if you were their own child. They soothed
you when you were hurt. They protected you from harm
and they chastised you were you were wrong just as your
parents would do. Now you are too important and uppity
to help the young Black boy or girl that is less fortunate
than yourself. Black people, rich or poor, educated or just
with common sense, or a leader in the community. We
need to know “What we gonna do to become the race that
we are capable of being?”
The youth need role models to assist them in getting ready
to work. The sports or entertainment figure is not what
will get you a job. The Black community must insist that
education is the first item on any agenda. We need to
financially help those that have the abilities to go on to
higher learning. We must encourage them. The churches
need to get out of the business of just saving souls. They
need to help save the future generation. We must support
Black businesses so they can offer the youth jobs. We must
teach the youth where the real world begins and fantasy
ends. We must instill Black pride in our heritage. Black
history needs to be taught by the community year round
not just by some white teacher one month a year. Black
community, what we gonna do?
The parents must take an interest in their children’s
education. Parents must attend parent-teacher
conferences. Parents must know who is failing who, the
child or the school system, and be ready to fight the power
if the system is failing. Parents must insure that their
children are doing their work. Parents should know where
the children are at all times. Don’t allow them to roam the
street at all hours of the night. After all, the police love
nothing more than to see a Black kid with a police record
so that they can’t go any further in life. You must set the
example that your children will follow. After all, if they see
you hanging in the street, they will hang in the street. If
you are using drugs, they will do the same. Parents, what
yall gonna do to ensure the future Black generation?
Finally, young people must take responsibility for
themselves. If you have dropped out of school, go back
and complete your education or at least get your GED.
Take time to read books, not the drug store rag sheet, but
real books. Listen to music other than the nonsensical Rap
music that is so vile and vulgar. Spent some time in the
theater viewing plays and not in the movies watching
some fantasy pictures. Listen to the elders of the
community. They can tell you where we have been and
how we got to where we are. Learn about your Black
history and culture. Get involved with cultural events. Get
involved in discussions that will uplift and sharpen your
mind. You are the next generation. Be prepared to take
charge and lead future generations. So, what yall gonna
do?
So we need to do something now before it is too late. We
can’t just sit on the side lines and cheer. We allow other
races to come into our culture and we gladly support
them. They take Black money by supplying wigs, hair
extensions, and fake nails. We will support a foreign race
and culture other than our own. Yet we will not support a
Black business providing the same merchandise. We will
not advertise through Black media. We are jealous of Black
men that succeed. Our favorite cop-out is “He thinks he is
better than me.”Well, he is if you think that is correct. We
just don’t get the message. Black people, what we gonna
do?
I hope yall decide to step up and do the right thing. We
have done wrong long enough. As always, I hope I have
opened your eyes and stepped on some toes to wake you
up to the real deal.

no one can cover up their SIN. Remember, when Adam and

and made themselves coverings,” but their covering was

You shall not lie down with a MALE, as with a WOMAN.
It is an ABOMINATION. Nor shall you mate with any

woman stand in position before an ANIMAL to MATE, to
be a breeding partner in SEX with it. It is PERVERSION, a

A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to or have

is feminine or womanly, the SODOMITE or
HOMOSEXUAL who is an ABUSER of himself with other
males, the LESBIAN (Womb-MAN), the FORNICATOR

ABOMINATION to the LORD God. (Please read in your

ABUSE, IS IT EVER
ACCEPTABLE? NEVER!
So many times we find ourselves caught in a web of deception
thinking that what is un-acceptable is actually acceptable. Growing up
in the city of Richmond, Virginia as a child was hard. I had to at a
young age defend myself from what we call today domestic violence
or sexual assault which is nothing but plain old “abuse”. Once I
became an adult I found myself in the same web of deception. I found
myself in a relationship with a man that expressed his love very
physical but not the pleasurable physical way you would assume but
in an aggressive and abusive physical way that in his eyes was saying
that “girl I love you look what you made me do”. He would blame my
actions whether it was not answering my phone in a timely manner,
not having what he thought was the proper clothes to wear, or just
wanting to go out and hang with my girlfriends, for him knocking me
upside my head. I would often say well maybe if I would have
answered the phone when he first called or maybe I should have
listened to him when he told me to stay in the house that night and
because he didn’t show like he said and I chose to go out with my
girlfriend I wouldn’t have provoked him to punch me in my face and
knock me to the floor. Afterward assuring me that he loved me and
didn’t like messing up my beautiful face but because I disobeyed him
I cause him to react in that way. Eventually the love he showed caused me to lose a part of me. I finally got up
enough nerve to tell him it was over and to never call or show face around me again. That night I had enough of the
lies and the abuse. “It’s no way that this man could love me” I told myself. Twenty minutes later after I made the
declaration that it was over, my door came flying off the hinges. In shock I began to back up with no way in or out
but through the front entrance where his crazed angry frame stood. In desperation I ran up the stairs with the intent
to hide in the back room hoping that he would go in the front bedroom giving me time to get back down the stairs
and out the door to get help. I did just that and when I thought I heard him in the front bedroom I ran out to try to get
away and to my surprise he was waiting in the bathroom. I had nowhere to run but to back up into the front bedroom
where he cornered me against the wall. I could see the rage in his eyes as he approached me closer railing that I
better not ever threaten to leave him. As I tried to plea with him I felt a blow to my face which caused my face to hit
the wall and I slid down my body limp and my mind dazed. Blood was screeching out like a faucet drenching my
face and clothes. As I hit the floor he began to punch me continuously, all I could do is ball up in a knot, and my
main focus was protecting my unborn child. As I lay there screaming and begging him to stop he began kicking me
in my side and back. In my mind I’m thinking this man is going to kill me I cried persistently asking him to stop
“don’t you realize I’m pregnant, my baby, you’re going to hurt the baby I screamed in agony”! He was so enraged
that he didn’t even hear what I was saying. Then to top it off he picked up an ironing board that was folded and
leaning against the wall and started beating me across my back with it. The agonizing screams that lurked out of my
soul was heard by someone outside and the young man came running up the stairs and he grabbed him and yell
“man’ what are you doing?, that is a female”. He stopped and left the room still railing threats as I lay on the floor in
pain and bleeding profusely. I was rushed to the hospital and my baby girl died on the labor table while I was giving
birth to her. It took me to lose my child to realize that the question often asked, abuse, is it ever acceptable? Never!
Ladies and gentlemen married or un-married don’t ever make excuses for or accept abuse in no shape form
or fashion ever! Whether it is verbal, mental, and emotional or physical abuse is abuse!

The Factors behind Adolf Hitler’s rise to power by Sar-Sharat Ma’asehyahu….

OVER THE GLOBE TODAY WE SEE THE PEOPLES OF

THE WHITE RACES….” “…THOSE WHO TAKE NO
SHARE IN THIS RIVALRY WILL PLAY A PITIABLE
PART IN TIME TO COME…” “… [GERMANY] MUST,
AND WILL, TAKE OUR SHARE IN THE DOMINATION
OF THE WORLD BY THE WHITE RACES…”
One of the most significant events in modern
history is the rise of Adolfus (Adolf) Hitler to power.
How could such a maniacal paradox of a man
become first, Germany’s Chancellor, and then the
“Fuhrer” (leader) of the whole German people? There
must be some type of explanation for this in History
itself. El Hajj M. Shabazz stated that, “Out of all
areas of study, history is best qualified to reward all
research.” So it is there, in history, that we must
begin our search for the truth.
At the end of 1919 Germany was seen as the
culprit in the most influential event of the time World War I. The treaty of Versailles was agreed
upon in June and by the end of this conference
Germany was indebted to the other nations involved
at whopping 30 Billion dollars! The total war
damages for Germany in the war were calculated at
47 billion. Once the treaty was agreed to Germany
had to accept the bill and all responsibility for the
war. This event would be a crux upon which Hitler
would build his stage. Hitler would later refer to the
Treaty of Versailles numerous times as the reason
why Germany was in its condition. This enormous
burden created instability and chaos in Germany in
the years to come. Hitler would later blame the result
of the treaty on the Marxists (Communists) and Jews.
Anti-Semitism and German superiority over
other nations and races was a trademark of the
German people in Germany and in Austria. Hitler
grew up in this environment and continued the ageold myth of German superiority. A famous German
historian Heinrich Von Treitschke stated, “ALL
These statements make it clear that there was a
certain “something” brewing in the hearts and minds
of the German people already. Many leaders and
writers before Hitler called for Lebensraum or “living
room” and expansion of the German nation. Hitler
simply sang the “same ol’ song” again and again and
really said nothing new in these areas than any other
leader. Darwinism (survival of the fittest) had already
been applied to human beings via “Social”
Darwinism by men like Andrew Carnegie and other
Americans and it soon became an accepted view.
Hitler dedicates an entire chapter to this subject of
racial and ethnic superiority in his famous book Mein Kampf.
Germany’s Weimar Republic was weakening due
to the infamous treaty and economic crisis surged
through the country. Some have estimated an
inflation rate of 600 percent during these years. A
loaf of bread could cost 10,000 marks. No sooner did
Germany begin to recover after 1923-1924 did the
Great Depression hit in 1930-1931. Germans
remembered the economic plight Germany had
suffered but Adolf Hitler was busy as a small man in
the Nazi party preaching economic revival and
Lebensraum for Germany. By the time Hitler comes
to national presence he actually performs what is
seen as a miracle. He promised economic recovery
and delivered. His public works program
(reminiscent of Julius Caesar and Napoleon) began to
bring jobs to Germany’s unemployed. Hitler cut
unemployment by 5/6ths of its previous average. The
standard of living for the average German rose
considerably. Many saw Hitler as the savior for
Germany. But how did a failed Vienna artist become
the legal heir of the German Reich after leading
failed coup years earlier?
Hitler joined the National Socialist German
Workers Party aka the Nazi party in the early 20’s
but did not become leader until about 1924 or so. His
wild speeches and loud banter turned some off but it
excited the workers and lower-income people who
heard him. They loved his talk of German superiority
and how the Marxists and Jews were selling them out
and reaping the benefits (most Jews in Germany were
wealthy bankers so it made perfect sense).

The Heart and Soul of City
The conservatives in the government did not like
Hitler too much at all and most saw him as extreme
and uncouth. Yet, many of these leaders saw his
impact on the German people and thought that they
could use Hitler and his success for their own device.
Because of this, Hitler was named Chancellor of
Germany and lead a Nazi coup this time without
firing a single shot [Note: It is ironic that he failed in
the last coup attempt firing a single shot.]. This
underestimation of Hitler was a fatal mistake for the
German leadership, the German people and the
world.
Over the course of the next several years
Hitler would control an entire body politic. He and
the Nazis would use propaganda again and education
as their main tool for controlling the masses. Hitler
once stated, “The intelligence of ordinary people is
small…” to which these very people would say, “Ja!
Fuhrer wir folgen Dir!” (Yes, Leader we’ll follow
you, reminiscent of Julius Caesar and Napoleon).
Hitler proved that if one controls the minds of the
people their bodies will follow. The world would
then realize the mistake of their appeasement and
would one day repent for being so naïve. The rest as
“they” say is - history, which we have learned is best
qualified to reward all of our research.

The following bill was passed signed by the
Governor and placed into law as an emergency
act yet apparently the city has taken no action to
implement the program and the City Attorney is still
trying to prosecute property owners even though they
say that it is costly, time consuming and doesn't reap
full repayment of taxes. Also the states experience
with Tax Amnesty generated a budget surplus.

Is Antione Green making a comeback…………
The Richmond Crusade for Voters ask Antione Green to leave and Gov. McDonnell ask him to come
TheGovnor McDonnell appoints
he penned a column for the newspaper on "The
Problem with Charter Schools" in which he
denounced the governor's proposal.
Terming education "the civil rights issue of our
time," Marsh conceded that the public schools in
Virginia have room for improvement, particularly
when it comes to educating minorities - but claimed
charter schools are "not a silver bullet."
Antione Green was appointed to the Education
Commission of the States by Gov. McDonnell
After the Crusade fought me about my support of
charter schools if you want proof that charter schools
work miracles, look no further than Petersburg. For
years, the city has been saddled with woefully
underperforming schools. Consider this TimesDispatch news report from May, 2008:"It's been
nearly two years since Petersburg schools entered
into an agreement with the state to make drastic
changes to a failing school system.
Really? Because we're quite impressed with how
even the mention of a charter school in Petersburg
has galvanized the community. Petersburg seems to
be proving all those right-wing, free-market
ideologues right: They predicted that the mere
possibility of competition would get the attention of
the public schools in a way that no amount of
standardized testing ever could. Looks like it worked.
For the record, it should be noted that charter schools
are public schools - so "saving" public education
from charter schools makes about as much sense as
"saving" public highways from HOV lanes.
"Today, five of its seven schools are still
unaccredited; unlicensed teachers are teaching core
subjects, and there are questions about whether some
middle school students who are already on a preGED track are missing mandated Standards of
Learning tests.”Of all Petersburg public school
students who take the GED, the state believes about
51 percent pass. The state average is 72 percent . . . ."
Charter schools remain subject to oversight by the
local public school board and the State Board of
Education. And if a charter school fails to perform,
then the school board can shut it down.
Last year, four of Petersburg's seven schools
managed to "claw their way" to state accreditation, as
another news story put it. Yet despite heavy
intervention by state officials, including a
memorandum of understanding with the State Board
of Education and a related restructuring contingency
plan, in 2009-2010 not a single Petersburg school
made adequate yearly progress under the federal No
Child Left behind Act.
Petersburg's schools remained stuck near the bottom
of the performance heap for years, and nobody ever
formed a Committee to Save Public Education. Now
they have. You can thank the charter-school
movement for that. Mission is to reach out to a
multicultural society and become like family away
from home to inspire, teach and minister according to
God’s Holy Word.
Staff Reports/Times dispatch
None of this seemed to cause undue alarm in the
community. Yet now that Gov. Bob McDonnell has
expressed a desire to see a charter school open there,
Petersburg residents, clergy, and local leaders have
sprung into action and formed an opposition group:
The Committee to Save Public Education.
State Sen. Henry Marsh - notably silent for years
regarding Petersburg's failure to teach the children has suddenly found his voice, too. A few weeks ago
That's a higher standard than the one imposed on
other public schools, which are never shut down for
their failure to perform.

Long time President of Virginia State University, Eddie Moore Jr., has left his post after 16 years. His tenure
at VSU has been a mixed bag: however, recent press releases of his departure have only reported the positives.
During Moore’s tenure, VSU has been the recipient of substantial construction funds from the state to construct
the Douglas Wilder Building (Wilder engineered Moore’s appointment), the new technology building, a new
dormitory (named after Moore), a student apartment complex, a new softball field (after a threatened Title IX suit),
renovation of Rogers Field and state funds for the remodeling of Singleton Hall. Some of these projects were also
supported by loan funds.
While VSU has grown in recent years, mostly from taxpayer backed funds, the road has been bumpy, especially
in the area of governance, academics, and faculty staff relations.
In 2001, the Moore administration persuaded the Board of Visitors to eliminate the duly elected Faculty Council,
after the latter voted a no confidence in Moore and his provost. This was a political move to cement the
administration’s stifling of faculty dissent and governance issues. Moore and the Board replaced the council with
another body appointed by Moore’s administration. One disgruntled faculty member and removed chair labeled this
group as “ass kissers.”
In another development, Moore and his administration fired longtime sociology professor Jean cobs, after she
allegedly exhibited some disagreements with Moore’s political views. This resulted in several lawsuits and a
reported settlement. And in a related matter, Moore and his administration hired a business school dean without
going through the normal employment search procedures. Reportedly, this dean attempted to have a department
chair to change an evaluation of a subordinate, and when the department chair refused, the dean demoted the
department chair. Interestingly, these actions with respect to Cobbs and the business school faculty member resulted
in Virginia State University being censured by the national American Association of University Professors (AAUP)
in 2005. It was also learned that Moore and his administration outsourced faculty credentializing to a Virginia tech
professor to deflect personal responsibility for some of the decisions. At Moore’s departure, that censure still
remains in effect and VSU is the sole Virginia University under censure by the AAUP.
To Moore’s credit, it is reported that he has contributed substantial sums to VSU’s scholarship funds. At the same
time, it is reported that, in addition to his stated VSU salary of just under $300,000, he has received another
$300,000 in 2009 in the form of stock options and board compensation from Owens and Minor and Universal
Corporation. A majority of the Board of Visitors approved Moore’s serving on these boards. One observer pointed
out that if Moore’s compensation equated his time spent on the various jobs, less than one half of Moore’s time was
spent serving taxpayers of Virginia and the students and faculty of VSU.
Moore also leaves as a part of his legacy, numerous lawsuits filed against VSU, some concluded favorably.
Others cost the taxpayers and others, including Moore. One of these was a discrimination suit that resulted in a
judgment id federal court against Moore and against several others in his administration for damages and attorney’s
fees approaching $2Million.
One compliment to Moore was his maintenance of a superb public relations machine which spun only the
positives. Most of the public never heard about many of the discriminatory and secret personnel practices that were a
part of the culture at VSU.It was reported that many of the established personnel policies were disregarded when it
suited the administration, with the Board of visitors looking the other way.
Recently, Moore, who does not have an earned doctorate, but who does hold a certified public accountant (CPA)
certification, was awarded an honorary doctorate from Saint Paul’s College, as a part of his departing accolades.
Certainly, he deserved his due. Now VSU and the taxpayers of Virginia anxiously look forward to the new
leadership and vision of Dr.Keith Miller; however, many of Moore’s loyalists remain still in place.
Looking back over Moore’s tenure, it has indeed been a mixed bag; however, one cannot say that it was much
different before Moore was placed there at the urging of his sponsor, former governor, L.Douglas Wilder. At that
time, VSU also had many issues, including pending grand jury investigation that was never opened.
VSU now has a fresh opportunity to pursue a new vision and establish a new culture under the leadership of
Dr.Miller, and at the same time, reaffirm its HBCU mission. Moore’s tenure would fit perfect in episodes of the
Amos n Andy Show!
