STUDENT LIFE UC SANTA BARBARA In addition to outstanding academics, UCSB offers students the opportunity to participate in community and cultural activities, club membership, leadership, entertainment and more. THE STUDENT RESOURCE BUILDING (SRB) The Student Resource Building is a hub of student activity offering support services, Cultural Resource Centers to celebrate campus diversity, tutoring services and much more. Visit the SRB on the west side of campus, close to the residential community of Isla Vista. The Office of Student Life (OSL) in the SRB organizes and supports the efforts of about 500 campus organizations based on student interests in politics, culture, sports, travel, community service, wellness and Greek life. Staff advisors guide student organizations with leadership training and event planning, and they can help you get involved on campus. OSL can even help students create new clubs. http://studentlife.sa.ucsb.edu First-Year Programs for freshmen and transfer students help with the adjustment to academic life and introduce the many services available on campus. The Leadership Development Program offers practical skills and experiences, along with a certificate of completion, to help students develop leadership skills to create positive change. ASSOCIATED STUDENTS (A.S.) & STUDENT GOVERNMENT A.S., the undergraduate student government at UCSB, plays a significant role in shaping the student experience on campus. Through A.S., students can express their concerns, run for elected office and play an active role in the university community. A.S. organizations include the campus radio station, the Community Affairs Board for service activities, the Program Board for entertainment events, the Environmental Affairs Board, the Womyn’s Commission, The Bottom Line newspaper, the Human Rights Board, the Food Bank Committee, the Commission on Student Well-Being and many others. www.as.ucsb.edu/get-involved/current-organizations RESIDENCE HALL LIFE The UCSB residence halls offer a healthy environment for students in a beautiful setting—many residence halls have ocean or lagoon views.
