Hochjoch Glacier
Situated on the main ridge of the Ötztal Alps, on the Austrian border, the Hochjoch
Glacier (Giogo Alto) in Schnalstal (Val Senales) offers ideal conditions for tackling the
snow, rocks, and ice in the high Alps. The upper section of the glacier has a small ski
area which is accessible year round via the Glacier Cable Car. The lower section, on
the other hand, can be reached from a section of road that leads to the Bella Vista
mountain hut, in the summer, and by snowcat in the winter. Access to the glacier via
ski lift is limited to the local area. The surroundings offer a variety of natural mountain
landscapes that have remained nearly untouched.
