Yolo Bypass @ Lisbon Weir: Flow vs Stage (5/29/08 ‐ 11/30/12)

In a tidal environment, there can be multiple flow values for the same stage value since water oscillates upstream and downstream. As flood flows travel downstream, the effect of the tides are increasing dampened. Even so, there can still be different flow values when this station overtops its banks and flows onto the Yolo Bypass floodplain. At 9.4 feet NAVD88 elevation, measured flows have been as high as 3440 cfs and as low as 2480 cfs. This difference can be attributed partially to the tides, but as well to the leading edge versus trailing edge of storm flows, obstructions, and channel geometry changes.
