January Edition 2016 A message from your Election Committee 2016 election is just around the corner. The Election Committee has received only 3 signed nomination forms. Our community needs your support and help. The nominations will be presented at the next monthly Board of Directors meeting on January 11, 2016. To prevent this and keep our clubhouse safe, please help each other by checking and locking the doors when leaving. ~ Pool Rules - Posted in the pool area is a sign that lists the pool rules, for the sake of everyone’s safety and enjoyment - thank you for following them. ~ For the safety of everyone in our community, the speed limit is 20 MPH. Please sign up if there is something you’d like to participate in or help out with. This is extremely important as it ensures we have enough of everything needed to go around. Also, anytime you are planning to bring a dish to a function, please signup and note what you will be bringing so that others can see what if anything is still needed. If you have signed up planning to attend and something comes up, please remove your name or let the P.O.C. know. Please sign up at the clubhouse and note what you will be bringing. This allows others to see what's still needed. Claire will be available to teach beginner classes at 10:30 a.m. providing enough are interested. If interested please call Claire - 868.3656. January 30th ~ Dance w/ Cover 2 Cover ~ 7:00 p.m. Cost $10.00 pp Hors D’ oeuvres provided by your Social Club. Come enjoy a night out with an awesome group, friends and entertainment and dance the night away. 3 January Edition - 2016 Great Cypress Village Gazette The 50/50 of $19.00 was won by Jacky Proulx. Christmas Day Dinner’s ham was prepared by Tom Congratulations! Thompson and was wonderful. Thank you also to Christmas Caroling was very enjoyable. Thank you’s - Our Christmas Dinner Dance was a lot of fun! Tom Thompson and Kim Capasso did a fantastic job preparing the beef. Those we love remain with us, for love itself lives on. The 50/50 of $75.00 was won by Jackie Bredlau. Congratulations! And cherished memories never fade because a loved one’s gone. To Judie Birch for the making of our tickets. Those we love can never be more than a thought apart, for as long as there is a memory, they’ll live on in our heart. The Golf Cart Parade was a fun to watch. Shelly Hamilton did a great job organizing it and everyone enjoyed watching. Unknown ~ With Heart Felt Condolences ~ To: Ruth Hoover, family and friends. Frank passed away after three years of illness. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years of marriage and three children. Frank and Ruth have been residents of G.C.V. for the past 10 years. Christmas lights and decorations looked beautiful this year. Thank you to everyone for your Christmas spirit! The Christmas light decoration winners were: First place ~ Second place ~ Third Place ~ Honorable mention ~ There will be a memorial on January 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beacon Baptist Church. 13343 Fivay Rd. Ruth. 4 January Edition - 2016 Great Cypress Village Gazette We’d thought it would be fun to spotlight two ~ four couples or individuals from our village each month and tell you a little something about them that perhaps you didn't already know. The LaFountain Family Ed & Barb LaFountain ~ They come to us from Michigan and have lived in the park for about a year. Ed is blessed with one daughter and two grandsons. Together their blessed with a daughter. Jim & Nancy LaFountain ~ Coming from Michigan, they've lived here in the park since 2009. They are blessed with two daughters, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. We asked what their “over the top” trips were? Barb tells us hers was going to Disney World with her daughter, Amber. Ed’s was, watching his daughter being born. Nancy’s hobbies are, crafting, writing inspirational thoughts and journaling. Jim enjoys hunting and gardening. Our final question is, who is your “super hero”? Barb tells us about the admiration she feels for her daughter, Amber. She always knows what she wants and go’s for it as well as being very focused and career driven. Ed’s is J.F.K. Why? Because he stood up for the Cuban crisis, was very connected to the citizens and was our youngest president. Jim would enjoy an Alaskan Cruise for his bucket list trip. Nancy would love to visit St. Augustine at Christmas time to see the lights and decorations. Thank you both for sharing with us. We thank you both for sharing with us. The LaFountain Family Meet Judy Logsdon. She’s also part of the LaFountain family. She retired from banking and moved here three months ago from Michigan to be close to her family. Brothers, Jim and Ed and sister in-laws, Barb and Nancy. Judy is blessed with one son and three grandchildren. Her “over the top” trip was, spending Thanksgiving in Daytona. She and her family enjoyed the 75º weather on the beach. No cooking, no worries. Best ever family time. Judy’s bucket list trip would be to go with the family to an island for the holiday. Drinks on the beach and no gifts, no shopping, no decorating and no stress at Christmas. Judy’s hobbies are, shopping and baking. Her super hero was her mother because she was the family rock. She was very unique and nothing was too big or too complicated for her. Judy loved knowing she always a phone call away. Judy, welcome to our park and thank you for sharing a little bit about yourself.
