19 75 Spelarföreningen Fotboll I Sverige (SFS) The main goal of the SFS is to protect the players and their interests in all possible ways and at the same time also improve the conditions of all football players in Sweden. The SFS was established 1975 and one of the founders Gert Persson is still (38 years later!) going strong as the current President. The SFS have got around 700 members at the moment where most of the members are players in the men´s first and second league, and also the women´s first league. As a member of the international players association FIFPro we have a lot of cooperation with other player unions. By natural causes we have a tight collaboration with our Nordic neighbors Denmark, Finland and Norway. In the FIFPro Winter tournament we also cooperate with Ireland. In Sweden we also tend to pull together player unions from other sports in an organization called Sports Pro Sverige. The preparations before the tournament did begin in November with invitations to our members without contract. In late December we invited 24 players to participate at a 3 day camp in Stockholm 6th – 8th of January. The players were all very motivated and trying their best to be a part of our 16 player squad going to Oslo. Responsible coaches for team Sweden is the former players (nowadays leaders), Jesper Blomqvist and Andreas Andersson. Jesper who played for(amongst other clubs), Manchester United, AC Milan and IFK Göteborg. Andreas had a successful career in for instance AC Milan, Newcastle united and AIK. They were both frequently playing for the Swedish national team. To take care of the player’s health (and probably more) we have our physio Palle Davidsson. We also have our SFS staff as project leaders which includes Magnus Erlingmark, secretary general and Johan Göransson, advisor.
