European University of Tirana (UET) is a leading higher education
institution in Albania, established in full compliance with the
requirements and criteria of the Bologna Charter, including study
programmes in the three levels of study: BA; MA and Doctorates. The
European University of Tirana seeks to cooperate with universities in the
UK in order to develop projects in the framework of the Erasmus+
programme, particularly for KA1 on mobility of staff and students and

The University of Sarajevo is oriented towards international cooperation,
building bridges between cultures, and establishing partnerships with
universities from all over the world. As a university which participates in
many international programs, primarily in the ones coordinated from the
European Commission (Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, Erasmus+) this
would be a good opportunity to establish contacts and form networks for
mutual cooperation for future activities in Erasmus+. University of
Sarajevo has variety of study fields and programmes to offer, as well as
well experience in credit mobility and capacity building projects, which
could be of interest for EU partners. International Relations Office is
engaged in project management for many international projects and
academic exchange, so establishment of the initiative for interinstitutional agreements could be an benefit.

For appr. 15 years I have taught BCS at various institutions of higher
learning (University of Copenhagen since 2007) and was instrumental in
the initiation of exchange of students, through Erasmus+ between the
Universities of Belgrade and Copenhagen. The first students began their
studies in September 2015 under the auspices of this programme. (Danish
students of Serbian go to Belgrade. Serbian students of Danish come to
Copenhagen.)
I wish to strengthen and initiate connections between The Balkan Studies
Programme at University of Copenhagen (UCPH) and the programmes at
universities in Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia & Hercegovina and Kosovo,
which deal with the languages Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian and
Montenegrin. I also wish to examine the possibilities of training
programmes for staff (Staff mobility - training)
I wish to investigate the possibility of cooperation with universities in
Albania and Kosovo with a view to studies of Albanian language, which
unfortunately is not taught at UCPH.

I am the coordinator of the undergraduate programme in Balkan studies, a
language based area studies focusing on the culture and history of
especially the formerly Yugoslav countries. We are sincerely convinced
that our students should stay for at least one term in one of the countries
they are studying, both to familiarize themselves with the region and in
order to strengthen their knowledge of the language they are studying
(most often that will be Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, but we would also be
very interested in possibilities for studying Albanian). Moreover, our
department welcomes guest students from Serbia and Kosovo.

"I would like to participate in the contact seminar for several reasons.
As a representative of the Institute of Government and Politics of the
University of Tartu, I would like to develop contacts with all participating
Universities to introduce our English-language master's programmes
(International Relations and Regional Studies; Democracy and
Governance; Baltic Sea Region Studies). Also, I would like to discuss our
new Center for IT Impact Studies which focuses on studying the impact
of public e-services. The center will launch new MOOCs starting from
2016, which might be of interest to Western Balkan countries. In return, I
would like to gather firsthand information about the opportunities that
Western Balkan universities have to offer, so we would be able to
introduce these HEIs to our students and also staff.
I am also especially interested in building a contact network with
Kosovar and Serbian Universities that might allow us to partner for
student exchange in 2016 or 2017. Our IR programme has a specific
course for field work in conflict areas, formerly our students have visited
TRNC/RoC, Transnistria/Moldova and Nagorno-Karabakh. TRNC
students have also visited University of Tartu several times in return. We
would be very interested in bringing this course to Kosovo and Serbia to
give our students an opportunity to learn more about conflict resolution
and international management. We would also like to welcome students
from Kosovo and/or Serbia in Estonia to focus on Estonian experiences
regarding e.g. democratization, applying for EU membership, using ICT
for improving public services etc.
Our institute is also applying for funding from Erasmus+ to use during
Spring Semester 2016 for Learning Mobility for Individuals. According
to a preliminary agreement, I would be teaching in University of Belgrad,
Serbia. My visit would allow me to discuss possible course ideas and
expectations directly.
In general, I see this contact seminar as an excellent opportunity to
discuss further cooperation and opportunities for both student and staff
mobility with the Western Balkans universities."

I am working at the Aleksanteri Institute (Finnish Centre of Russian and
East European Studies) with interest on the West-Balkans. I am also
responsible for developing internationalization of higher education at the
Institute, as in my position as a founding member of Teachers Academy
of the University of Helsinki, with similar special task on the university
level. I also lead a new Jean Monnet Module (East within Europe, granted
for the period 2015-2018) and I plan to extend its scope to be involved in
capacity building projects, especially regarding civic education,
interdisciplinary and deliberative teaching in democratization-related
courses with new Finnish methods of pedagogy. In addition, I lead a
group of researchers (7) focusing on this area that could be easily
mobilized in participating in capacity building projects. I want to apply
for capacity building project next year so it would be very important to
have the possibility to meet possible partners in person and discuss
perspectives of collaboration and to network obviously.

We have a number of partner universities in the Western Balkans, e.g. the
University of Belgrad, the University of Novi Sad (our two institutions
are members of the Campus Europae network), the University of
Sarajevo, and the University of Banja Luka. A few years ago, I organised,
on our Joensuu Campus, an Erasmus Mundus seminar (then Action 4) on
Higher Education in the Nordic Countries in the Tea Team project
coordinated by the Open Society Foundation in London. During that
seminar aiming at enhancing the attractiveness of the European Higher
Education Area, I learned to know several representatives of universities
in the Western Balkans and have been keeping in touch with them ever
since. The University of Eastern Finland would very much like to have
Erasmus+ partners in these countries. We already won funding for our
Erasmus+ student and teaching staff exchanges with the University of
Novi Sad. We would also be very interested in cooperating with partners
in the Western Balkans within the framework of Erasmus+ educational
cooperation projects. We also have close contacts with universities in the
Nordic and Baltic countries and would like to include partners from these
countries into joint Erasmus+ projects. An opportunity to participate in
the Nordic-Baltic Contact Seminar would, therefore, be of vital
importance for our future success in the Erasmus+ programme.

services (especially healthy ageing and elderly care). Often it is hard to

I am very thrilled for offering this great opportunity for young generation
from Kosovo, Serbia and the Baltic countries to meet, network, and
collaborate on the Erasmus projects.
I am particularly interested in this opportunity for two reasons. The first
reason is that I am one of the founders and a director of the NGO Youth
Empowerment Kosovo, which is based in Mitrovica. The main activities
of the NGO is to engage im building peace and social, environmental, and
economic activities and opportunities for youth from both north and south
Mitrovica. The reason our NGO Youth Empowerment Kosovo does not
differentiate north and south is because its staff is diverse and because we
work with other NGOs in both south and north. The second reason for
expressing my interest in this collaboration on this opportunity is because
I have little knowledge on the Erasmus programme opportunities and this
is therefore an innovative way to find out more so that I can apply for
grants, funds, and partnerships with my NGO.

Science (graduated by July 2, 2015). I did graduate at Xhevdet Doda
Gymnasium in Natural Science. Complementing my strong academic
performance is my ambition to be leader in analyzing politics in country
and probably in the Balkans. Being part of various non-governmental
organizations that promote human rights as: Young Women's
Empowerment Initiative and Kosova Women's Network, I have

Faculty of Public Safety, providing a Bachelor level study program in
Public Safety. KAPS has cooperation agreements with educational
institutions of public safety in the Balkans (Albania), Nordic countries
(Finland) and Baltic countries (Estonia). However, in order to further
strengthen the cooperation with similar educational institutions in all

As the biggest private higher education institution in Kosovo, AAB
College is very interested in creating networks for capacity building for
its staff and for creating possibilities for the students for potential

benefit our college enormously and most importantly benefit our students

institution, the European College of Kosovo. We are a private university

Starting from the IBCM’s vision to become an internationally recognized
center of excellence for higher vocational education, international

are, it is of great importance for the students from this region to be well

to prepare for the upcoming challenges for the region – EU integration,

•All study programs are offered in the English language exclusively;

(Baden-Wurttemberg); •IBCM issues double degrees from a Danish
partner institution (Lillebaelt Academy for Professional Higher
Education); •IBCM is a member of the European Network for Business

I have recently finished my bachelor studies at the Faculty of
Engineering, Computer Sciences Department at the University of
Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, in Prishtina, Kosovo. I am looking forward
to graduating by January, 2016.
I have chosen to apply for this seminar, because after having researched
and gained information for the Erasmus + program and this seminar
specifically, I came to conclude that such a format is very beneficial for
my personal and professional profile by providing me with opportunities I
am seek for. Such an experience offered through this seminar is unique to
me, because there is no equivalent at my home university.
This experience is my chance to explore opportunities and possible
positive outcomes that will shape my future. I especially appreciate the
wide range youngsters from all over the region participating. Moreover, I
consider this as a great opportunity of meeting my peers and exchange
knowledge, personal and professional experiences.
I am looking forward to continuing my master studies abroad. Having
recently attended a special course on Biomedical Engineering and
Technology organized by Medtronic, a well-known medical technology
development company, I came to conclude that this very field is the one I
am willing to continue for my master studies. Biomedical engineering is a
field still to be explored in my native country but nevertheless in need for
domestic experts. Such a program is offered in only a few universities,
some of the most prestigious of which in the Baltic countries, such as
Norway, Sweden and Finland. It would be my honor to have the chance
to attend my studies in this field as a beneficiary of the Erasmus +
program.
I am confident that my experience as part of this seminar would be
extremely exciting, valuable and benefiting for my overall personal and
professional development.

My motivation to take part in Nordic-Baltic Contact Seminar is based on
my professional, personal development and vision of Northern Lithuania
College to develop international activities. International activity is an
important component of Northern Lithuania College’s strategy, enabling
academic staff and students of the college to be globally active and well
prepared for future challenges. Northern Lithuania College collaborates
with educational institutions, networks and associations, businesses units
around the world and is interested to expand this collaboration among

Since 2010, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is one of the
members of Northern Dimension Institute (NDI - an academic partner in
the Northern Dimension (ND) structures). The NDI prepares Northern
Dimension-related studies and reports, and coordinates the collection of
funding for research projects. NDI aims to foster cooperation in Northern
and Baltic Sea Region between the academia, public sector and business
actors as well as disseminate and promote information and expertise
related to Northern Dimension among the decision-makers and society at

Ms Zivile Pauzaite has been involved in ND activities since 2005 as a
young researcher, from 2010 as a contact person between KTU and NDI

Aleksandras Stulginskis University (ASU) is strongly interested on
stimulation of students and teachers exchange with foreign universities;
development of study openness and internationalisation by involving
foreign teachers and researchers into academic processes. Active
development of international studies in all three study cycles would
benefit from participation the students and teachers from Western Balkan
countries. International study programs would increase their vitality,
enrich the experiences of teaching staff of ASU and partners from
Western Balkans, increase the efficiency of study resources and the study
internationalisation process of ASU. International study programmes in
English at ASU in the field of engineering, business administration and
management, agro-biotechnology could accept the exchange students
from Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzogovina, Montenegro and Albania.
Supervised PhD studies in the fields of agronomy, forestry,
environmental sciences, transport, mechanical and environmental
engineering, economics, management and administration are possible in
ASU and according partners at Western Balkan countries. The education
experience and scientific achievements of Western Balkan countries
universities are also very useful for ASU. Such cooperation could be
realised by the using the ERASMUS exchange between programme and
partner countries. ASU signed Memorandum of Understanding with some
Serbian, Albanian and Bosnia and Herzogovina universities, but the
contacts with those universities are very week. Besides that ASU would
be interested to establish the cooperation with other Western Balkan
countries and universities.

I am very motivated to participate in this seminar because I have
extensive experience with various projects of scientific research and
academic education since 1996 in the area of the West Balkans. At the
same time NMBU still has agreements on institutional cooperation in the
field of agriculture, forestry and veterinary medicine, with 18 faculties in
Albania (Tirana), Bosnia & Herzegovina (Sarajevo, Mostar & Banja
Luka), Kosovo (Pristina & Kosovska Mitrovica), Croatia (Osijek &
Zadar) Macedonia (Skopje), Montenegro (hemijskog), Slovenia
(Maribor) and Serbia (Belgrade & Novi Sad). Therefore, I would like to
participate in this Seminar and possibly in new similar projects in this
geographical area of Europe!
