While SASUG has reviewed various options and has opinions on future potential overlays, this committee will look at any final improvements to the functionality of 331 before going live. Access the test site at: http://ibtest.tln.lib.mi.us To join the iBistro Committee mailing list, go to: http://tln.lib.mi.us/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5&Itemid=12 Send e-mail to the iBistro Committee at [email protected] Numerous improvements will come with the June transition: Tabs will move from across the top of the screen to a right hand box labeled “Find Material.” o “Book” was originally removed as an option because the search does not incorporate all book-related item types such as New, paperback, etc. The more all-compassing way to search for books is to do an Advanced Search on Item Type. However, discussion ensued and Book will return to the list of material types in the list of “Find Material.” Libraries will have the option for on-line user registration. This will NOT be part of the June 6th roll-out and will be further discussed by SASUG for possible implementation. o Upon completion of an on-line form, a basic user record would be created in Workflows with the library receiving e-mail notification of the registration. Upon completion of the form, the patron would be instructed to visit the library for verification and to obtain their library card. Libraries opting into this feature would set parameters as to whether a patron could, for example, place holds upon completion of the registration (creation of basic user account). “My Account” will include access points for: Summary, Check Outs, Holds and Bills. Columns under My Account will be sort-able. Libraries would have the option for on-line bill payment. When placing a hold, patrons will be able to suspend their hold with a start and end dates of their choice. Libraries would still have the prerogative of setting a hold expiration date to, for example, one year. When searching via an individual library’s environment, you would see the contact information and business hours for that library prominently displayed on the search screen. This section may include an option to bring up a map of the library’s location and/or a link to their homepage. The “Details” button will disappear from the Hit/Results List. The Hit List will include title, author, publication date, cover art, corresponding icon (in connection to however the first owning library linked the item), and an option to “Add to bibliography.” Discussion ensued as to whether to include a few lines from the Item Information Summary. Hit Lists will display twenty records Hit Lists with fewer than 5,000 results are sorted by publication date. To sort otherwise, scroll to the bottom of the Hit List for the sort feature. Clicking on the title or cover art in a Hit List will take you to the Item Record which will include tags and “find more” from Library Thing for Libraries and will offer the Place Hold option. Item type icons will be on the right hand side of the screen and cover art will be on the left. “Add to bibliography” will be moved to under the cover art. Regarding the Place Hold screen, discussion ensued whether to separate or stack the “Place Hold” and “Clear Form” options. There is a future possibility to add searching other elements such as databases from eLibrary. There was some discussion on “Other Resources” and whether this is the best wording to lead patrons to the list of TLN non-shared catalogs. A new option on a Hit List will be “X-Ref” which stands for cross-reference. Selecting X-Ref provides the same results as what appears in “Try These Too…” All current messages (Copies On Order, Copies Available, etc) will continue to exist The random scroll bar which appears in some item records within the Hit List will disappear Discussion ensure regarding minor modifications to buttons on various screens Further discussion ensued regarding the option of having a pop-up map and or link to library’s web site on catalog screen. SIRSI currently interacts with BookMine app for the I-phone. Other smart phone apps may develop. The catalog can be viewed on any smart phone. Discussion ensued on whether to include “What Others Are Reading” list on the main search page. Kids Library and Other Resources will remain the same.
