THE LANGHE REGION AND THE
TERRITORY OF ALBA
That of the Langhe is an area that lends

Cycling routes, such as in the area of
Monregalese and the high Langa, go to
the discovery of art and nature and wind
through breathtaking ancient castles,
vineyards and valleys, a true paradise

ISEO LAKE
Iseo lake is a summer destination for
cycling at all levels. The fact is that on that
circuit were challenged professionals of
the Lombarda Cycling Week once called
the Bergamasco Cycling Tour.
A classic tour, what it is “baptized” by
cyclists also amateurs, mostly coming
from Val Camonica and low Sebino, it is
a test that always gives great satisfaction.
GARDA LAKE
Garda lake has a completely different
charm if it is visited by bicycle. And there
is something for all tastes. The Gran
fondo Paola Pezzo, for example, offers
a long Cross-Country of around 39 km
and 1,200 meters in altitude, while in July
there is the triathlon’s busiest of the Italian
racing calendar, a real test, very attractive
for the audience.

The Euganean Hills is perfect for those
who want to begin to approach the
cycling because there is plain but there
are also climbing. The cycling tour of the
Sanctuaries of Abano Terme, is a perfect
opportunity to combine the pleasure of
discovering the sport of an area, while
the Gran Fondo Atestina Super Bike is a
full race, nice mix of climbs and descents
immersed in the Regional Park of the
Euganean Hills.

THE NATURE IS
THE BIG STAR
The entire north area is characterized by a strong identity. Responsible
the landscape of the Dolomites, and the mythical peaks such as Mount
Rosa. Also responsible its lakes, such as Garda Lake and Maggiore
Lake, the spa and the cities of art. In Val di Sole for example you can visit
the medieval castle of Caldes, a treasure trove of history and legends,
while on Garda Lake, from Torbole, worth visiting the Marmitte dei
Giganti, interesting phenomenon of glacial erosions, and at the foot of
the Euganean Hills you can visit the town of Abano Terme, famous for
its large spa complex.
There are even the cities of art, including Padua, a city of art and faith,
famous for the Basilica of St. Anthony and the works of Giotto on
the inside, and Turin, symbolized by the Mole Antonelliana and other
important monuments and cultural attractions including the Museum of
Egyptian, considered one of the most important in the world for the
number and quality of the archaeological remains preserved. From the
terraces of the roof of Milan Cathedral, in addition to the phantasmagoric
curtain spiers and pinnacles, you can see almost the whole of Lombardy:
the “low” opulent green, up to the foothills and alpine ridge. Milan, after
Rome, is the most populous city of Italy, a very active city with many
centuries of history on its shoulders and the famous monuments that

distinguish it. Do not miss the Duomo, the Castello Sforzesco, the
Pinacoteca di Brera, Sant’Ambrogio and much more.
Livigno offers to the visitor numerous natural beauties and lends itself to
interesting excursions to St. Moritz, the Swiss National Park, the Stelvio
National Park and in Bormio, the famous spa center that still retains
a characteristic old core with narrow winding streets and interesting
churches.

The Adriatic Area offers scenic routes with sea view for cyclists, a mild
climate and a hinterland rich in villages and historic towns, medieval
castles still intact. The typicality of the territory merges with the great
spirit of hospitality that characterizes these areas making them unique
even for those who do not ride.
Nove Colli
The Nove Colli is the discovery of the
mythical places for cycling, one of the
most loved gran fondo by cyclists. It
is the Romagna to ride, sweet in the
landscape, challenging when you go up
and cross the hills.
A sore legs itinerary with the climbs of
Polenta, Pieve di Rivoschio, Ciola and
Barbotto, climb that “make a difference”
in a challenging path: about 130 km to
ride, the total ascent is 1871 m, about 50
km climb and slight slope.
CIPPO
Being cyclist in Romagna means to try
at least once the famous climb of Cippo
which leads us back to the great Marco
Pantani. The climb to Mount Cippo of
Carpegna, at an altitude of 1423 meters
above sea level.
The itinerary starts in Riccione, touches
the junction towards Mercatino Conca,
and heads for Monte Cerignone. A
hard climb down hills even with a 18%
gradient that only a little trained amateur
can face. It is the ideal summer tour after
a few months of training.
GRAN SASSO
Monte Conero
The Conero Mountain by bike is a
beautiful cycling adventure, can be
discovered with the road bike and
mountain bike, within a protected area,
rich in environmental values. One of
the recommended routes starts to the
famous beach of Sirolo, climbs the steep
side of the mountain and goes up starting
from the restaurant Le Cave and finishing
to the Camaldolese Monastery at 475 m
above sea level. It is a stretch of about 3
km and an altitude difference of 305 m,
through forest vegetation characterized
by a few bends overlooking the sea.

In Abruzzo, paths overlook the Gran
Sasso, in an area that is nature and
wildlife heritage among the purest in the
National Park.
The Gran Sasso, both from the Terni
area and from that of Aquila, has often
been a battleground between the Corsa
Rosa. Here you can feel the passion for
enterprises in the cycling and also for this,
the Gran Fondo Danilo Di Luca, for 140
km - in the long path - and a maximum
height difference of 2,800 meters is really
successful.

The Adriatic area is famous for beach holidays, for its food and wine, for
the landscape that reserves big surprises.
In the area of Valmarecchia and Valconca, there are some of the most
significant traces of the Roman period and the Middle Ages: in Rimini is
still possible to admire the Arch of Augustus, the oldest of the surviving
Roman arches, while in the hinterland between Rimini, Riccione and
Cattolica you can take a dip in the history of the Malatesta, rocks, castles
and fortified villages.
A few kilometers from the Riviera is easy to visit the ancient Republic of
San Marino and Montefeltro, fascinating territory where high on a cliff
stands the fort of S. Leo, while in Gradara Castle still lives today the story
of Paolo and Francesca da Rimini.
This vast territory has experienced an intricate and fragmented story,
where the artistic activity was concentrated in many places including
Urbino, around the splendid Palazzo Ducale, in Loreto in the Basilica of
St. Casa, in Pesaro in the Ducal Palace and Fortress, in Jesi in the Palazzo
della Signoria, and Ancona, picturesquely disposed as an amphitheater
in the hills surrounding the port and retaining many historical sites.
Continuing our journey in the south, the landscape changes color and
flavor, the weather gets warmer, the vegetation changes and the works
of art that bear witness to the ancient culture of the area.
Cathedrals, abbeys, monasteries, castles and villages are the main
attraction of this land along with celebrities who have crossed.
One of these is Gabriele d’Annunzio, the poet was born in Pescara, who
left an important imprint in Italian history of the early ‘900, eclectic and
extraordinary figure who still lives in the relics and memories kept in the
house museum dedicated to him.

Cinque Terre
Massa Vecchia
The Maremma Cup is an event that allows
us to discover beautiful places around
Massa Vecchia and perfectly suitable for
cycling. With its spectacular short races,
between Massa Marittima, Porto Santo
Stefano, Grosseto and Arcidosso, this
area attracts mountain bikers and has
a nomination to the organization of the
World MTB proposal from a champion
like Thomas Frischknecht.
Cinque Terre in cycling vocabulary means
fatigue and pleasure of the landscape.
It is no coincidence between the paths
in Cinque Terre was born one of the
great gran fondo amateur considered
among the toughest races of the type
but definitely one of the most beautiful in
Italy. The path winds of 149 km to 3000
m in altitude with a panoramic view of the
Gulf of La Spezia. Among the efforts to
report, there is the ascent of the Colletta
di Guaitarola, also addressed by the Tour
of Italy, which cross the hills then on the
Passo del Bracco.
Maremma
The off roads of the Maremma are
ideal for those who love cycling holiday
and food and wine holiday by bike. In
Grosseto, many are organized, even in
the warmer months like July and August.
Among the most important stages in
Maremma, we recommend Orbetello, the
unique glimpse of Ansedonia, and then
the giardino dei Tarocchi, Capalbio and a
path along the Uccellina park that arrives
in Talamone.
ROMAN HILLS
Territory with bike paths among the most
beautiful, hills, olive groves and vineyards,
and then pass through a wooded area
near Fiuggi. From Piglio to Acuto pedaling
for 23 km, 10% of the maximum slope,
maximum altitude is 900 m above sea
level. More challenging, about
35 km starting from the low Ciociaria,
is the route that begins in Paliano. This
route climbs halfway up the mountains
Ernici till Fiuggi, crossing Serrone, Piglio
and Acuto.

Lazio that is organized for over 10 years
was born from sunday off roading along
the paths of Monti Aurunci. Trying and

maritime republic, is home to many cultural and artistic events and is
home to one of the most famous aquariums in Europe.
But the concentration of beauty and art does not end here. From Fiesole
in Cortona and Chiusi, from Volterra to Populonia, Vetulonia and Sovana
is a succession of walls and gates, temples and tombs until you get to
Siena, S. Gimignano, Pisa and Florence, famous cities around the world,
impossible to summarize in a few lines.
Italian pride is embodied in the works of people who have made
history, such as Dante Alighieri and Leonardo da Vinci, but also Giotto,
Michelangelo, Raffaello, active witnesses of genius, inspiration and
creativity that have no equal.
For lovers of art and history, you will visit Rome, the capital, which is lying
on its seven hills - the Aventine, the Capitoline Hill, the Caelian, Esquiline,
Palatine Hill and the Quirinal.
Worth a visit Tivoli, the famous Villa Adriana of the Roman era, the
sixteenth-century Villa d’Este and Villa Gregoriana, built in the nineteenth
century and Subiaco, surrounded by the Natural Park of Simbruini,
Fiuggi with its spa, and finally, the area Prenestina and Lepine Mountains,
located between the Valley and the Albani hills.

Beautiful dirt tracks near Arzachena,
such as “The Way of the giants” known
for the Olympic deeds of Paola Pezzo,
Olympic champion of MTB.
The Puglia, with its variety of landscapes,
offers endless possibilities for lovers of
bikes, from experts to beginners.
The routes are varied: from the Natural
Park of Saline di Margherita di Savoia,
including pink flamingos and Lakes to
that of the Gargano National Park with its
53.5 km and 789 m in altitude through
the Foresta Umbra.
Forio d’Ischia
Ischia is a popular destination for those
who love the sea, the thermal well-being
and the culture. An island kissed by the
sun, the cradle of ancient civilizations to
discover to the Archaeological Museum
of Pithecusae at Villa Arbusto and the
Aragonese Castle overlooking the sea.
Ischia is also loved for its bike trails and
the Forio D’Ischia Crono, challenging but
suggestive path of about 20 km.
Amalfi COAST
The Amalfi coast, overlooking the Gulf of
Salerno, is famous for its natural beauty
with roads that lend themselves to
cycling. The Gran Fondo Costa d’Amalfi
opened in 2013 is ready to become an
appointment loved by cyclists: departing
from the Port of Amalfi, visiting cities such
as Ravello and Vietri sul Mare, 120 km
of route and Gilberto Simoni is ready to
encourage the cyclists who will ride a
mountain bike.

ETNA
Etna: it is obliged the cycle route on the
highest volcano in Europe. The slopes of
the volcano are almost entirely scalable
on paved roads. You will pass by the
Rifugio Sapienza at 1889 meters above
the sea level or from Rifugio Citelli to
1741mt. Sicily also offers other bike
routes with the flavor as the natural river
park of the Alcantara and the natural
reserve of the Forre Laviche del Simeto.

IN THE OPEN AIR
Southern Italy is a journey through history and in the embrace of the
sun, between the red of chillies, the blue sea, the green of prickly pears.
Do not miss Pompeii, the Roman city buried by Vesuvius in 79 AD, and
the archaeological area of Paestum, with its northern and southern
sanctuary, the Greek Agora and then the Roman Forum. Among bicycle
routes and the cultural stops, are also worth visiting the ruins of Velia.
About the archaic city, there are remains of considerable traces of the
Acropolis where you can see a settlement with numerous homes.
At Caserta worth a visit the imposing Royal Palace, designed by Luigi
Vanvitelli in 1752 for Charles of Bourbon, a massive rectangular building
the plant symmetrical with four courtyards linked by galleries and by a
vast park is 3 km long with gardens, fountains, waterfalls and sculptures.
Who wants to give you a holiday of relaxation and wellbeing, we
recommend the Spa of Ischia with the possibility to choose between
several thermal parks, surrounded by nature and culture.
The whole south area can be considered an open-air museum, a
priceless heritage that dates back to the Paleolithic era.
For example in Olbia remain traces of Nuraghic civilization while along
the Arzachena-Luogosanto meet the tomb of the giants of Li Lolghi and
the necropolis of Li Muri.

On the north coast, near the beautiful beaches of Capo Testa and
Santa Reparata, you can see the quarry pieces of granite mines that are
now abandoned. Traces of this ancient past are also preserved in the
exhibition spaces of the museum, such as the ethnographic museum of
Palau or the museum of the sea in San Teodoro.
