DETAILS: ‘Rock for Life’ when Rowan University holds its 15th annual Organ Donor
Awareness Day. The event promotes organ donation on the Rowan University Campus

This year, Rowan brings Organpalooza to the Student Center Patio with live music
from The Loop, The Gay Blades, Stillicide, and Cheap Sunglasses. Speakers from
Transplant Speakers International will recount their personal life-saving stories.

‘Rock for Life’ at Rowan University’s 15th Annual Organ Donor Awareness Day
Glassboro, NJ – Rowan University’s Public Relations Students Society of America
(PRSSA) is hosting its 15th annual Organ Donor Awareness Day on Tuesday, April 10,
2007, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Student Center Patio, 201 Mullica Hill Road.
This year’s event, Organpalooza, features a concert theme with live music from The
Loop, The Gay Blades, Stillicide and Cheap Sunglasses. Activities throughout the day
include rootbeer pong, a wing eating contest and lots of chances to win prizes including
gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses.
Guest speakers include Senator Fred Madden, Frank X. Bodino and Jacob Locicero
from Transplant Speakers International and PRSSA’s Anthony J. Fulginiti.
Representatives from the Gift of Life, a non-profit organization that creates awareness
and generates organ and tissue donors, will also be there. For more information, please

Anthony J. Fulginiti, APR, Fellow PRSA, founded the chapter in 1976. In 1977, the
Philadelphia PRSA chapter chartered the “Glassboro State College Chapter.” Our chapter
became the “Anthony J. Fulginiti Chapter” at Glassboro State College in 1984. Under
Professor Fulginiti’s guidance, our chapter emerges as one of the top PRSSA chapters in
the nation. AJF PRSSA takes pride in its achievement and appreciates the dedication of
its members.

Today’s Guests and Appearances
Senator Fred Madden serves as State Senator in the 4th Legislative District, which
includes Camden County, municipalities of Clementon, Gloucester Township, Laurel
Springs, Lindenwold and the Gloucester County municipalities of Franklin, Glassboro,
Monroe, Newfield, Pitman and Washington. He serves as Vice Chair of the Senate
Transportation Committee. He is also a member of the Senate Community, Urban Affairs
Committee, the Senate Health and Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee.
A past career law enforecement officer, Senator Madden rose to the rank of Lieutenant
Colonel in the New Jersey State Police and led the force of 4,000 enlisted and civilian
employees as acting superintendent.
Senator Madden served as acting superintendent of the NJ State Police until he decided
to run for the Senate in February of 2003. Since his election, he has been a tireless advocate fighting for the families of the 4th District.
While serving in uniform, Senator Madden earned an Associate of Science degree in
law enforcement from Camden County Community College, a B.A. from Glassboro State
College (now Rowan University) and an M.A. in criminal justice administration from St.
Joseph's University, Philadelphia. His professional training includes the FBI National
Academy, the U.S. Secret Service's Dignitary Protection School and the Police Executive
Research Forum's Senior Management Institute for Police. He has taught as an adjunct
professor at Seton Hall and Rutgers Universities and Gloucester County Community
College.
Anthony J. Fulginiti was elected Outstanding Public Relations Educator in America by
the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
For 30 years, he advised the Rowan PRSSA Chapter named after him. The Chapter
has won nearly 200 national and regional awards including “Outstanding Chapter in the
Nation,” seven times.
He has lectured nationally to hundreds of professionals and published books and
articles on public relations, writing and persuasive techniques- most recently, 101 Ways to
Influence People on the Job.
In 1992, Fulginiti received an organ transplant. Ever since, the Anthony J. Fulginiti
chapter of PRSSA has hosted Organ Donor Awareness Day on Rowan’s campus.

Frank X. Bodino was born in Jersey City, raised in Lincoln Park, NJ. He graduated from
DePaul Diocesan High School located in Wayne, NJ.
After suffering his sixth heart attack in the winter of 1995, Bodino was diagnosed with
cardio-myopathy. Bodino then spent eight months in the hospital on an assist device.
He received his "gift of life" on August 10, 1996. His heart transplant was performed at
Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. Because of his transplant,
Bodino has been able to enjoy the three proudest moments of his life to date. He attended
the college graduations of his three children.
Jacob "Jack" Locicero is a graduate of Passaic High School in New Jersey. He was a
member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After graduating from
Montclair State College, he taught for 28 years, retiring in 1990.
Married to his wife Arlene for 40 years, he has two daughters. In 1993, Amy, his first
child, gave the “gift of life” when she was the sixth fatality of the Long Island Rail Road
Massacre. He recently welcomed the birth of his first granddaughter, Amelia Lyn, the child
of his second daughter, Carrie.
Locicero served on the executive committee of Ceasefire New Jersey. As a current
Trustee of the Hawthorne Board of Education, he is the Chairman of Buildings and
Grounds. He is an accomplished public speaker and an avowed advocate of organ donation.
Bands
The Gay Blades (Clark Westfield and Puppy Mills) are an exciting music duo from the
Jersey City/NYC area. They have been together since December of 2005. The duo is almost
always on tour and recently showcased their unique sound at this year's South by Southwest
Festival in Austin, TX.
The Loop is a five piece rock/party band that has been a driving force on the east coast for
six years. With over the top energy, great looks, amazing musicianship, and a dedication to
entertaining, The Loop consistently leaves enthusiastic audiences wanting more. Vocalists
Mike Barclay and John Fisher take audience members on a journey through songs and emotions that spark pure excitement pilot The Loop experience. Bill Kennedy provides lead
guitars and keyboards to these highly polished performances. Locking up the rhythm section
is bass player Ken Gary Jr. and Dan Pettolina on drums. From rock to hip-hop to oldies, The
Loop delivers an experience like no other.

Stillicide which refers to their music as “groove rock with a funk fetish,” formed in
Northern New Jersey in the spring of 2002. Members include drummer, Rob Vazquez; guitarists Chris Lee and Eric Schraedley; bassist, Nat Werschulz and vocalist Clint Davis.
They made their Philadelphia debut in the winter of 2006, quickly becoming a staple on the
Philadelphia music scene with shows at such venues as Abilene, The Pontiac Grille, and
Club 218. The band frequently performs at the Grape Street Pub in Manayunk,
Pennsylvania where they’ve enjoyed multiple performances at the WMMR (93.3FM
Philadelphia) Thursday night Rock Show.
Stillicide made its main stage debut at Philadelphia’s legendary Trocadero Theatre in
October 2006 which was preceded by its New York City debut in September 2006. The
band is currently working on a new EP which has a tentative release date of summer of
2007.
Cheap Sunglasses is comprised of three of Rowan University’s “most-rockinist” upperclassmen. Guitarist Eric Seabrook and Bassist Mike Wright formerly of Johnny Sneaker’s
Rock Ensemble have joined forces with Drummer/Artist “70’s Mike” Jasorka who has just
returned from a signing tour of his newest comic book release Guthrie: The Story of an
Adventure.
Gift of Life Donor Program, the nonprofit agency serving the eastern half of Pennsylvania,
southern New Jersey and Delaware, is responsible for recovering and distributing organs
and tissue used in life-saving and life-enhancing transplants.
Founded in 1974 by the Greater Delaware Valley Society of Transplant Surgeons, Gift
of Life is one of the oldest and largest of 59 nonprofit organ and tissue procurement organizations in the United States. Gift of Life is part of the nationwide organ and tissue sharing
network run by the United Network for Organ Sharing.
Gift of Life’s staff of more than 100 full and part-time clinical and administrative personnel serve 12 area transplant centers where heart, kidney, liver, lung and pancreas transplants are performed. Gift of Life maintains the registry of men, women and children in the
region who are waiting for life-saving organ transplants at these centers. Currently, there are
more than 4,000 patients on the local waiting list for heart, kidney, liver, lung and pancreas
transplants.

Public Relations Student Society of America,
Anthony J. Fulginiti Chapter
Anthony J. Fulginiti (AJF) founded the Public Relations Student Society of
America (PRSSA) at Rowan University’s College of Communication more than 25 years
ago. The Society is part of the national organization consisting of 275 chapters and more
than 7,000 students in colleges and universities across the country.
The AJF Chapter has been named “Outstanding Chapter” seven times and has
received more than 200 national awards. At the 2006 National Conference in Utah, the
chapter won “Outstanding Chapter” Teahan Award.
AJF PRSSA strives to provide students with real-world public relations experiences, along with leadership and networking opportunities. Members benefit from the
organization through internships, job opportunities and award recognition.
National PRSSA’s mission is to serve its member by enhancing their knowledge of
public relations and providing access to professional development opportunities. PRSSA
serves the public relations profession by helping to develop high-qualified, well-prepared
professionals.
This chapter’s current advisor is M. Larry Litwin, APR, an associate professor of
public relations/advertising.

Brief History of Organ Donor Awareness Day at Rowan University
The Beginning of Organ Donor Day
1992 – Rowan University’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter
founder Anthony J. Fulginiti received a kidney transplant.
1993 – Rowan College of New Jersey PRSSA chapter sponsored the first Organ Donor
Awareness week, inspired by a PRSSA student whose mother had a failed kidney transplant.
1997 – Rowan University launched the annual National Organ Donor Awareness
Competition (NODAC).
Past Organ Donor Day Themes
2004 – “Band Together: Become instrumental in saving lives.” – Included a concert
from bands The Starting Line and Catch 22 and speakers from the Gift of Life Donor Program.
2005 – “Become a key player in the game of saving lives.” – Included games and a live perform
ance from band Someday Never and speakers from the Gift of Life Donor Program.
2006 – “Loungin’ for Life.” – Included appearances from magician Anthony Salazar, hypnotist
Laura Amoroso and comedian Pete Correale and speakers from the Gift of Life Donor Program.

The National Organ Donor Awareness Competition (NODAC)
Through NODAC, Rowan PRSSA encourages every PRSSA Chapter in the country to
hold an Organ Donor Day in March or April, National Organ Donor Awareness Month.
•Educate college campuses across the country about the overwhelming need for organ donors.
•Allow other PRSSA chapters the opportunity to organize their own organ donor
awareness special events.
•Recognize chapters conducting the top four one-day organ donor awareness events in the nation.

Take the N.J. Turnpike South to Exit 2 and follow Route 322 East (10 miles) to the campus.
From Philadelphia
Take the Walt Whitman or Benjamin Franklin Bridge to I-676 South toward Atlantic City. Shortly after
I-676 becomes Route 42 South, exit right onto Route 55 South. Take that to exit 50A (Glassboro-Mullica
Hill). Take Route 322 East (2 miles) to the campus.
From the West
Take I-95 to the Commodore Barry Bridge. Follow Route 322 East (15 miles) to the campus.
From Central New Jersey
Take Route 70 West to I-295 South. Follow I-295 to Route 42 South (Atlantic City). Exit Route 42
South onto Route 55 South. Follow that to exit 50A (Glassboro ‹Mullica Hill). Take Route 322 East (2
miles) to the campus.
From the East
Take the Garden State Parkway to the Atlantic City Expressway. Take the Expressway to Exit 38
(Williamstown). Turn left after exiting and follow Route 322 West (8 miles) to the campus.
From the South
From the South (Maryland, Delaware, etc.) Take I-95 North to the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Take the
NJ Turnpike to Exit 2 and follow Route 322 East to the campus.
On Campus
From Route 322 East
Follow Route 322 East to Bowe Boulevard, making left. Follow until Rowan Entrance on right.
From Route 322 West
Follow Route 322 West to Bowe Boulevard, making right. Follow until Rowan entrance
on right.
Turn right and continue to security station. The guard will direct you to Lot P. The
Student Center patio is located beyond the gymnasium, next to the library.
