Dan’s Thoughts
Big Sir Dan Capodanno
Bon Jour. That
was what everyone was saying
during our last
luncheon on Monday, July 14, Bastille Day. Thanks
to our Secretary, John Cooney,
for the suggestion to have a
French theme for that day, along
with decorations and French music. We look forward to other special occasions. Attendance was
OK, but it could be better. Remember to bring a friend or a prospective new member.
Next month, we have a lot hap-
pening. First, we will have the
election of officers for 2015. All of
the BEC, as listed on page 3,
have agreed to remain in office.
We will take nominations from the
floor at our August meeting.
Next is our annual picnic. We
have invited Branch 4 to attend
with us and they are eager to participate. Please remember to get
your tickets either by sending
your check in the mail to Don
Banks or bringing it to the next
luncheon on August 11, the deadline for reservations. Your tickets

August Meeting Speaker:
Scott Delucchi, Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA
Our August meeting speaker
will be Scott Delucchi, Sr. Vice
President of the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA. Assisting
Scott will be his dog, Murray, a
PHS rescue dog.
Scott will give us an introduction
to their new Adoption Center in
Burlingame. He’ll also cover their
main services, programs and opportunities for volunteers.
PHS/SPCA is a private, independent and non-profit organization and is much more than a nokill shelter. Since 2003, they’ve
rehomed 100% of healthy dogs
and cats under their care and
promise to do this going forward.
August, 2014
They accept the community’s
sick, injured, abused, unwanted,
stray, neglected and older animals and they rehome approximately 200 every month!
PHS/SPCA also rehabilitates
wildlife, makes spay/neuter free
for their low or fixed-income residents, investigates animal cruelty
and educates children.
It’s no wonder PHS/SPCA is
one of the few shelters in the entire state accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association.
Please attend the meeting and
learn more about PHS/SPCA.
