Throughout all those years, its organization has been developing concurrently with the development of alpine skiing and competitions’ safety requirements, we have been gathering experience and knowhow, and today the Vitranc Cup is one of the largest, best organized and one of the best visited traditional sport events in Slovenia and in central Europe. Most merit for that shall be attributed to the diligent, hard-working and persistent inhabitants of Kranjska Gora and the neighbouring villages, who still co-create this top skiing event by their volunteer work, as well as to the Vitranc Cup Organizing Committee. Because of that, the Vitranc Cup is deeply anchored in the FIS calendar also in the future. This year, the organizers will yet again try to organize an event that will justify its reputation as an event that combines sports and entertainment. For three days, the best slalom and giant-slalom skiers will compete on the slope in Podkoren and fight for the best placements, because Kranjska Gora will this year also host the cancelled giantslalom from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The competition weekend will be enhanced by a rich accompanying program, both at the competition venue, as well as in the very center of Kranjska Gora. On Friday evening after the giant-slalom, the Vitranc hall will host the popular musical Mamma Mia, whereas on Saturday evening the visitors of Kranjska Gora and the Vitranc Cup will be able to have fun at the "Q-Max Party." However, the Vitranc Cup is not merely sports and entertainment. The best world’s skiers bring to Kranjska Gora also the political and business elite on the local, national and international level. In three days, people from different walks of life, areas and business activities will share their admiration and enjoy in the skiers’ performance, competitive fighting spirit, persistence and discipline, i.e. virtues which today represent a pre-requisite for any area of our lives. 3 The Vitranc Cup will be as exciting as the first time! #vitranc2016 www.pokal-vitranc.com 55th Vitranc Cup, 4th – 6th March 2016 Access Despite the fact that the Upper Sava Valley is embraced by the mighty Karavanke Mountains and the Julian Alps, Kranjska Gora is very easily accessible.
