December
7, 1941: Pearl Harbor was no surprise "Day of infamy"
It is obviously good and proper to respect the U.S. flag and the American Republic for which it stands, that has been perpetuated with the blood of American heroes. On
the other hand, it can be a fatal mistake, a nuking of the Bill of Rights, not to recognize and hold accountable the treasonous political leaders both Democrat and Republican
who wrap themselves in the same flag to cover up their crimes against the American common people.
Today, 60 years after President Rosevelt’s Pearl Harbor deception, we reflect also on America’s history of deception and war, Viet Nam, and our current state of war in
the middle east; and, we demand to know who benefitted from treasonous prior knowledge of the violence against America on September 11, 2001? The warmongers are
the domestic enemies of our Constitution of yesterday, today and tomorrow, and these traitors intend to destroy the American republic by murder, economic manipulations,
and illegal wars of terrorism based on fraudulent claims of a foreign threat to America.
WWI, the war that was supposed to end all wars. Fourty years later, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt wanted the Japanese to attack America while concealing his
plans from the American people. In the book "Day of Deceit: The Truth about FDR and Pearl Harbor" by Robert B. Stinnett, there can be no denying the awful truth that
FDR not only knew the Japanese were going to attack, but official documents prove FDR wanted them to strike America first, and he provoked the attack, and deceived military command to allow the murder of 2403 Americans at Pear Harbor without any warning. They were simply slaughtered on a beautiful Sunday morning to justify war.
Americans were sold a grotesque lie of a “surprise attack on Pearl Harbor”. The treasonous American Aristoracy blamed the attack on the Fleet Commanders in Hawaii.
The truth is that in December, 1941, just like on September 11, 2001, there was White House prior knowledge of an attack on America; they lied, and we died.
On September 11, 2001, Bush was part of the prior-made plan. There was to be three or more mock attacks. The real attack was to use these scheduled maneuvers, for
the same early morning September 11, 2001, to confuse those in the FAA, Norad, and the U.S. Military. The result was a military stand-down. Like Pearl Harbor, 3,000
American lives were thrown away to instigate a war against Afghanistan and Iraq for corporate oil profits.
All the evidence leads to this conclusion: the plot to destroy the American republic is entirely based WITHIN THIS NATION, on American soil, by a few powerful
American citizens in positions of control. The Enemy is not Asia or the Middle East. American regimes have created an "enemy", as a straw man, and then sent our armies
to fight their "enemy" to consolidate their power, and trashing our Constitution and Bill of Rights. The American Republic has gone down hill since the overthrow, by the
American secret political police, of the U.S. government, by way of the murder in 1963 of President John F. Kennedy. Solution: Enforce the Bill of Rights!

The Fire Truck Pull and Medley (massive heavy equipment tire flip, drain pipe drag, 250# keg lift and 200#
ball lift). MC Kaleo Pilanca, dressed in black was hot! Cajoling, encouraging, pleading with Strong Men contestants as they each attempted the events-- the ball lift proved to be the most challenging and difficult. Only
Tanuli and Peter were able to successfully complete the event. . Overall Winner was Na Pu‘uwai Fitness
Center’s Peter Pale. Conditioning, training, good health was the key to all the contestants successes.

Welcome to
Hina I Ka Malama.
“Not only are these talented students dedicated to advancing Pacific Island culture
through film, video and new media,” says Ruth Bolan, Executive Director of Pacific
Islanders in Communications, “but they represent the next generation of storytellers.
Like their ancestors before them, they will preserve Pacific Island customs and traditions through a visual medium instead of an oral tradition. We are proud to assist these
students, their stories will inspire and remind future generations of the strength and brilliance of the Pacific Island people.”
The students awarded have lofty ambitions. With goals ranging from becoming a
Hollywood producer (Kevin Ka’ahanui) to opening a theatre in Saipan (Sophia Suda),
the students are well on their way to cultivating interest and promoting the history of
their indigenous cultures. For more information, go to www.piccom.org or call (808)

their families will begin at 5pm.

Molokai Island Main Street Association
Progress Report
Aloha Molokai ~
The Molokai Island Main Street Association (MIMSA) is a successor of two previous Molokai, Hawaii Main Street programs following the National Trust for Historic
Preservation Main Street guidelines. Over the past 13 years the organization has operated under the 501 ( c ) (3) umbrella of the Wailuku Main Street Association/Tri-Isle
Main Street Resource Center and we never filed for Recognition of Exemption. In
March of 2004 the IRS awarded a 501 ( c ) 3 to the new organization which is now
referred to as “The Molokai Island Main Street Association”. Beverly Pauole-Moore,
Arleone Dibbon, Pearlie Hodgins and Kay Takeuchi were the thrust behind this newly
formed organization.
The purpose of MIMSA is to prevent community deterioration through the preservation and conservation of the culture, heritage, history and the natural resources of the
Island of Molokai. It is also the organization’s goals to foster, promote, maintain as well
as encourage the civic, social and economic environment of Molokai’s small towns.
The focus of the MIMSA is on assisting small town businesses, which make up over
80% of the businesses on Molokai. The program utilizes a comprehensive process to
identify and prioritize needed improvements and works to achieve community consensus and support.
We seek out services from many volunteers to assist in undertaking projects such
as the Kaunakakai Historical Building and Walking Site Tour Brochure, the Holiday
Lights Parade Program, a Trash Receptacle Improvement Program and Town Clean Up
Projects. New Officers were appointed in September of 2004 to carry out the 2004/05
and 2005/06 duties:
Maria Holmes, President ~ Owner, molokaievents.com, inc.
Kathy Sears - Treasurer ~ Operations, MECO, Molokai Division
Zhantell Dudoit - Director ~ Owner, molokaievetns.com, inc.
Kay Takeuchi - Director ~ Retired Molokai Resident
George Pescaia - Director ~ Manager, Special Projects Dept. Molokai Ranch, Ltd.
Currently the MIMSA does not employee staff, nor do we have an office. It is the
goal of the current officers to eventually hire a part-time Director to manage upcoming
projects and write grant proposals.
Three (3) Objectives were planned for 2004/2005 with possible funding by the
County of Maui, they were to:
Work with various organizations and private individuals to build a Visitors Kiosk
and public restroom facility in the heart of Kaunakakai Town.
To develop, market and implement a variety of community driven programs in the
towns of Kaunakakai, Maunaloa, Kualapuu and Manae by enhancing the economic
vitality and appearance of these small towns, by way of greenery and shading projects,
sidewalk improvements storefront cleanup. Improve community relations and get a
consensus from all the merchants and create a better citizen interest and willingness to
participate in projects including community events.
Promote public safety by way of crime prevention efforts.
When the newly formed 2004 Board Members accepted these positions, time was
available to each of us and we were eager to begin fulfilling our objectives. In the Fall,
we wrote for a grant and funding was appropriated by the County. We had a few public meetings and ended the year with a grand Christmas Celebration and Light Parade
funded by The County of Maui, Office of Economic Development and Maui Electric.
Many of our existing Christmas Decorations were re-done and Gene Anderson along
with Alex Bishaw saw to it that these fixtures were in perfect working order.
As the new-year of 2005 arrived, I accepted a full time position as Director of InState Roasted Sales and Ag-Tourism at Friendly Isle Coffee Company and I also managed to continue to work part time with my own company molokaievents.com managing multiple events throughout 2005. Work consumed the majority of my time and
MIMSA was put on the back burner. Zhantell Dudoit resigned from the Board in the
summer of 2005, due to her involvement in the Community Plan and the other Board
Members were busy as well. We all agreed that we wanted to do quality work within
the community and not just hold meetings with no action being taken.
Many of you are asking about the Holiday Lights Parade this year and I apologize
for not being able to make this happen. It takes many man-hours and a lot of money to
make this event possible. Regular expenses incurred for the Parade include insurance,
electrical lights hung in town, permits, staging, lighting and decorations, not to mention
the organization of the parade entries. Beverly Pauole-Moore and Pearlie Hodgins
came to our rescue last month and they have organized a Christmas Program fronting
the Kaunakakai Library on Saturday, December 10th beginning at 5:00 pm. We are
truly grateful for their efforts in helping the organization and bringing joy to the keiki
of Moloka‘i.
As 2006 falls in to place, we are actively looking for new board members, preferably merchants who are interested in seeing the objectives of MIMSA as outlined above
fulfilled. I will continue to hold the position as President until the position can be
filled, however the organization will not go forward without ìactiveî members.
Please contact me direct at 808-630-5860 if you are interested in becoming an
active board member for 2006/2007 or if you have questions.

Future of Charter Schools in Hawaii ...
to be Determined
The Charter School Task Force invites the public statewide to participate in a series
of public input workshops on laws relating to Hawaii’s public charter schools. A workshop on Molokai has been added to the schedule, on December 14, 3:00-5:00 at
Kualapuu School cafeteria.
These workshops are aimed at collecting input on such questions as:
Should Hawaii’s public charter schools have their own school district?
Should the “cap” be lifted on the number of charter schools in Hawaii?
Should teachers earn DOE tenure while teaching at a charter school?
Should Hawaii’s public charter schools receive funding for facilities?
What rights and responsibilities should local school boards have?
The task force, to-date, has generated more than 40 legislative proposals in five key
areas: general organization; powers and duties; collective bargaining; the Sunshine
Law; and facilities and finance.
After taking into consideration the input gathered from these workshops, the task
force will vote on which proposals to recommend in its report to the State Legislature.

100th Anniversary at Place’s
On November 26, 2005, I returned home to Molokai for a 100 year celebration of
our family property located in Ohia, Molokai. Purchased on November 28, 1905, by
my late great-grandfather, William Henry Place, along with his sister, the late Margaret
Paaluhi, this land has been passed down from generation to generation within these two
families since then, and numerous family members have lived on and enjoyed this land.
All the love for this land is evident in its well-manicured lawn, abundant fruit trees,
and all the beautiful flora and fauna. I'm so happy that I was able to come home, see
the old photographs, talk story, and listen to family and friends share all their fond memories of this place. 100 Years...Wow! I would like to take this time to thank my parents Milton & Linda Place, for honoring Papa & Grandma Place's wishes by continuing
to love and care for this land so that it can be enjoyed by and continue to be passed on
to future generations, honoring our family legacy.
Thank you also to Aunty Karen and the rest of the family and friends who made
this wish come true for my Dad! Mom & Dad, you are my heroes, and I love you very
much!
Sincerely, Zaidarene DeMello

Na Leo Pilimehana: Feel the Spirit
Since they won the 1984 Brown Bags to Stardom talent competition as
Kamehameha Schools students, the trio, Na Leo Pilimehana has also won 22 Na Hoku
Hanohano awards. Nalani Choy, Lehua Heine and Anglea Morales have released a new
studio album, their 15th CD. FEEL THE SPIRIT was recorded and mixed in Hawaii by
world famous music producer Keith Olsen, Feel the Spirit is poised to take the Hawaiian
spirit of Na Leo to the rest of the world.
Na Leo Pilimehana, which in Hawaiian means the voices blending together in
warmth, consists of three childhood friends, Nalani Choy, Lehua Kalima Heine and
Angela Morales.
Feel the Spirit is a wonderfully fresh new album from Na Leo, Hawaii’s most popular and award-winning female group. Music industry giant Keith Olsen sought out Na
Leo and has crated what many are calling the best album of their 21 year career featuring stunning vocal performances from all three Na Leo members.
Keith Olsen is a celebrated producer of such notable artists as Fleetwood Mac,
Foreigner, Greatful Dead, Heart & Santana, to name a few. His many soundtrack
albums include: Footloose, Flashdance,
Tron, Top Gun and many others. He has
produced 41 Gold, 24 Platinum and 14
multi-platinum albums.
Also appearing on Feel the Spirit is
famed Scottish singer Alex Ligertwood who
sang lead, wrote and played with Carlos
Santana for eighteen years, legendary studio
guitarist Tim Pierce who has played with
everyone from Janet Jackson to Phil Collins
and programmer/composer Richard Baker
who has worked with Santana, Emerson,
Lake & Palmer, Yes and many more.
Among the songs in the thirteen cuts
are songs written by the trio. “Flying with Angels” by Lehua Heine, “All is Right with
Me,” by Angela Morales and Nalani Choy’s “Kiss Me.” The title song of the album,
“Feel the Spirit” was written by Alex Ligertwood.
Feel the Spirit is produced by World Sound, and distributed by Mountain Apple
Company.

Lost Generations
-- A Boy, A School, A
Princess
author: J. Arthur Rath
“Mr. Bailey was encouraging, as
though he knew of me. I qualified because
of my Hawaiian bloodlines; he said he was
willing to let me in as a boarder. I heard
later that no one looking like me ever
attended Kamehameha Schools.”
Thus, “Atta,” as he was called by
cowboys on his grandfather’s ranch,
describes his admission into the
Kamehameha School for Boys. He had
lived on Oahu, on the Mainland, raised by
a single mother Hualani and my relatives
and foster parents. He tells of a boyhood
learning to adapt to a changing world and a
mother who was a social worker who travelled to Molokai to help the victims of
Hansens Disease. He speaks of “Being Hawaiian” and of his Lyman family, growing
up learning to fish, hunt and tend cattle.
After December 7, 1941, he was sent to the Big Island to live with his Lyman
grandparents where he attended Konawaena School. There he heard the Kamehameha
Schools boy choir at a school assembly. The performance made a deep impression.
He filled out application forms, went through the interview process and in 1944,
entered Kamehameha as an 8th grade boarder.
LOST GENERATIONS is an autobiography, a history of Hawaii, and
Kamehameha School, and also an account of the most recent events at the Schools
and Bishop Estate. The author reminisces of campus life, classmates and of an
enriching environment that turned his life around. He writes with candor of his
friendship of Oswald Stender, former Trustee. He writes of other trustees who were
brought to public attention by Auntie Nona Beamer who called for their resignation.
Rath draws on his many personal ties to the school and the estate to provide surprising revelations about the trustees and the “Bishop Estate Scandal” of the mid1990s. His writing is well-balanced with humor, hard facts, and an engaging writing
style. Kamehameha Alumni and others will find it timely, interesting reading.
LOST GENERATIONS by J. Arthur Rath is published by the University of
Hawai‘i Press [ISBN 0-8248-3010-5, archival photographs, 367 pp.]
MilitaryJustice is an Oxymoron
Sgt. Gets 15 Months Prison For Resisting Iraq War: but, Captain
Gets 45 Days For Stealing And Selling Body Armor?
Refusing a second deployment to Iraq, Sgt. Kevin Benderman was labeled by those
in command and control at Ft. Stewart, GA., as "endangering" those from FT. Stewart
who would be deploying to Iraq. Officers at FT. Stewart, as well as some senior NCO's,
were incessant in their condemnation of Kevin; all of them accusing the same theme of
how Kevin was endangering those who would go to Iraq by his (Kevin's) refusal to go.
Kevin is now in a military prison for the next 15 months.
However, Captain Schenk, S-2 at FT. Stewart, GA. (S-2 is Army military intelligence), was busted for stealing the armored plates for the body armor vests the troops
from FT Stewart would be wearing in Iraq, then selling those plates on E-Bay for
between $3,000 and $4,000 a piece.
Capt. Schenk was sent to jail for 45 days for his criminal theft of body armor.
Between the two men, who in fact was it who endangered the troops: Kevin, by his
refusals to be a part of needless and senseless killing in Iraq? Or Capt. Schenk by stealing and selling, for personal profit, those body armor plates needed to prevent injury to
the troops? Why does a man who refuses to be a participant in what were illegal orders,
in an illegal war, which was based on provable lies and deceptions, spend 15 months in
a military jail; while a thief, a commissioned officer at the same base at the same time,
gets caught selling the troops protective equipment and only gets 45 days in jail?
Something is seriously wrong with this picture of “military justice” !

Congress CAN STOP the War, but Won’t
There is a veterans’ tent at Bring the Troops Home Now Camp Casey near President
Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texax, staffed by representatives from Veterans for Peace and
Iraq Veterans Against the War. Inside, Cody Camacho, an Iraq War veteran from
Chicago say's he is here at Camp Casey because it helps in “dealing with the things I
saw and the things I did over there, dealing with the guilt and things. “You’ve just got
to find a real ‘noble cause.’ The only way to keep your sanity is to do what is obviously right. All of a sudden, there’s clarity after you go through that. That’s the reason I’m
here, to get my buddies home,” Camacho said.
Tammara Rosenleaf’s husband is about to be deployed to Iraq. She joined the
encampment in its first few days. She says: “When my husband got ready to deploy, the
Army gave me a book, called ‘Surviving Deployment.’ There’s a lot of things in it, lists
of all sorts of things I should have.
“It says I should write down the numbers of the electrician and plumber. You know
what? I am 47 years old. I know that if my toilet is clogged up, I should call a plumber.
What I’d like to know, at 4:00 in the morning when I wake up scared to death that my
husband is dead or injured, who do I call? And it’s not in that book.”
Now she has joined with Cindy Sheehan to Bring The Troops Home Now.
Eddie Boyd, a Navy veteran and an activist with the Troops Out Now Coalition in
Baltimore, speaks of the trauma returning veterans face. He says: “There are a lot of
folks that are coming back home, and a lot of folks that are feeling the same way. And
all our government has to do is say, ‘Suck it up, drink a beer and keep moving.’
“I say no. We have to love our troops, and we love our kids. And we love our kids
so much that we would do anything and everything in our power to keep them away
from putting on them uniforms.”
Rev. Joseph Lowery, co-founder of Southern Christian Leadership Conference and
a close friend of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said: “The war is over, now it is time for
Bush to come to that understanding and bring the troops home.”Jeff, a Marine veteran,
began playing TAPS in honor of the dead. The camp was silent. “After TAPS were
played, a lady that had lost a family member sang a song that didn’t leave a dry eye at
the campsite. Later that night I begin to think of the importance of being here, of voicing my displeasure of this president and administration’s policy, where this country is
headed,” reported Boyd.
But it is obvious that neither President Bush nor Congress is moving to bring our
troops home now, and more will die for Bush's lies. There is a movement brewing in
the land. And it’s time, it’s time to bring the troops home.
It is time to shut down Wall Street, headquarters of the corporate warmongers.
*More than 100,000 Iraqi people and 2,100 U.S. soldiers have died as a result of a bipartisan policy of war and greed. Politicians will not stop the war--only a massive people's
movement will bring the troops home.
We need to launch a national movement against war with No School, Work or
Shopping - Protest Across the Country to shut down Wall Street and the war monger
politicians. And, across the U.S. from Washington, DC to San Francisco, California
antiwar activists, Civil Rights leaders, trade unionists, and community organizers will
take to the streets . Now we’re in a position for a national movement. People from all
over the country are organizing and preparing for future resistance against the war. In
New York, people are coming from all over the region--some are walking out of school,
others are leaving work early--to mass on Wall Street.
It's time to move from protest to resistance, to say, "Troops Home Now, or we'll shut
it down!” Let's begin by shutting down Wall Street --no business as usual. Bring the
troops home now!
